While FFT localization may not be perfect I still vastly prefer it to what they used in FFT:WotL. They added so much fake Old English nonsense that I find it really overbearing and annoying to read... It's like they can't even just say one thing normal in it. It drives me nuts.
Randomly found and watched your vid visiting Vanillaware HQ and wanted to thank you for reassuring George about the freaks we have to put up with in the west. Still makes my blood boil remembering when that BS kotaku article went up all those years back.
I talk with my connects there on a somewhat regular basis, they know we got love for them and what they do, no matter what the grifters write on their blogs
I love the raunchiness of Dragons Crown not because I’m a pervert, because it’s over the top proportions are hilarious! Sorcs booba flapping in the wind when she casts is too funny.
@@guerrillavanilla I've always gotten the impression that they really just don't want their games on PC. I'm not sure if that's the case or what it is, but especially these days where certain console manufacturers are unhappy with fanservice and lewd anime content, PC handhelds are killing it, and in Japan and many places where games like these are appreciated PC gaming's userbase/popularity is growing, it really is a shame that they don't offer PC ports as an option.
Bro, I just noticed the localization issue also affected Vanillaware games, and then here you are bringing up the problem! But it's good to see true fans not backing up on this. Personally I won't buy the English version until they only translate instead of localize. The same goes for other JRPGs too! Vote with your wallet, fuck these SJW localizers.
I played the demo and it seemed like basically the same type of localization that Odin Sphere got. And frankly the OP complaining about the localization struck me as an unreliable source. They took multiple dialog boxes that were packed with characters and basically reduced it down to a five word sentence. It definitely feels like his literal translation was reductive and losing a lot of nuance. Nothing that I've seen in the demo raised an eyebrow for me. If the original japanese was written in an extremely formal old fashioned almost archeic sort of way, then a hoity toity shakespeare wannabe type of english localization is a fair fit in my mind. But like i said it basically just feels like Odin Spheres localization so i dont see what the big deal is. Game is fucking dope as hell btw
I think it will raise eyebrows right now because of the localization problems anime industry was discussing. I think I raised an eyebrow when a simple attack scream became an dialogue line but I hope its good and not change characters and relationships too much I had this problem with previous tatics games localization before.
@randomfox12245, They did dirty to 13 sentinels. I have the game on Yuzu, but then noticed what they did and immediately switched to other versions to avoid that bull. The worries about UO is that the localization team might be the same all long, so it could be the same cringe wokalizers who just can't forcefully add Gamergate references in a medieval-themed title. If the next title uses japanese character trope and plot, then the localization may very well be "wokalized."
I just played it. They extended character lines in English, and it is so obvious to notice when you have Japanese voice on. This isn't something that I had problem with in Odin Sphere with JP voice. The speech pacing is completely unmatched. Unfortunately, I will wait for Asia vesion. Thank god I speak a second language.
Yep just use AI instead of these "Localizers". Some of them just bastardize some characters just because they feel like their english translation needs to be done based on their feelings and stuff that doesn't really matter. It's ridiculous.
the localization is fine it's basecly shekespere-like i played the demo and nothing i've seenhas a sign of woke or unfit diologue the people overeact to this
Hey man good to see you posting a video. Yeah I will buy and play it because its Vanillaware Im hopping they did not change it too much but I played the original Muramasa that did have a worst translation so its nothing new. Im debating if I will play with the EN voices or the JP ones looks like they changed some of the characterization or just taking a simple line and putting a joke but if hope its enjoyable. Im liking the countdown artwork and all the designs I saw from the game looks cool. You got the new artbook cool I wanted to buy it but the shipping for my country after 2020 skyrocketed,Im looking foward to your video with the merch you have and I hope the things you are dealing with goes smooth here on out.
Thanks for the comment brother, I agree. I talked with one of my Vware connects last night about this issue and he brought up the Muramasa translation as well 😂
I tried playing the game in an emulator. I'm glad that we have Cheats that can unlock all of the items that you can purchase even in the online war mode. I gotta admit that it is too grindy for its own good, but the power fantasy with your select 4-man squad is nice
@@guerrillavanilla Yeah it's insane. However I also heard what the localizers added to 13 sentinels (the binary shit and other pc stuff) in the English version. I really wish Vanillaware would not allow that to happen or find a different solution for translation. And this wokalization shit has been happening to other JRPGs too.
There's an english translation patch for both Kurohyou 1 and 2 made by TeamK4L. I think you can find their channel/website for further info and download link. Sorry for the late reply btw.
I gave up on that as well. Use the shaders to make your game look better instead. It seems that the guy who did the hd retexture of this game is a scammer who steals other people's retexture work and only adds little work on the side.
As a fan of Vanillaware games since Muramasa the Demon Blade on the Wii, this brought a smile to my face. I'm glad they are not caving in to western audiences and making their games as they see fit. Hope this studio has a long and prosperous lifespan.
If you have to exploit and cheat to make even decent amounts of money, then something is wrong with the game. DoA Exteme 3 sucks donkey nuts. Of course KT does this so you'll buy their stupid micro transactions.
Interesting video - although why do you label (11:58) the opposing side as "weird racists" as the issue has nothing to do with race or being against japanese people? More like someone in a position to influence others ("journalist"), is using this position as a leverage to push his/her or their bosses moral principles on others. That said, I've got some Vanillaware games on my shelf.
Being angry that other cultures (Japan for example) express women in art differently than ours is an impulse driven by thinking we are better than they are
I missed out on Vanillaware until Dragon's Crown Pro and 13 Sentinels for the PS4. What's really peaked my interest is Unicorn Overlord as someone who'se deeply into Strategy games. Bit of a shame Vanillaware never releases PC versions, I'm heavily considering buying a PS5 copy and playing it on the Steam Deck when it inevitably works (as I did waste money on a PS5 already, and don't own a Switch.)
beowulf even in higher difficulty is easy he just do the exact same thing as normal. To avoid him using those annoying light missles is just stay close to him and continue to attack him, then about those cages use the sword throw by changing your style to lvl. 2 sword master or just use helm breaker to just send those cages back to him. Just continue to attack his face since he takes a lot of dame from it and it's his weakness
I wish they made a sequel to grim grimoire, it’s one of my favorite games and main storyline is much too short. I had gamer’s remorse for a good two weeks after I finished it 😭
Just finish playing Grim Grimoire Once More love the gallery and the changes they made to that game and finally started 13 Sentinels then I remembered this video and notice that I watched 3 years ago close to when I brought the game and I was still putting out to play problaby because I like Fantasy more then Scifi. Im very curious about Unicorn Overlord I normally like my Strategy RPG with Drama and political intrigue like Tatics Ogre or FF Tatics but looks like they are going with a more simple aproach that can be good if nail the characters and their stories/ interactions. Its sad to hear they are not making a port for Muramasa for now Kamitani did not say the reasons so im curious if it is marvelous that dont want to do it,Sony asking for changes or its just techinical problems because the game was for the wii and then the small screen of vita or lack of staff. Now is the wait for Unicorn overlord and the next game that will be directed by Kamitani that Im very curious to see if he will do art for that or if he will choose another staff member like in 13 sentinels and if it will be another visual novel like.
