Thankyou Sir, I like that! I am just getting into macro, as I spend a fair bit of time on the patio making things and looking @ garden and seeing the wonderful thing that inhabit it I thought I'd get my camera out and try capture some of them. Big learning curve! So a thankyou Sir to you and James for your contribution to this endeavor. TFS, GB :)

This is sadly the lazy option. Whilst providing homes is better than no homes we should not be using drilled holes or bamboo canes if you want to help the solitary bees maximise their next generation. Holes and bamboo will get infested with pollen mites, Houdini flies, mono wasps, and other pests as left empty in the spring and cannot be cleaned out. Other wildlife and beekeeping organisations strongly recommend either nesting blocks that can be opened and cleaned out between uses or cardboard tubes that can be cheaply replaced to be housed in a standard nesting box that you get at any garden centre. See RU-vid videos by Crown Bees (I am in no way affiliated with them, they just have good explanations).
@ukwildlife
@ukwildlife Месяц назад
@@eastcoast4233 Its a wildlife habitat, not a beehive. I aim to provide habitats for all wildlife, which includes some of those fantastic nest parasites that cant survive elsewhere. They are not 'pests' but equally valuable species, in fact many are much rarer here in the UK than the Red Mason Bees. Im not going to kill them because of some outdated idea bees are more 'valuable' Im not just breeding mason bees to harvest rhem and supply pollinators for orchard monocultures, which is where this you HAVE to line nest tubes with removable tubes idea comes from. This colony has been growing for 10 years and even with parasites, there are still more now than there was before, plus many other species. Bees are a small section of our pollinators and food chains, so please don't go round lecturing others and calling them lazy due to them not aligning to farming methods

They look very happy! I’ve been doing research and It is recommended to replace bee hotels after 2 years, or wen cracks/splints emerge to reduce the possibility or fungal infection or other diseases 😮 Maybe you can try making another and slowly replace vacant spots in the old one? Just a suggestion! Hope mine looks as busy as yours one day ❤️

Just watched this again, especially since I've now got a OM1 myself. I'd say the auto focus lock on rate is very good compared to trying it on my old omd1 mk2. Going to try this bird detection on insects myself .

Dude, please do not tell me these toads are poisonous because earlier I touched one because my dogs almost killed it and they wouldn’t leave them alone so I decided to put them somewhere safe far away from my dogs, and then while I was holding the other one, I had one on my other hand, which was I think a kid in one the opposite hand which I think was the mother or the father and then the mother or the father was making that sound someone please tell me what that means when they make that sound because I thought the kid looked really cute and my dogs put it in a hole in the dirt so then I had a pool right next to it so I decided to wash off the dirt from it in the pool and then I was trying to figure out what to do with it then I put it somewhere around my house and that’s when I found the mother or the father so then I put the kid right next to the mother or the father but then I realized that my dogs were trying to find it and if they found them, they would tear them up so then I got two gloves I grabbed both the mother or father and then the kid frog would still. I think it was adorable and then I bring them over far away and that’s when it happened. The sound that it was making so so in the comments, please tell me what it means when they make that sound. Edit. I’m really sorry I made this comment really long. I just had a really long story to tell.

Thanks for the tips. I'm trying to shoot them . I got 1 photo with my Tamron @300mm the D fly perched with its thorax straight in the air. They don't hover and there very fast. Very hard to photograph
@ukwildlife
@ukwildlife 4 дня назад
Thanks. It can really depend on the species and individual. Ive never managed a great shot of a Brown Hawker, but a Common Hawker once hovered for so long I was able to change camera bodies to both film and then photograph it in hovering!
