Random(ish) question... Isn't this just a 4" blade? Like 10 years ago, i was visiting a friend of a friend and he had a sng/smf looking thing, but it was at least 5" blade length. He had a massive Strider collection, so im reasonably certain it was legit. Any idea what that would have been?
Wow. Honesty. I don't have the Evo but after a lot of videos with everyone loving it, it refreshing to hear something different. Thanks for the honesty.
This is one of the knives that really hammered home how different my preferences are, from the knife community as a whole. It even made me have some completely irrational spite against CKF for a while. I got one right at the peak of their hype, and nothing about it felt right. Its somehow huge and small at the same time, and in the worst possible ways. It also felt cheap in some weird way that i can't explain. Edit: oh damn, you mentioned the cheap thing too! Thats hilarious. Ive never heard anyone else say that.
I know this is an older video, but I’d just like to throw out that when it comes to blade length and legalities, it’s cutting edge that is measured. Not choils, not to the handle, not to the pivot. It’s cutting edge.. I appreciate the review, southern edges has a bunch of these in stock right now, just deciding if I want a 3rd Eklipse and in what finish.
@@ronin8490 that’s not necessarily true, most states in the US measure from the tip of the blade to the handle, not all states. I believe Connecticut and Nevada measure it based on cutting edge. No matter what though. If you get a police officer that is harsher they can measure it how they see fit. Just be smart and careful with the knives you carry. Also I hope you liked the review, thanks for the comment and that feedback. Also I don’t think one can have too many Eklipse’.
@@knifelife8305 That's true. I feel like with a few exceptions you could carry pretty much whatever you wanted wherever you wanted it so long as you're not an idiot
Amazing collection! I went to the Blade Show in Atlanta for the first time and I was like a kid in a candy store. I had my hinderer scale swapped out for the titanium battle bronze ones. Their customer service was outstanding. I met the owner of Medford knives and just bought the Utgard fixed blade the other night. I also just bought another TRM, the Neutron. Lastly, I bought the Kizer Mystic which has been impossible to find online! Oh and I bought the Pyrite lite on amazon, I couldn't decide so I got both blue and green. Needless to say I have a knife problem. NIce score on the Strider. I must have missed that booth.
Thank you. I’m glad you had a blast at Blade Show. We all are like kids in a candy store. It’s absolutely fantastic. Glad to see you are growing your collection healthily, seems like you found quite a few good ones. Mine just keeps growing haha 🤣🤣
The Demko is scales are show only too. Larger diamond pattern, more contoured on edges with inner chamfer. Just loosen the pivot screw a tad and it will scream! Congratulations!
Oh I noticed the subtle differences between this AD20S and my other one, I love when they do things different for the show, even if it’s slightly different. And oh trust me, I’ll get it to run super smoothly. I’ve gotten my other Demko’s so smooth even people at the Demko booth were wondering how I did it 🤣 also thank you man. It was a fantastic show.
Rockstead knives are extremely high quality, but theres also a fair amount of woo-woo nonsense surrounding their products. "Will cut better than any kitchen knife" falls firmly in the woo-woo nonsense category. I wouldn't even call my .06" stock, sub .005" BTE nakiri the best slicer in the world, but i guarantee its a light saber compared to that. No heat treatment in the world will ever defeat simple geometry.
Well the heat treat might make it cut longer than any other kitchen knife and most knives in general but it doesn’t necessarily make it a better cutter. Though it has been proven that mirror polished blades cut better than non mirror polished blades just simply because they have less friction but you are right. That doesn’t make it cut better than a knife that simply has better blade/cutting geometry.
Yes but no. It is designed for EDC use but the blade is specifically designed for cutting food and food prep. It is a food prep EDC folder. Simple. It is not a dedicated kitchen knife but a food prep EDC folder. There is a slight difference.
For me, I find the Umnumzaan tanto the perfect knife as far as blade geometry/utility. However, the Inkosi micarta feels better, and more robust in the hand. The Inkosi is most definitely tougher than the Umnumzaan. I've used both extensively. Never purchased a Sebenza as they never felt up to par with the other two🤷♂️
I absolutely get your perspective, I love the Umnumzaan, overall it seems like the Inkosi is a better EDC knife but not necessarily a better knife overall.
I have a Kwaiken that ive tried using as a work knife a few different times. It never goes well. All the loctite in the world cant hold it together. Horrible tolerances make all the parts fight each other to come apart, and un-shouldered standoffs make it an effortless fight. Ive seriously had the two sides separate in my pocket, to the point that the pivot is the only thing holding the knife together. Also, unless i wave it out of my pocket i can hold it spine down and fold it up like its basically a slip joint. Even if i do wave it out, i can still slip the lock half the time. I modded it to use a Hinderer pivot and standoff so it at least stays together now, but calling it trash would be an insult to all the safe, functional trash out there. Edit: It takes such a great, sticky sharp edge though, and I love the blade shape.
I’ve had a few Emerson’s and I haven’t had that issue. But they definitely aren’t the best looking, they are definitely designed to just be work knives. So far I haven’t had a problem with Emerson’s as work knives but who knows, maybe I will now haha 🤣 but they do take wicked edges.
I have the Damascus Blade with the Mayan engravings in Bronze I love it so much I Can’t get myself to carry it. So I’m looking to get a 2nd Harsey 4” folder Can’t decide Between the Relic or the all Black PVD It will be used Hard so I have to consider how it will look Scratched up and warm in. To me the Egos are more like a Large Inkosi Look at the large Inkosi all the ergonomics are almost identical just exaggerated on the Spartan Harsey 4” folder.
The Slim Midi really is a fantastic knife - I really appreciate the Chris Reeve quality with the added individuality of PVD or flame / anodizing and the action and edge retention are very, very good!
I wish they made a smaller version. If they made one that had a 3.25ish blade with a thinner build and stock thickness this would be a killer edc. I still love my full size though.
