Extra bit of trivia, the DC waterski show was written by Kenneth Johnson who also wrote/produced the bionic TV shows, the Incredible Hulk, the original V miniseries... Basically my childhood. I exchanged emails with him and as I remember he wrote the ski show because he had a crush on a water skier.
"I do not make films for children... or, at least, not primarily for children." "You're dead if you aim for kids." "We design the films to appeal to ourselves." I don't agree with the ending statement at all. They're icons. I'm glad Japanese Disney fans see the potential they have. They're all over Disneyland Tokyo in merch, as hosts to various shows, and deserve to be fleshed out more.
I never got tired of seeing that show! In fact I was upset When I went there 1 year and they got rid of the show! They need to bring these kind of shows back for families to watch!
I wish Roger Rabbit's Hollywood did happen. However I LOVE Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin and I wish I was 19 in 1993 seeing the opening of Mickey's Toon Town at Disneyland and seeing Roger Rabbit himself.
Huh, makes you wonder about the Helium shortage and where the garbage patch in the ocean came from? Surely it couldn't be because people in the 80's and 90's seemed to care so little about where the plastic was going and the fact that Helium is non-renewable. It's created by decay of radioactive substances and takes millions of years, and once in the atmosphere it is so light that it often rises to the top of the atmosphere and then solar winds strip it from the atmosphere. What we have is from collecting natural gas that is trapped underground, and they are estimating that we maybe have 100-200 years. Although I suppose we may get some from fusion reactors if we ever get a good breakthrough on that.
Saw this when I was a little boy I'll never forget Mira coming out when black manta was claiming he was the best barefoot water skier . She said, "You think you're the best barefoot water skier? No Aquaman. Is the best barefoot water skier!" And my hero comes around Skiing and waving
So the monster show in Japan is the same as the original Beetlejuice version. I did that show in 2008 as Wolfie. I then did the more updated version in its last year, which was in Singapore (closing in 2014). You can still find the Beetlejuice version in Japan, unchanged since opening in 2001.
Anita Bryant, as much as she’s awful, still did good with the songs. I like them but I don’t like the singer, I guess is the best way to say it. But, DOWN WITH THE HOMOPHOBIC PEOPLE!
I got to see the show twice as a kid. Tarzan was not part of either visit and that final group photo in your video is the only reference I've seen/heard of Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel being part of the show.
I liked some of the other videos you've done but you completely undersold the terrible history of aunt jemima, how the actresses playing her were treated and gave the guy in black face a pass just because he said a few things but still exploited a racist image.
I always found it weird how clarabelle was considered forgotten, as a kid who watched alot of Disney jr growing up, I still considered her apart of the main mickey cast because of mickey mouse clubhouse. I found it even stranger as a kid though seeing her in epic mickey as someone "forgotten", since I literally knew her from TV lol. I think a character who could actually be considered forgotten though is Clara cluck, who's barley been reappearing as of late, and doesn't have many cartoons to her own name too.
past generations were unbelievably stupid. how were there multiple balloon release events like this where nobody thought about how it would effect the environment??
