Awesome videos, I was wondering how you determine how deep to troll at? Are you going off water temp or just where your marking fish on your electronics. Also at what speed are you trolling? I have fished cayuga quit a bit jigging for lakers but want to start trolling with downriggers. Thanks!
@@BeerMoneyRanch Thank-you! So the short answer is, it depends. For instance if I am trolling walleye I want my presentation as close to bottom without getting caught up as possible , I like that 3-5 foot range. Trout and suspended walleye, I am going off where I mark fish and I stay above the marks 5-7 feet. Speed will depend on what you are running. But a good place to start is 1.7 -1.9mph. Try to pair your presentations so you have something that will work on all your lines for the speed range you will troll. I hope this helps and Thanks again for supporting my channel! I wish you luck with the downriggers, I think you will love running them! See you on the water! John
Wallenpaupack is a love hate relationship. LoL 3 color lead was the perfect setup to skim the top of most the down timber there. Striper / Wiper fishing was my favorite..
@@jasonpalladino7895 Totally agree, some days I come off that lake and think it is a top tier fishery, others I can only shake my head. I am looking forward to fall up there once the boat traffic dies off.
@NE-EliteFishing spring, fall when it's just anglers is ideal. But I'm spoiled now. My family relocated to the finger lakes. Boat traffic is non-existent compared to PA & NJ. ;)
@@WallyHunter1875 Hi, Yes this is a retriever made by scotty. It makes life much easier and more importantly safer especially on rough water. No reaching to grab the clip. The following link will take you right to it. Let me if you need help with install, I replaced the Cannon terminations on mine with Scotty products as well, I have more confidance in the clip for the weight when I bounce them off bottom for lake trout. I hope this was helpful. See you on the water! @@cassidylawrence3925 My go to for casting is the blade bait, the shiver minnow is another great option. You will probably find them in the deeper water 20-25 ft. I think you are going to have great weekend with the upcoming weather change. Good luck, let me know how you make out! John
@@bobpierre9517 They are made by a company called I one blade baits, they are bad boy blade baits. They just have great balance and feel, better than any of the others I have tried in my opinion.
You are correct not all Walleye move up to spawn. Walleye females do not reach "sexual maturity" until around age 4-5 and males around 3. This is why it is important to choose your keepers wisely. Because there are far more Walleye that are not spawners than there are spawners (Keep the younger ones, release potential spawners). The females will lay up to 100k eggs, spawn at night time and actually spawn out in 1 night but the migration can take up to a couple of weeks. Where I live the Conservation has determined about 17.5" long is the size of a mature female/male (in Canada we go by length not weight).
@@TravisInCanada1 Totally agree, they make a great meal but I will rarely keep any. I will take stocked trout on occasion for a meal. It is my understanding that females growth rate is faster but the males will end up bigger, I am guessing that is where the PA game commission gets the 5-7 year range to reach legal size.
A good multi species day but the hunt continues 😀 You may want to consider a clip on mic with a wind buffer it can help with your audio and wind noise. Tight lines!
They were sacked up around 133 bout last week 3of us limited out in 2 hours out from 3. Mile bay using brown jigs with half of worm caught other shorts and several perch and sunfish
I am thrilled you are enjoying the content. I hope to get out west at some point for some of the best fishing in the country. Nothing better than hunting down walleye, it is quickly becoming a favorite of mine! I appreciate you checkin out the channel and I hope you found something that gets you on the fish. See you on the water soon. John
Thanks for the feedback, the fishing is the easy part for me as I get more time with the camera the videos will get better, stick with me! Glad you checked us out!

Nice fish! I just got my first nice deep V boat and want to start going for salmon and lakers off Milwaukee. Any recommendations for bare minimum items to get started?
If you are going to be fishing the bigger fisheries I would say get a good kicker motor. It saves a ton of hours on the main motor and gives you a way to get back to shore if you lose main engine power. Also get 18' or bigger. I had a 16'6" tracker and it was too small for the bigger lakes. Good luck in getting your new boat, send me a picture! I will also add I love my Ranger, great brand.
Thanks, it is VS1882, I purchased just the boat and Merc 150 and did all the electronics after, saved a ton of money doing it myself. Do you have a Ranger?
