You are right I have a 2008 gt v6 bought it new Love it.. these videos are old...seems to be a guy thing to insult the car.. but everyone asks me what my car is.. Not many on the road these days... way better than the boxes and trucks people are driving..
I've got an 08 Eclipse GT and it's the best car I've ever owned. Paid 2k for it, definitely worth it. Best part is NO one realized the kind of power it puts out, so I pull on a lot of people top end and they go nuts haha.
Did you ever run it with 87 or 89 octane instead of 91 , I’m not really into power but line the v6 sound , in the manual it says it’s fine to run 87 but recommends 91 for performance … I would like to find some on that’s ran 87 or 89
I've had my '08 3.8 V6 Manual since 2017 and it's still my favorite car I've ever owned. Only thing I dislike is the torque steering around corner which I plan on adding coilovers for that.
Love the color bro. I got an 06 gt v6 6mt. Starter just went out 2 days ago. Waiting to get a new starter. Does need new shocks, tranny mount since bushing is fried, but other than that nothing serious. It's got 201k and still climbing.
My first car was a 2009 Eclipse GS i bought after Navy Deployment! I loved it, although they called it a fat chicks sports car. It only got traded in 2012 when the ac unit went out.
I have an all white 2008 se model that has a v6 3.8 but the sad part is it’s auto But she a tough one though Only thing I’ve done to it is put a cat back exhaust and a typhoon cold air intake
Getting a 2006 gs (not gt, unfortunately) that runs great for $1200. Catch is it just had the front bumper and left side fender damaged as well as the left headlight. Other than that, it's completely fine. Gonna fix it up and maybe sell it for more 😆 Wish me luck
you can get the hackish tune it will remove speed limiter, increase fuel efficiency, raise rpm limiter and horsepower, as well to get the most out of your mods. Its on sale now just email , you will have to buy a device to hook up to ur ecu which i bought online, as well as a windows laptop. I've had it for a few months and its been reliable, hes done it to hundreds of our cars already, our cars run really rich on our recommenced fuel so thats where he manages to pull the extra horses.
i have a 2006 honda accord v6 right now, and i'm considering swapping to this as I made the mistake of buying an automatic (before I was into cars) and there's a 3.8 6 speed near me
That car with a big turbo smokes an mk4 supra, no cap, i've seen it I'm not sure if the one i saw was twin or single turbo but it had at least one, and it was AWD
Hi I'm looking to buy a GT manual and there is one in mint condition close to me: 70k miles 2007 headers intake exhaust lowering springs body kit (subtle and with great fitment) He is asking $8.300. Thoughts?
1.) I found an 06 GT 155k miles on it. Black with paint fading pretty bad in a couple of spots listed at $3,200 never wrecked. 2.) 06 GT 91k miles rebuilt title hit in front already rebuilt, supposedly no motor damage, just cosmetic hood and bumber. Blue, no visible paint fading, from the pics anyway. Listed at $3,900. 3.) 2007 scion TC with 143k miles on it $3,995 and clean title. Way less power and possibly fun, haven't driven one yet. Toyota reliability and like 31 mpg. Would the rebuilt title GT be the best bet? Maybe get a carfax on it first and look it over really good? I feel like the 155k miles on the black one really hurts it, I mean it's not a Toyota where it would mean almost nothing at that mileage lol. Thoughts?
Miadous If you're not going to re sell it go with the rebuilt GT as long as it has no structural damage. Sorry for late response just saw this comment. 👍
Picked up a 07 eclipse gt 6 speed yesterday. 128k miles on it. Is there a way to know the condition of a timing belt? I'm sort of paranoid about those going bad on an eclipse because I read it'll ruin the engine before you even know it happened? Or something like that. Also, there is rattling noise you can easily hear in the car or under the hood when idling. Push in the clutch and it completely goes silent. Shifts perfect, pulls hard, never wrecked. Drove great overall on the 2.5 hour trip coming home.
Miadous To look at the timing belt you just need to remove the top plastic cover its a few 10mm bolts located right above the serpentine belt. These motors tend to make noise at idle because of the mivech feature which is basically an aggressive version of vtech. It only engages when at a certain RPM so at idle its not being used and can make a valve ticking type noise. If you're hearing a noise before you put in the clutch then it goes away that's usually a indication that the throw out bearing is going bad (deals with the clutch). These are very reliable cars so I wouldn't worry to much about the timing belt. If you have anymore questions just let me know sorry it took so long to reply I sometimes don't get the notifications from this channel.
I know this vid is a few years old but hows it still holding up? Looking at the exact model you have right now, might buy it this weekend. (doesn't have the mods you did to it though) just curious if its still holding up for ya and if you experienced any issues
I had a 1998 Olds Cutlass Supreme 3.1L. I slapped a supercharger on it and some nitrous. Raced for pinks and stole some cars. Miata, cavalier, corvette, but lost it to an eclipse gt. Miss my Olds and that sweet sweet 3.1L sound.
Hey dude. I have a 2009 eclipse gt. It has only 35k mileage. It is fantastic no problem at all. I do have only one and it is beyond annoying, dashboard creaky plastic when I hit a bumpy road or when I turn left or right, the plastic creaks like, maybe it is because the vinyl leather lifted up from the dash. Please if u have any solution or if u know about this problem, any suggestion?
eclipse noir I have the same exact squeak problem in my eclipse and I found it wasn’t coming from my dash which I had thought but it was from under my wheels the exact shrapnel rain guard stuff can come loose with the pop on screws so maybe check that
sorry that im commenting on such an old vid but you wouldnt happen to remember where you got the front grill from do you? my current grill looks like crap and ive been looking for something similar to what you have
How reliable is the 5 Speed with the 4-cyl? I know it won't be as zippy, but would it still be worth getting? I am looking at a 2008 with 48k miles for $6k.
