My #1 goal is to help YOU find the BEST beach gear for you and your family. I do this by testing the heck out of everything I review, so you'll know exactly what to expect before you hit the beach.
Hi fellow Beach Gearheads! My name is Matty C the Beach Gear Guy.

Decent review, but who hangs out on a 30-35 wind mph day on the beach? Also you did not use contemporary competitive items for your demo. Did Beach Bub assist with that choice? Also the umbrella (beach bub) is a market style umbrella- what that means is it has a more solid frame for the fabric than the other 2 umbrellas used. Just by nature of the design those are weaker, especially in heavy winds. Maybe do a more honest review and use something more comparable. There are 40-65$ umbrellas with anchors that would be a better and more , uh, equal comparison especially on price point. So decent review on the product itself, but your comparisons are extremely weak, as in you used the most basic and cheapest versions of other umbrellas instead of something actually and functionally comparable - that also sell at half the price of this beachbub. 3/10 review.
@@BeachGearGuy I actually ended up taking it out today and it worked wonderfully! Thank you for the tutorial. I was able to set it up in about 5 minutes my first try so I call that a success! I just got back actually 😄 so I couldn't wait for the weekend lol
I have scoured the internet for a review of the Shibumi wind assist. Love the light weight and small foot print of the Shibumi but don't want to be left in the wind, or lack there of, after making such a large purchase.
I like it, but the tethers are dumb and the stakes are too small to mitigate wind. A better move for securing it and not taking up the whole beach with these stupid 50' tethers is to use some Amazon sandbag weights (fill them up with beach sand when you are setting up) and it looks like the corners of the Soli unzip and you can slide these in. They sell 7.5lb corner weights but it would be dumb to buy these because that's not much weight, and you have to add 30lbs to your beach hike each way. That sucks for no reason, not to mention the fact that weights sell for about $1-$1.50/lb, but Soli sells theirs for $10/lb. WTF. Just use empty sandbags and if there's not enough space to slide them into the corners then you can clip them on the loops. Problem solved.
Oh my gosh, THANK YOU!! I picked up this pop-up beach tent that came with NO instructions. After fighting with it most of the night, I came across your video. Seriously hit home that what may seem simple to some is highly frustrating to others. Appreciate the video!!
I have the product links in the description. Click on one of those links, and you will find the current price. Sorry to have upset you so. Peace & Love☮️🏖️
Very helpful, but do you have any idea of the difference between the Dark Shelter LX and the Silver Shelter XL? I can't seem to find anything clearly explaining the differences in the models. Not to mention there is the Instant Shader Deluxe and Instant Shader Enhanced. I'm confused. Help! Lol. You seem to be more helpful that the actual website.
Thanks! All of the beach shades you mentioned are the same size. I like the Easthills Outdoors Instant Shader Silver Shelter XL because the silver exterior reflects the sun and the black interior that blocks it. I get into more details in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zb6k3kWW5jY.htmlsi=EIx2P0muqEQuB12J Hope this helps.
@@BeachGearGuy Thanks a lot. I watched a lot of your videos today, and now I’m also thinking maybe the Cool Cabana canopy is the way to go because the tents may be hot. Two quick questions. Do you find the tent to be hot and how much wind can the Cool Cabana withstand based on your observations over the past few years? Thanks!
@@user-mv2jv3gz4g All half-dome beach tents will feel warm inside on a hot day with no breeze. I've used the Cool Cabana in 13 mph winds but I would recommend having a helper when setting it up in those conditions.
Could you do a comparison of the Big Tuna, the Shibumi and the Neso Grande? We are a family of 6 (4 children under 8) looking to invest in the right beach gear for our family. Recently stumbled on your channel and find it very helpful. Thank you for you videos!!
I checked out the Sunbuster cabana on the LL Bean website. I would go with the Qipi or the Ammsun beach cabana instead. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YIfDPWumRz4.htmlsi=QIRapxfAEJ2QEU2E ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Shekq1ORfyE.htmlsi=ySLgDa8bLPNjKELU
Man, your reviews are so thorough! If you had to fly/take a cruise, out of all the shades you've tried, which would you actually pack? (Trying to find <4lbs)
Thanks, yap! I would take the Shibumi Mini: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CTrWz-5HJSE.htmlsi=rb8PKUuUPYS34XO3. It's easy to set up, big enough for two people on beach chairs, and fits in a suitcase or carry-on. You just need a minimum three mph breeze for it to work.
@beachgearguy that last item of saying to put it in a container was the best piece of advise you could have given. I have one on the way now and will keep that in mind when I store it.
You should try Macsports padded camping chair. It's the most comfortable chair and I've owned two pairs for years with many trips to the beach. Only thing I had to do to keep it working properly is WD40 the joints. Only downfall is theirs learning curve to put it away and a little heavy to carry compared to those small backpack chairs. Which is actually why I found your video. Im looking for a more lightweight portable beach chair when we need an easy minimal beach day. Great video thanks! Think I'm gonna go with the Ostrich chair
I've preferred vertical beach carts because I can haul more beach chairs, but I like how I can transport two beach chairs with the Sand Warrior. This beach wagon also takes less effort to pull.
