www.nancycrawfo... Several people have asked me if I could create a few videos to explain some of the encaustic techniques that I used in my With Love and Gratitude Encaustic Series video - so here goes. This video shows how you can embed tissue transfers between layers of wax. Also, stay tuned for more in depth videos that will demonstrate the encaustic process from start to finish. Please visit my website www.nancycrawfordartist.com to learn more.

Nancy... Thank you so very much for showing me how to do some of the wonderful effects you use. I've recently begun working with encaustic. So many ways to go here. I've got most of the basics; made my own medium and using various coloring agents such as raw pigments from Earth Pigments, R&F pigment sticks, oil pastels (Sennilier are very good). Please do a few more videos. They are very helpful.

Hello Nancy. LOVE your work and love your videos, thank you so much for sharing your process. They are so inspiring. Did you get a chance to do any rust printing videos? I wasn't able to find them. Thanks!

Hello "Urbanmoon"! Thank you for leaving a comment and kind words. I'm glad that you are finding the videos inspiring. I haven't yet produced the rust printing video yet...but it's on my list for the New Year. Happy creating to you in 2017, and stay tuned for more videos. : )

Hi Nancy! Thank you so much for your informative videos. I am about to embark on my first piece and have one question: Is it best to begin and finish a work in one sitting or can an encaustic piece be done over more than one day? I am so inspired by your pieces and techniques. I can hardly wait to try them! Thanks so much!

Hello Cathy. Thank you for your message and questions. Encaustic works don't need to be finished in one sitting or one day. I have several pieces that I've had "underway" for weeks, months and some even years! When I am working with encaustics I usually have several works in progress at one time, as the pieces need to cool thoroughly between each fusing. I'm glad that you are inspired to try it out. It is an amazing medium! Just to let you know...I am about to launch my first online encaustic program - working from the ground up. I will have a video about it on this channel and on my blog within the next week or so if that might interest you. In the meantime, happy creating!

Nancy, do you fuse between each layer of wax you add on top of the tissue ? So many possibilities I see here :D

Hello Nolwenn. Somehow I missed a few of the comments you left on these videos...which I am just catching now. Yes, it is essential to always fuse between each layer of wax. Fusing is actually the most important aspect of working with encaustics and requires the greatest amount of practice to achieve subtle and beautiful results. Have fun with it!

What the procedure for printing images/graphis etc onto the tissue used. Is there also a brand of tissue that you recommend. I like this so much better than a using paper but do not understand the mechanics of making printed tissue.

Hello there. I am hoping to make a video about this process as it is tough to explain. The trouble is that the materials used for this technique are always changing, and it is getting trickier to find the materials that work in this world of ours where there is plastic in everything - from tissue paper to photocopy toner and more. Sadly, it may become an obsolete process. : ( If I figure out reliable sources I'll make a video to share.

Thank you Nancy. It is the most attractive piece to my eye and i would love to get some basic tissue based images from my photos to work with.

Hello Vivian! I'm glad that you are asking about the rust prints. I'm going to be creating a video that deals with a couple of different ways to do rust prints that are both easy and fun. That will be coming soon. : ) I'm also working on another series of videos that are more in depth and will show the encaustic process from start to finish. Thanks for your interest and questions.

What kind of tissue paper or does it matter.
@lyndalombardi6473
@lyndalombardi6473 2 года назад
The tissue paper can be the kind you get as gift wrap but be careful if it has a sheen it means it has a coating that will not absorb the wax. Cheep dollar store paper with no sheen works best. The other tissue paper that works well is from printed paper napkins. Separate the layers, usually 3, and use only the top, printed layer. Nancy taught us well, for those of us fortunate to have been able to take workshops with her or her students in the school where she taught. You can trust the information she offers in her videos as she has tested every technique and material before she presents it to her students.
