Thanks for sharing this how to add metallic powder video. Does this need to be fused with a heat source other than your cloth covered finger ?

Years ago I saw this video, it wasn't a technique we did with Nancy in the workshops, but I loved it. I ordered this same flocked paper from a supplier in NY, a long way from the west coast. It is a technique I offer in my workshops. Learning about encaustic and all the basic stuff, this offers students a way to create and experience working with molten wax. Thank you Nancy for being a wonderful teacher. I strive to teach in the same way, from the heart. 💖🐝🔥

Nancy has long been an inspiration. I was fortunate to have met her and taken a couple of her workshops. Her videos I now recommend to my students as I know you can trust that Nancy tested every technique and material she used before she would recommend them to her students and followers. I too, still watch and refer to her videos on a regular basis. Absolutely the best on RU-vid. With Love and Gratitude, forever in our hearts.

Nancy used matt board for that series. She did a glue burn, then a layer or two of encaustic medium. The glue burn has created the shapes she is using to define where she is applying the pan pastels. Check out her "Love and Gratitude" series, all the designs she created, just amazing.

Finally some concise and artistic info. I've been doing gelli prints with golden fluids on rice paper. Very light use of acrylic. So wax won't work with these? I've not done encaustic for some time no but you've invigorated me a bit. Can't find your website and Facebook,,are you on Instagram ? Where do you do workshops?

Hello Nancy! I absolutely love your work- you are so incredibly talented! May I ask, when you use "tissue paper" is it a acid free or archival type of tissue paper? Or am I overthinking it? Thank you! Rebekkah

Thank you! I love your channel and work! I’m having so much fun discovering encaustic! Can you share what your substrate is? I was under the impression that I was limited to heavier boards … but as I’ve noticed in some of your videos you’re able to cut a larger piece which means your substrate had to be thin enough for cutting… Can you share?

Nancy, thank you so much for creating this brilliant series on encaustic. It has to be one of the most comprehensive, detailed and inspiring "takes" available on the net. Your unique talent shows through clearly and simply and defines the beauty and fascination I have with this medium. the "With Love And Gratitude" project is a priceless idea!

Hannah - I am new to this. What is encaustic?
@lyndalombardi6473
@lyndalombardi6473 Год назад
Encaustic is a medium that is beeswax and damar (natural pine resin), and requires heat to fuse the layer. It is worked with in a molten state and applied to a solid substrate, a birch cradle or a wood panel or as Nancy has done in the Love & Gratitude series small panels of matt board. Painting with this beeswax medium is an ancient art for with a rich history. The three elements needed to be called encaustic are beeswax, damar and heat. I encourage you to watch Nancy's Encaustic 101 video, she offers a ton of great information. Absolutely the best teacher and mentor I ever had. She is so greatly missed but her legacy lives on in these amazing videos and her students.
