Hey! I'm a professional SSBM Fox player from New York City. I plan on uploading analysis, guides, and stream highlights from twitch.tv/iBDW, and eventually plan on expanding into other games. Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my channel! I hope you enjoy it.
i find it insane when people say they hate how you play because it's lame and optimal. you are easily the greatest solo fox of all time. your studied form of melee is art to me. i remember during your run back vs soonsday at some tournament, soonsay did some swag thing against you and during the same game, you hit him back with it and harder. it was a small interaction but i think about weekly.
Cody you are awesome. You are literally the fox GOAT. I have mad respect for your mental game and general approach to overcoming your weaknesses. It's been inspiring to watch you give it your all with everything you've had to face. I look forward to seeing you compete in the future, but for now rest easy hero. You've earned it.
Smash Ultimate will do this to you as well , glad you are working on yourself. I ultimately quit smash bros altogether and have made strides in my life.
Social media ruins the fun of esports back when I started in 2013 the community was way more wholesome because the only way anyone communicated was through smashboards now everyone communicates through Twitter and starts fights people. People would beef back in the day but it was nowhere near as frequent as it is today. The pursuit of money and fame online is evil it makes people act pathetic.
As a casual viewer I always just thought Cody was a good ass villain. Unfortunately it seems the scene sucks at appreciating those kinds of players and the storylines they inspire. Big fan
anyone who hyperfixates on a certain topic every day for years on end is considered to have a level of autism, all grinders of games aren't normal or healthy but the bottom line is the level of fun you're having with the whole grind experience. If you aren't wanting it you really start to feel the unhealthy aspects of the grind weigh on you, which also comes with age and being a top melee player at almost 30 is much more demanding than being a top player at 20.
mango had a similar thing with demotivation and barely anybody understood but I think it's bc most players are so much younger than him, they don't know the feeling of not getting what they want for all the work they put in
Hey Cody, Been a fan of you since you upset HBox at Summit 8. More than your actual gameplay, I've come to appreciate your insightful commentary and healthy attitude towards the game and yourself. It's a real breath of fresh air compared to the flippancy and, frankly, toxicity of many other top players. If you think that what's best for you is a Plup or PPMD type of approach, with less active involvement in tournaments and the scene, then I want you to know that, for at least one fan, that changes nothing. I'll still tune in to hear what you have to say. Take care of yourself ❤.
Not going to act like I keep up with the community but the way you react to the game and handle yourself publicly is why you get people not favoring you. Self-reflection is the best way and I think it's good if people can become self aware. So I agree with stepping back.
I also have autism myself, and you are one of the players I look up to in smash so well, and It’s ok to take a break, even for a long time, I’m really sorry how a lot of people treated you, It’s fucked up and you don’t deserve it. you’re the best Cody! ❤️ glad I met you at riptide!
I’ll miss you. I’m sorry if we didn’t do a good enough job drowning out the haters. It’s honestly pathetic how we have lost so many top players through no fault of our own usually yet for some reason still take them for granted enough to bully some of them out of the scene. It’s so bullshit and I wish something could be done. You think the same people wallowing about PP or armada would know better but ig not.
I don't blame you dude. Ive been in the community for 10+ years and the shift in the community has been astronomical. It's so gatekept, full of hatred, and all around unpleasant. Full of people with incredibly thin skin, yet also full of hatred and openly express it. I completely understand why people like M2K and Armada stepped away from this cess pool of a scene. The top players dont speak about any of this toxicity because often it derives from their own values (Mango's extreme and irrational criticism of Armada leaving the scene for example or Leffen getting away with literally everything simply because other top players stayed silent once he broke into the top 5 and gained influence) on top of the fact these toxic individuals contribute towards their twitch paycheck. Yet our community is full of sheep that follow whatever the top players believe. We always had toxicity, but it was never bad mannered and stayed almost always within the confines of the game. That isn't the case anymore. People take this hobby that's supposed to be an escape, way too seriously. Glad I left, will never look back.
oh masking all the time sounds fucking miserable. im sorry you've had to deal with that, and i hope your new approach to melee gives you some much needed space.
Cody man I just wanna say, I think it's good you're taking a break. But just know, whenever you're the best you're ALWAYS gonna have haters. What comes with being massively loved , unfortunately comes with being hated. You're massively respected in the smash/content space, but it's also a good idea to detach from public opinion so the haters don't get to your head. Take a nice 3 week vacation somewhere and chill, you the man cody
Hey man. I never even noticed anything wrong with you dude you seem totally normal and like a bright young dude. Love you in the melee scene you’re a titan.. whether you decide to keep playing or not I’ve enjoyed watching your performance.
You're great for the scene but I respect this decision. I'm a nobody who shouldn't matter but if it does mean anything I'm happy you're making choices that prioritize yourself.
It's pretty easy 2 algorithmically apply noise 2 a recognizable pattern 2 the point the pattern is not consciously recognizable but has a subconscious influence
Love to see you and also how candid you've been about your personal journey is refreshing and makes you a great role model. I'll never stop watching your games and being astounded by your gameplay
GL man I hope that whatever happens you come out feeling better and in a better place. I've always tried to give you the benefit of the doubt because you mostly come across as well-meaning and I hope others (including yourself) continue to do so as you continue to get the help you need. Sounds like you have a good general plan and I hope that it pans out well for you. Glad to have you around.
Anyone who actually hates you is just bad at the game. You're absolutely incredible at the game in so many ways, and it makes me really sad that the community doesn't see how much you have pushed the meta to what it is now. My goat fr.
You're amazing, Cody! Good for you for taking a step back and focusing on yourself. You've got a whole lot of people rooting for you, both in the game and outside of it!
