July is the best time to observe them. A lovely countryside there. Excellent photos! I love them! I have captured some in my garden. Thank you for sharing. Warm greetings!

Thanks, I think I was a week too late for the peak of White faced Darters and Azure Dragonflies, but plenty of the other species there - when the sun was out that is!

Just binged my way through all your dragonfly tour videos. Wow! Lovely footage in all of them, i can imagine how hard those in flight shots are to get. Brilliant work!

Thanks so much. The flight shots were hard work in some cases, but a bit of persistence and luck seemed to pay off!

Great shots of the ovipositing northern emerald! While Ive found them not to be "rare" in the right spots, finding them there and getting such good views is still really challenging!

Thanks, yes I got lucky with that one. Like a lot of insects and invertebrates I guess, can be rare on a country or county scale but loads in one small area!

Lovely video, and I have been to Scotland for ages, and previously the weather defeated me in my search for the Scottish specialities. As regards WFD, I'm not sure about the Scottish timings, but on Fenns and Whixall Moss NNR, by July there's not many left and you only get the odd one. Also, the amount of Sphagnum cover on pools, is crucial for them using it. Your Sundew was the ironically named Drosera anglica. I say ironically, because it's a lot more widespread in Scotland. The leaves looked too long for Drosera intermedia, but they can get confused.

Thanks! I was a week too late, (the season is a bit later in Highlands) as coupled with the 2022 drought, this meant the WFD were done - though I do wonder if I found the Tansley Bog on the 1st try if there might have been 1 about, there were plenty along with Azure Hawker the week before I got there of course! I wimped out on IDing the sundews, I knew it wasn't round leaved, but I struggle separating the other two species, thanks for the ID And Im hoping to head up to Whixall Moss this year, to get the final species for my list!

Love that neck of the country. Up there in July. Have a couple of species I’d like. Nice video
