Poor little Orange Bird :( But fun fact! There's a HUGE (and I mean HUGE) Florida Citrus factory that my family passes on our way to Orlando from where we live in southwest Florida that still has a classic Donald statue on the roof!

The little Orange Bird has a simple and adorable design, it's a shame he was associated with a person like Anita Bryant. I'm glad he shed the stigma and is back at Disney Parks. He's still ridiculously cute. I never knew about Tangerine Bird though, is she limited time or something?

Just moved to Orlando from the Anaheim area so I just found out about this and I love it I feel like it needs more recognition and could have played a huge part in California Adventure but since they took the California theme and orange out it doesn't fit as much but could still be used on products :)

In the mid 70s we got to watch Anita Bryant film an OJ commercial at the Sunshine Tree Terrace at Disney World (with the Orange Bird)! To this day, we still always get an Orange Slush drink at the Terrace (been doing that since the 70s)! A few months later we saw that commercial on tv!

“Doing away with” clearly means moving it out of the public sphere, not exterminating. That was a long time ago and it wasn’t normal for homosexuality to be seen as such an identity in those days.

We saw the Orange Bird at the Terrace back in the mid 70s, he walked my sister and I over to the counter and gave us an Orange Slush drink! Ever since then we've ALWAYS gotten an Orange Slush drink at the Terrace. Heck I bet you even served me one back in the late 80s! My family been going to wdw since October 25, 1971 (my sisters birthday)..

Can you do a Character Course on the Muppet walkarounds? The Muppets appeared in the 90's for two stage shows "Here Come the Muppets" and "Muppets on Location: Days of Swine and Roses." Followed by those stage shows, Kermit and Miss Piggy did meet and greets throughout the 90's. Followed by the Stars and Motor Cars Parade, Kermit and Miss Piggy were re-designed and appeared on a float, as well as pose for pictures. However in 2006 the characters were no longer doing photo ops, but did stay in the parade until it's closure in 2008. Some have said Kermit and Miss Piggy were no longer offering photo ops because the Henson family didn't like the costumes. The Muppets have since returned though, but as puppets. First in 2010 for the VoluntEars Cavalcade and most recently for "Great Moments in American History." Sadly the Muppets still do not offer photo ops anymore.

There is a big problem when any group of people say, "we were going to try to do away with", *insert minority or some other group the opposition doesn't understand*, an entire section of the US population. Am I the only one who realizes it sets a bad precedence, literally for everyone, period? Nobody got offended by Orange Bird. People were offended by Anita's homophobic preaching and since Orange Bird was very associated with her Disney thought it would be best to abandon the character.