I haven't personally done it because my motor has over 200k. I will replace my motor if it goes. I would suggest having it done if it hasn't been done. It's a 4hr job on the ground so at a shop its not bad at all so call around and get the best deal. There are a few 4g eclipse Facebook groups that have a few mechanics maybe one is local and can change it for you. 👍
My eclipse is nice but the gas mileage is ridiculously bad. There is currently an exhaust leak maybe that could be a factor but I can barely go a week on a full tank
Not sure. I'm guessing they didn't really want to make the eclipse so that's why it came in such limited numbers. The 6 speed option is even more rare in the GTs. My only complaint was the lack of a limited slip option for the manual transmission. To much power/trq going through one wheel.
Greetings form Puerto Rico. Im thinking about get one of thouse but theres 2 things I need to know before. 1. How reliable are in engine and transmissions? 2. How good fuel efficient is?
The engine and transmission are very reliable. I'm at 190k without changing timing belt and water pump and it still runs flawlessly. As far as it being fuel efficient... It's ok just depends if you have boltons and a tune. If you keep it stock it's actually pretty good high 20's+ the trq allows you to shift smoothly and right at 2k RPMS which allows for really good gas mileage for a big v6. Hope this helps bro! Check out the 4g eclipse Facebook group page. A ton of helpful people on that group who know these cars a lot better then I do.
All Things Random Thanks man. I fall in love with the car aerodynamics and I was wondering about engine and transmission reliability. The fuel efficiency 20 mpg its ok for me. I live in Puerto Rico and work like 8 minutes from my job. Thanks for the information. I can get a 4th gen Eclipse here in PR in around 4,000 to 7,000 depending on the year. I will get one.
I have a 2006 eclipse gt 3.8 my engine blew out at 92k miles i put more money on it than what its worth so i need to buy a new engine its a fun car tho belive me
+Titi jdm I'm not sure TBH, mine was specifically for the six speed trans. I'm sure it could easily be modified if the engine bay is the same setup it's was less then 80$.
stylep909 Yes, mine has always been this loud since day 1. I run Full synthetic 5w 20. You can use a oil like rotella to help with that or a thicker weight like 10w 30-40. Usually any car with some sort of variable valve timing tends to make a lot more noise.
Devon Perdue i thought theres something wrong and ive tried adding oil stabilizer and noise hasn't changed. now i know its normal. shop was trying to charge me 1200 to change lifters. thanks for the info man.
stylep909 No problem bro. Their trying to make a buck for sure. If it sound like marbles grinding then for sure have it seriously looked at but if it sound like mine does you're all good 👍 Link me a video if you think it sounds odd and ill take a listen.
Bought one(2006) that's v6, manual for 1700$, worked fine first 2 days but now wont start. Do you know of common issues why the car wouldn't start? (Fuel pump, any security anti theft feature, etc)
@@LGPantherz took it to the dealership, told me it was the crankshaft position sensor as well as the need to reprogram the keys, (just leaving this in case anyone else has similar problems)
*Update* car works great no issues, so far, tinted the windows, tinted tailights and bought it black headlights. Next up is some coil overs and blacking it out(won’t look like a “girl car” in any sense)
Didn't have many but random plastic pieces like the door handles breaking, or the rubber dash cover curling in the heat. Overall the motor and drivetrain helped up nicely.
@@ElectricBlueSR well shoot it's better then craming an aux cord into the little light hole below the H.U. Lol yeh....OPPS. Have you replaced the headers or engine or anything? I plan on rebuilding anything and everything and keeping my gt for a long time
@@ElectricBlueSR 265 hp would be only around 220 to 230ish atbthe crank whp. Intake header exhaust with a tune is still not going to net 50 to 60 hp. Lmao.
+Ed low It can hang with 350zs, s2ks ect it surprises a lot of people because most don't realize this is a 3.8l. With my setup it compares to a newer 350z HR or a stock 370z. Its quick but nothing serious.
@@jordanscott6410 mine was on because of the o2 sensors. After I replaced the Cats and o2 sensors it went away. Replacing the back catalytic converter is a real pain.
@@ElectricBlueSR yeah me and my dad went and looked at one yesterday gt Manuel. The exterior was a bit rough but what turned him away was that light. 87k miles tho
@@jordanscott6410 Those motors can take a beating. It would have been worth having the codes ran 87k is very low mileage. These will become very rare 10 years from now.
The 3.8 isn't that heavy. The motor also makes like 255hp, 270trq stock. With headers, exhaust and intake with flash tune you can get 280-290hp/300trq easy. It's nothing crazy but it's quick for what it is.
@@ElectricBlueSR it may not sound that heavy but when you look at how the engine is mounted it dosent look good to me.It sits in front of the front wheels which is a dumb idea already. How can it handle well ? Just curious.
@@mcw280 it handles pretty decently and should have been AWD with the given power but they went the cheap route. The main negative is that it has a ton of trq with a non LSD transmission which causes a lot of trq steer. It was a fun starter car and would be a fun track car if you have the money to convert it to AWD.
That's actually not a lot. My car has upgrade 4 to 1 headers, deleted cats, cold air and a tune...so yeah it's right around 280 to the wheels. Plenty of similar setups making the same power.
