This is all about passion. Passion for racing! Fancy to look at motorsports from race car? You are at the right place! I'm racing enthusiast keen to show you everything about the sport I love!
It wasnt a racing incident. You're clearly holding your line and he is squeezing you. While there is room for you to go more to the outside edge of the kerb, you're not obliged to do it. But of course it's better to do and give him way than get into a crash, as you never know how the crash turns out.
@@here2raceyeah i even found it by coincidence. I was googling e9x time attack car 😂 i have an n54 e90 i was wondering how this chassis would be as a track car with aero. And this gave me a good insight 👍
@@bahy-amir there are more videos about the car on the channel, look it through - maybe you find smth interesting for your project. Chassis is fine ;) Glad you like the content
Thanks a lot Tom! Yeah, I would be happy to jump to f1000 again. Someday hopefully! Let me know to messenger what do you run in iracing, we can definitely come up with smth!
Great to see how you are getting on. I took my F1000 out for the first time yesterday at Snetterton. Wow, that was a baptism of fire. Unbelievably quick cars. All your races look completely different now I've been behind the wheel myself. Looking forward to keeping up with your racing. Thanks for the advice and help.
F1000 and Snet is an amazing combination! Well, it's nice on any track :) Keep pushing, mate - everything will come. Don't hesitate to contact me if anything.
It's good to see You back and I hope that Your previous time in what is now becoming rare single seater racing will put You in good stead for the closed car series. I would like to hear if the saloon car racing gives the same excitement for You as a driver as did the Monopostos . Best wishes for Your 2024 season.,
Hi mate! Actually, single seater experience is one of the most valuable in my opinion. And exciting...maybe some top level gt feels differently, but from what I have tried, nothing can compare to proper single seater. :)
Hello again, I was wondering if you recall how many sets of tyres you used in a season? I'm tyring to work out my budget and you ran really well in the pack and I was hoping that was on a reasonable tyre budget. I'm off to Snetterton testing in two weeks, wish me luck.
I believe it was 4 tyres per meeting/weekend. So I finished used tyres from last meeting in Friday testing and starting from qualy had new ones. So 6-7 sets per season - I don't know how many meetings are there now. Plus, at least one set of wets depending on weather. There are guys who have fewer tyres, but I think it starts affecting performance significantly. Good luck at Snet :)
Great video. I know how hard it is to make a video after a weekend like that...😢🤯 Did the CoC call you up after the incident, and was any action taken?
Yeah, it was not the easiest video. But I tried to be honest. And I was called to race control yes, but without looking at my onboards they just thanked me for stopping immediately to help the other driver. There are plenty of marshals at Druids, so I guess they had enough information.
Not a racing incident. You were on the inside and he turned into you, leaving you nowhere to go. His fault. Noticed a yellow guy earlier, same corner I think also moved towards you and you had to avoid him. I think you were on the outside approaching turn 2 and he moved towards you. It’s not easy to see behind you in a single seater but that’s what mirrors are there for.
You are right, probably, but still most of the time, it's better to lift and try to attack again later than to crash being right. Also its difficult to think rational in the race, so I try not to blame anyone if only its not obviously intentional, because I do make mistakes myself sometimes being in the red mist.
Thanks mate! I will think about it, because I'm not sure what car will be next, but regarding this bmw - it's paddle shift gearbox, pretty straight forward left foot braking, not much of a "dancing on the pedals". But it's a nice idea anyway, I can give it a try!
@@here2race Great, thanks man! It is still interesting to watch it, even with left foot braking. An including view in the edit in full screen (not in "picture in picture") would be very great! :D
Well, as general guidelines. Just my personal experience. 1. Try to go with minimal aero settings (lowest downforce). F1000 relies more on slicks and floor downforce than wings. So start with minimum, then increase gradually when necessary. 2. Higher settings on wings (like 3rd-5th hole) are pretty ineffective in terms of drag/downforce ratio, so try to avoid. Rain is the exception, though. 3. However, the effect of wings is not so big in my opinion, changes to aero balance are pretty noticeable. So try to avoid making steep changes between front and rear. 4. Try to keep floor in good condition. Also front wing tends to become wobbly, if you see this on you onboards, it might be time to replace it, because in this state, it does mostly nothing. 5. Speak to the team, do more testing and play with settings gradually.
