Hi I'm looking to buy a GT manual and there is one in mint condition close to me: 70k miles 2007 headers intake exhaust lowering springs body kit (subtle and with great fitment) He is asking $8.300. Thoughts?
I've had my '08 3.8 V6 Manual since 2017 and it's still my favorite car I've ever owned. Only thing I dislike is the torque steering around corner which I plan on adding coilovers for that.
I've got an 08 Eclipse GT and it's the best car I've ever owned. Paid 2k for it, definitely worth it. Best part is NO one realized the kind of power it puts out, so I pull on a lot of people top end and they go nuts haha.
Did you ever run it with 87 or 89 octane instead of 91 , I’m not really into power but line the v6 sound , in the manual it says it’s fine to run 87 but recommends 91 for performance … I would like to find some on that’s ran 87 or 89
sorry that im commenting on such an old vid but you wouldnt happen to remember where you got the front grill from do you? my current grill looks like crap and ive been looking for something similar to what you have
@@jordanscott6410 mine was on because of the o2 sensors. After I replaced the Cats and o2 sensors it went away. Replacing the back catalytic converter is a real pain.
@@ElectricBlueSR yeah me and my dad went and looked at one yesterday gt Manuel. The exterior was a bit rough but what turned him away was that light. 87k miles tho
@@jordanscott6410 Those motors can take a beating. It would have been worth having the codes ran 87k is very low mileage. These will become very rare 10 years from now.
I know this vid is a few years old but hows it still holding up? Looking at the exact model you have right now, might buy it this weekend. (doesn't have the mods you did to it though) just curious if its still holding up for ya and if you experienced any issues
That car with a big turbo smokes an mk4 supra, no cap, i've seen it I'm not sure if the one i saw was twin or single turbo but it had at least one, and it was AWD
@@ElectricBlueSR just took mine out. Time to change the clutch. Thanks so much for your help. Once I take out the axel. I have easy access to the second part of the cv axel that’s connected to the transmission. That part was so easy to take off after I took out the main axel. Thanks so much
Not sure. I'm guessing they didn't really want to make the eclipse so that's why it came in such limited numbers. The 6 speed option is even more rare in the GTs. My only complaint was the lack of a limited slip option for the manual transmission. To much power/trq going through one wheel.
The 3.8 isn't that heavy. The motor also makes like 255hp, 270trq stock. With headers, exhaust and intake with flash tune you can get 280-290hp/300trq easy. It's nothing crazy but it's quick for what it is.
@@ElectricBlueSR it may not sound that heavy but when you look at how the engine is mounted it dosent look good to me.It sits in front of the front wheels which is a dumb idea already. How can it handle well ? Just curious.
@@mcw280 it handles pretty decently and should have been AWD with the given power but they went the cheap route. The main negative is that it has a ton of trq with a non LSD transmission which causes a lot of trq steer. It was a fun starter car and would be a fun track car if you have the money to convert it to AWD.
@@cedricmiller4370 The 240sx is a more open platform, meaning it has more potential for different swaps motor wise, but they don't handle that well so it depends on the intended application. If you're drag/drift racing, 240sx would be the better option unless you just have massive amounts of money to dump into the eclipse. This particular eclipse has decent power but without the LSD it's pretty useless power with all the Trq steer you get when the traction control is turned off. If you want an eclipse I'd go with the later models pre 2003, the turbo versions have a 4g63 in them and some come AWD. I previously owned a Eagle Talon which is basically a 1G eclipse and it was one of the coolest cars I've ever owned. I'm actually in the process of sourcing another Talon as we speak. Lol
@@ElectricBlueSR ok thanks for responding back I get what your saying now that you explained basically the 240sx is better when it comes to drag racer build and engine swap opportunities because of the rear wheel drive setup compared to the eclipse being only fwd which limits it's potential because it's not RWD like the 240sx is I get it now. Otherwise you saying the power and torque is still present in the 3.8mivec V6 the FWD is just the downside. And oh yea I remember the eagle talon lol cool eclipse twin I haven't seen a talon on highway since 2004 they some beasts I can only imagine how much you enjoyed yours maybe you'll find another one in mint condition
@@ElectricBlueSR well shoot it's better then craming an aux cord into the little light hole below the H.U. Lol yeh....OPPS. Have you replaced the headers or engine or anything? I plan on rebuilding anything and everything and keeping my gt for a long time
Didn't have many but random plastic pieces like the door handles breaking, or the rubber dash cover curling in the heat. Overall the motor and drivetrain helped up nicely.
Love the color bro. I got an 06 gt v6 6mt. Starter just went out 2 days ago. Waiting to get a new starter. Does need new shocks, tranny mount since bushing is fried, but other than that nothing serious. It's got 201k and still climbing.
How reliable is the 5 Speed with the 4-cyl? I know it won't be as zippy, but would it still be worth getting? I am looking at a 2008 with 48k miles for $6k.
I have a 2008 eclipse 3.8 l lowered it with megan racing street coilovers. The passages half shaft keeps coming apart what shaft could i use for it not coming apart
I bought a cold air intake for bout $60, same motor, CPT intake, I’ve noticed I’ve lost some power and a little bit of hesitation while shifting, no check engine lights or anything, I’m wondering if you feel as though you lost some HP from the stock air intake to this after market one. Also I did notice a hole in the filter itself as it kinda got punctured by me when I was installing it. Would that have anything to do with it?
Just depends on where you live. If you're above the salt belt it may be a pain in the arse but if you're down south or mid west it should be a piece of cake.
I have an all white 2008 se model that has a v6 3.8 but the sad part is it’s auto But she a tough one though Only thing I’ve done to it is put a cat back exhaust and a typhoon cold air intake
