"Why do theme parks exist?" "How did theme parks come to exist?" "WHO even made these theme parks exist?!"
These are the often-overlooked questions we dare to ask at TPSE (the channel formerly known as Park Ride History). So join me as we explore the anomalous nature of theme parks, research the history behind them, and see how some of them (still) exist today.
Questions. Over time how well would the exterior shell hold up to UV rays and also in the event of a fire I would think fumes would kill occupants before they could escape esp. at night. Comments? / Very good video, btw.
Comments on this are either a) I remember something about growing up. or b) I am going to bring up generational hatred towards an entire group of people, the manority of which had nothing to do with anything in this video, because I can't find anyone of said race to yell at or I can and believe they might use logic to destroy the narrative I am trying to push!
Just about anyone would love to live in that house today... it's actually a timeless modern design that could have been continually updated with the newest tech. But sadly it was just wiped from history... not even sold to someone who would have enjoyed it. What a shame Disney!
A black former slave lady made the recipe but as was common at the time a white person took all the credit. I’d truly appreciate if you would correct and make a note of that.
Whaaat? I left america in 2005 after 33 yrs there, i cant believe they took aunt Jemima 's logo off the pancakes mix and syrup bottles! I grew up with that on our table. Is miss Butterworth's gone too? 😆😆
I'm a Canadian kid who grew up with real maple syrup. I associate Aunt Jemima with gross tasting sugar goop. Nasty. Aunt Jemima blows. Am I a racist? Is maple syrup racist? Are maple trees racist? All trees? I need to know. Also, I have two testicles and enjoy sex with women. The more, the merrier. What gender am I? Is Aunt Jemima a symptom of our patriarchal society? Was Uncle Ben a domineering husband?
Soon after that brand's packaging was reported to change, I bought cases of each for posterity and knowing collectors decades from now would pay for unopened boxes and bottles of that excellent product line. They are all tucked away in my food bunker.
What is the problem with Aunt Jemima? How is Aunt Jemima racist? Is Betty Crocker racist? Who decides what is and what is not racist? Is this just an effort to create hatred, and to divide us? Is Amos and Andy racist? What about the Three Stooges? Or the Real McCoys? What makes a character a racist icon? I don't seen any of them as racist. What I do see is people who are looking for ways to divide the American people, and to create offense where no offense exists.
Here in Mexico they branded her as "La negrita". I didn't live around that time but with a bit of research I found her being depicted with a Cuban accent which was fitting cuz back then there was a really famous cuban singer called "Celia Cruz". Mexico was mostly detatched from the stereotype of "nanny" or "mommy" so I don't think it was that controvertial. That being said... She was "tropicalized" since Celia Cruz and other artists brought a wave of "beach music" to this country so instead of the depiction of her as a nanny she was depicted as a jolly and bold musical woman. Overall, the image of the jolly caribbean was mostly positive but I can imagine how somebody would get uncomfortable by such depictions. Funny how she got changed from one racist stereotype to another.
13:00 this feels like present day history being injected in to the past the whole "PC" became mainstream in the 1990s prior to the 1980's it was socialist and communist party that utilized the notion but not name
@@Salve_Regina8 How you do a quick search. It’s not illegal to learn unless you were of African descent in the 16, 17, 18 century in America or other colonized countries. Give it a shot and look him up.
Lots of people enjoy their visits to Disney - a big treat to look forward to. We had this pancake mix in our home - tasty. I was born in the fifties but Disney stuff always creeped me out and made me sad. It felt so fake and foreign to me.
Taking her image off the box was a horrible thing to do. What you’re saying is that she is somehow bad or that you’re ashamed of her. Shame on you actually!
I'm not an avid smoker, but I do enjoy a nice cigar or pipe once in a while. A smoke shop in Disney World? Did they sell pipes? And if so, were they any good? Now once you got your smoke, where could you smoke it? The idea is not just to smoke, but to enjoy your smoke. So you just had a nice dinner. That's a nice time to enjoy a smoke. You just had dinner, and now you're ready for your smoke. You brought with you your pipe and tobacco, but you passed by the tobacco shop on main street earlier in the day, so you decided to stop in and see what they have. The tobacco you bought at the Disney smoke shop smelled so good, and the salesman told you it's one of their most popular tobaccos. A lot of people buy this one. So now you're ready for your smoke. It's in the evening, almost dark. You take out your pipe (everyone has their favorit pipe shape) and you carefully load it so it smokes well. That is the pipe doesn't keep going out and you have to relight it ten times. Who are you with? Wife, Family, or Girlfriend? Of course women don't smoke pipes. But who says they can't? There's grandma sitting on the front porch of her house in the mountains. She smokes a pipe here and there, now and then. So now you light your pipe. Just then two guys walk by also smoking pipes. One guy says, "I like the smell of your tobacco. What is it, and where did you get it?" Right here in Disney World. Here in Disney World? Yep! They sell tobacco in Disney World? Not only do they sell tobacco like at a drugstore, they have an entire tobacco shop. Really? Yes, and it's on main street.
as a mixed race child of the sixties, whenever we'd go to Disneyland we'd eat at Jemima's - with my mom always joking that it was the only place where she could see her own people. with my folks now gone - i know they'd be saddened by all the hullabaloo about removal of that place (along with the "wild indians" from the peter pan ride, and showing pirates being chased by women)!!
