Nordic Semiconductor is a Norwegian fabless semiconductor company specializing in wireless communication technology that powers the Internet of Things (IoT). Nordic was established in 1983 and has about 1450 employees across the globe. Our award-winning Bluetooth Low Energy solutions pioneered ultra-low power wireless, making us the global market leader. Our technology range was later supplemented by ANT+, Thread, and Zigbee, and in 2018 we launched our low power, compact LTE-M/NB-IoT cellular IoT solutions to extend the penetration of the IoT. The Nordic portfolio was further complemented by Wi-Fi technology in 2021.

Do you have a video with testing in real conditions with some obstacles between the boards (static ones like furniture or columns and movable like people wandering around)? Thanks in advance!

We would like to purchase nRF9160 DK board and review Nordic modem development for next year new our project. Q1. I would like to know how to download the full source/lib/package for my nRF9160 DK board. (for build myself) Q2. I would like to build the nRF9160 source/library myself and download the generated elf/bin/hex to my nRF9160 DK board. Q3. I would like to add and implement a development apps to my nRF9160 DK board. What guide should I refer to to my 3 questions?

how come there is no recording / information about the instant voltage and energy (e. g. kWh)? I assume that the power supply does not provide a perfectly stable voltage (eg when under heavy load), hence this will affect power consumption, no? And how to interpret the charge information?
@NordicSemi
@NordicSemi 20 дней назад
Charge measures the total amount of electric charge passing through your circuit (Q = I*t). We cannot accurately measure the energy as like you say, the voltage is often fluctuating, but the charge measurement which is less dependent on voltage can still help you calculate how fast a battery will be depleted when you know it's capacity rating. The PPK2 is first and foremost a tool to let developers inspect the current consumption to fine tune sleep modes, peripheral usage etc, but we will report your query back to the developer team.

Hello, I need to develop a very small code that doesn't use the module conf_bt_peripheral, is it possible to create a bluetooth receiver without this configuration? it will overflow my memory. The final goal is just to receive a byte and turn a red or a green light.
@NordicSemi
@NordicSemi 20 дней назад
Hello, you do not mention what SoC you are using, but we assume it is one with very little memory. If it is an nRF52811, nRF52810, or nRF52805, they are not suitable to be Bluetooth receivers, as the central stack takes up a lot of memory. You can alternatively look at the nRF5 SDK, where the stack itself is smaller since it doesn't run on an RTOS. You can find the technical documentation here: docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/sdk_nrf5_v17.1.0/page/index.html Bluetooth LE examples in the nRF5 SDK can be found here: docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/sdk_nrf5_v17.1.0/page/examples_ble.html Technical Documentation For more technical help, please reach out to our tech support team on DevZone: devzone.nordicsemi.com

What is the longest chain of consecutive relay nodes allowed or possible? Also, the claim for many years of battery life is a bit hard to grasp in the case of nodes acting as relay or sink nodes because these devices apparently will be always active and trafficking data back and forth. So is this claim still valid for these nodes?
@NordicSemi
@NordicSemi 20 дней назад
The longest route would be 255 nodes, that is the maximum route cost, see TS 103 636-4 section 6.4.3.2 Route Info IE. Relay and sink nodes do not always have to be active and trafficking data, this depends on the requirements of the network. For example, consider a sensor network that collects data 24 hours a day, but reports this data to the cloud once a day. The sink node can be on for 1 hour a day to run the network and sleep for the rest of the time. Relay nodes can also state that they will listen and forward traffic for 1 second and sleep for, say 30. This does however require that the application does not send a lot of data and is okay with long latency. The standard does not limit this, so it is up to the specific implementation. For example, Wirepas' current implementation "Wirepas 5G Mesh" is listening all the time.

Would be nice if the mesh network (ie. above the PHY level) were free, or at least have transparent pricing, instead of the "get in touch" stuff.
@NordicSemi
@NordicSemi 20 дней назад
Nordic currently only provides the PHY level, which is completey free of charge, but distributed through our sales, which is why we ask that you get in touch with them, through this simple form (www.nordicsemi.com/About-us/Contact-Us). The rest of the stack (including the mesh network) is delivered by solution partners, currently we have Wirepas and Lynq. It is up to the individual partners how they price their products and communicate this with their customers.

Hello I'm having issues with Visual Studio Code and the nrf SDK. I followed your tutorial as instructed and installed the application as administrator on both windows 10 and 11 (and insatalled the nordic SDK software and command line tools and j-link drivers (just like your videos). I installed the toolchain and a matching sdk (i tried v2.5.1 and v2.6.1) then successfully made a build configuration for my nRF52840 DK I made sure to keep the install paths close to the root directory But VS code does not recognize my board. Under connected devices it detects a connected device with numbers like "10040086720" but does not say "nRF52840 DK" like yours does. I cannot flash the application with errors saying: "ERROR: No debuggers were discovered. NOTE: For additional output, try running again with logging enabled (--log). NOTE: Any generated log error messages will be displayed.