Yes I was told it is a mostly mechanical grip car. Unfortunately no team to speak of, (I'm running the car myself) though Frazer said he'd help me out with setup. Thanks again, you really are the best youtuber I've come across.
So glad to have all your videos as reference material. It's so easy to watch these type of races when you don't have a car and think how good you would be at it. Then so incredibly different when you have an F1000 in the garage. I'm really doubting myself now. Thanks again for the effort in making videos, they are both good and useful.
Well, I saw similar collisions a couple of times over two years in open wheels, and none harmed drivers btw. So, not so often, but it is relative, of course. Sure, it can be solved with some sort of wheel covers, but it won't be open wheels anymore. :) I see it more as a feature than as a bug, if you understand what I mean. :)
It is interesting though, that this video with music is getting much more views than others without...looks like crash is more important than music. :(
Nono, they work - I checked :) It's possible to notice when some sunlight falls on the dash. There is no other dash in the car. Just old gopro with shitty quality this time. Plus, I put some noise reduction on top, it doesn't add details as well. Any specific numbers are you interested in?
@@here2race sorry yes it was just the light earlier on in the video....silly me. The car sounds fantastic but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it VS the F1000's, do you miss driving the much faster single seater?
@mo-r-racing of course I do miss it :) F1000 is my true love )) I started typing the answer about differences, but it's going to be too long. I will try to answer it in the next video I'm making now about past season. Edit: maybe in one after the next :)
Hi, after an exhilarating few months I have bought an F1000. As you have consistently proved to be a great you tuber I have a few questions. How many sets of tyres did you use per weekend? If you were to race only three race tracks in season which ones would they be? Many thanks Josh
You have bought yourself huge fun, Josh, Congrats! For the weekend I used old tires from last round for Friday practice, and then new set for qualification and 2 or 3 races, what's left goes to next weekend practice. So one set of tires per weekend. You can use used ones longer, but it will affect performance noticeably. 2 sets per weekend would be perfect, but costly. From tracks I've been to in UK I would choose Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and Donington Park.
@@search4orlife thank you man, I really appreciate. Making videos is fun at times...sometimes not so. :) Good luck with next season, don't hesitate to ask if anything.
Hi, as you have done a good amount of racing what do you think of F1000 cars? I'll be buying something next year but I'm not sure and am trying to find out as much as possible before I do. I don't plan to race an entire series probably just a few races a year and track days. I'll have a car budget of about 20k and 10k per season. Any advice is much appreciated. All the best Josh
It's a broad topic, I'll try to be brief. For this budget range you can afford quite a lot of race cars (assuming you are in UK). Mostly entry level saloons, pretty simple single seaters, some basic prototypes maybe, second hand mostly of course. Although choice of saloons is just huge, through my years of racing I found that cars built purposely with racing in mind are almost always more fun and enjoyable than cars converted from street to race, even if the latter are much more expensive. Yeah, saloon will be more comfortable in many ways, especially if you are new to this, but emotions are just incomparable in my opinion. So I would definitely go for smth more race purposed from the beginning. Your budget is reasonable to start. Speaking about F1000 specifically. It is great car I think, performance for money is simply exceptional. Also it gives vibes of little f1, which is important for many of us. And it is relatively easy to drive actually, easier than this car looks. As a downside it has some reliability issues, but all race cars of this segment have them. I would even say all race cars have them. :) Anyway be ready, that part of you budget will go to "unprovoked" repairs. So my advice will be the following. There are many options in this regard in UK, check racecarsdirect, visit paddock of local events, speak to teams, go to national section of Autosport International at NEC (it's conveniently soon - in January). Sometimes you find right person in the team or organisers and it is not so important what car to drive. Cars can be changed easily. People are more important than cars. @@search4orlife
Many thanks again. I will take my time and go and see as many formulas as possible next season. Really appreciate your feedback and online work. All the best Josh
Dude, you spend a lot of time with things that are already known by anybody, like "in real life you can die, in sim you do not risk your life". We do not need an experienced dude to tell us that. It is obvious. Tell what only you can tell, because you are fortunate enough to drive in real race cars. Tell us what is well simulated (from a physics standing point) and what is not. Instead of 9, or 8, or 7 fundamental differences, tell the single one that matters.
