longlegs just came to cinemas in my country so i finally watched it (and could finally watch this video too), and oh my god i could not agree more with everything said here. it all just felt pointless. me and my friend also had that moment of looking at each other like ???? when the credits rolled. i don’t think it should be possible for a horror movie to be boring at the cinema but longlegs sure was. i really wanted to like it too, but the parts that felt like they could’ve been impactful were dropped and forgotten so fast. it’s truly as if the creators couldn’t care less about making a movie and instead focused all of their energy on the marketing, which, to be fair was very successful. unfortunate and a bit embarrassing that the movie failed so abysmally.
honestly, i also was a bit thrown off by the paranormal turn the movie took (since i wasn’t expecting it at all and paranormal horror isn’t usually my fav) but i reallyyyy don’t think that you have to be religious or anything to be scared by the plot. i myself am a very skeptical person by nature, and this movie made me literally afraid of the devil, as a representation of intangible evil that can't be stopped in any way. once they catch longlegs, far from being anticlimactic, it creates a feeling of total helplessness or despair, like cruelty is much bigger than this individual person who personifies the villain. i also had unanswered questions at the end of the movie, but the overall experience was so unsettling and immersive that I can only be grateful for an original work of art that pays homage to horror. personally i don't need an explanation for anything, the experience of watching it was MORE than enough (also the performances were top tier) + i also disagree with the criticism about transphobic undertones in the villain's design. i actually found it to be really original, even when compared to silence of the lambs. i avoided all marketing and trailers for the movie to go in completely blind, so i can't really comment on whether they exaggerated the villain's scariness or not, but overall i enjoyed having a serial killer being expressed differently than we're used to seeing in recent years. besides, I believe it's a mistake to think that their appearance is the main thing aimed to scare us, when in reality it's what we know the character brings with them that should ultimately scare us. (and also don’t think that them not showing longlegs’ face in the movie previews is them saying anything, i really enjoy when movies don’t fully expose their villains for the most part, it makes it scarier) most serial killers in horror movies aren't scary exclusively because of their design or physical appearance, but because of what they represent (i was just now able to watch this episode now that the film was FINALLY released in my country😞)
Wasn't really going to watch this movie cuz I saw the director hating on the maxxxine trilogy while praising his own work but the puppet and lesbian witch has convinced me!! Ill pirate the movie then come back 😂
i think u would so love the channel: rattus rattus. they have an alt aesthetic and are very crafty! when you were talking about ur bag n patches, that reminded me about them if u don't already know about them :>
Im watching this a little late in mid-August, but wtf walmart for only allowing the Americans to get good pride stuff and Canada gets cheap stuff 😢 (the Quality is like cheep dollar store not even a good one )
I moved earlier this year (just across town, not very far) so I feel you on decluttering before moving. I've been in my new place for about 5 months now and I still want to keep getting rid of things. I used to have a collector's mentality as well for anything I was into but it just results in so much stuff that doesn't matter and all of it stresses me out now!!! I don't like minimalism in terms of the stereotypical beige/gray/white etc but I definitely prefer clear surfaces, not a lot of clutter, not a lot of "extra" stuff in sight when I'm in my apartment (I love colors and having art on my walls but just not physical clutter). Also re shaving, personally I still shave but like once a week max lol (once-ish per week during summer and like mayyybe once a month during winter, sometimes I just like having smooth legs), my skin gets irritated if I shave more frequently even if I am exfoliating and moisturizing. During covid I grew out literally all my body hair when I wasn't leaving my house but I didn't love how it felt, so a happy medium of shaving less frequently works for me :) I wish more people would just do what they want with their body hair and stop judging what others do, it's all personal preference & comfort!
Awwww my cat just got dental surgery and it was the first time I have ever dropped him off and left him at the vet, it's so scary! He did great and you guys are great cat moms 💕
The “don’t try at 3am” description 😂 but for real I’m happy the surgery went well. The emotional process of needing the vet to check up and work on a pet is very real and hard.