Thanks for comment mate. Well, I spoke about things that are more important in my opinion. I actually think that "not dying" is more important than details of physics simulation. :) I can try to answer shortly about physics. It is simulated pretty well nowadays (speaking about iracing) - it is not ideal and there are tons of nuances, but it doesn't matter actually - perception of simulator will never be the same as real life. So every time you change "media" - sim to car or vice versa - you have to adapt you feelings. Same happens when you change one car to another. So of course we need correctly simulated physics, but 90% (number is abstract) of correctness is enough let's say - more than this is will be absorbed by our relative world perception - this is natural ability of our flexible mind. And modern sims are pretty close to this state in my opinion. The one thing simulated not so well in iracing - cars reactions on collision between each other are way off. Other than that it's all nuances. Let's see what they do with upcoming rain. :) I hope I answered you question, and please watch the second part of this video - it is a little bit more technical and less abstract - hopefully you will like it more. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--1_B_qjbJUc.html
Great channel, I have really been enjoying your content and progress. So much so that I am looking to buy myself a car and drive a season or two. With that in mind can you recommend which engine seems best, (r1, gsx, Kwak etc). Also can you race in the 750mc f1000 series with a standard racing licence? Keep up the great work. All the best Josh
Thank you Josh, pleasure to hear it! I am not so much a technical guy, and it was a couple of years ago now, but back then everyone kinda agreed, that suzuki gxsr is slightly more powerful engine, but yamaha r1 is a little bit more reliable. I don't have any numbers to prove or refute it, but 90% of f1000s are equipped with gsxr. And I don't think other engines are allowed in f1000 regs. You need standard fia race licence, back then club level was enough for f1000, but it was a matter of some discussions, so check it with organisers to be safe.
@@search4orlife I think it is absolutely worth the cost. It is very difficult to get such performance for this money. F1000 is very cheap...cheap by motorsport standards of course, which are not normal for normal people. :) This cars are arguably comparable in pace with fia f4 cars, and f4 cost many times more. Some would say even that f3 cars are in the same league - they absolutely aren't in my opinion, but it is true that you can fight with older f3 generations in f1000 (and I have such examples on my channel). Anyway this is very fast car for the money. Yeah, it is probably not as reliable as fia grade formulas, but even including all additional costs it is incomparably cheaper. And what is maybe even more important - it is very fun to drive, and it gives proper handling and balance, that not many saloons have. Ask if anything, no worries.
Почти - соревнуются за унылое первенство с занудами в интернете. 🤣 А если серьезно, то не хуже многих других видов спорта если втянуться, главное не забывать наливать 😁
Well, yes and know. Of course I understand immediately that I'm making mistake - like missing apex, braking to early or to late, going into turn to narrow, etc etc. But I can't say precisely how it affects my laptime, because laptime is based on many variables, not only driving - like tires condition, air and track temperature, how track is rubbered, sometimes slip stream, etc. So I know that I made a mistake, how big it is approximately, but not exactly. But I have delta timer in the car, which shows in real time how faster or slower I am in the moment than the fastest lap. Sometimes you can see I'm looking somewhere to the side - I'm looking at delta timer.
Well, honestly I think we both could do better in that situation. But I can say it now, looking back with a cool head, but back then in the car I felt differently. But I hope all these cases made me much calmer as a driver. :)
