Learn piano faster than you thought possible! And the best part? You get to learn all the songs you love! So if you're ready to enhance your piano skills, go watch a PIANOLY RU-vid video and start jamming! 🎹
I think I need a normal weighted paino keys with longer keys cuz mine are as big as a 10 yr old finger I'll try another time Kayla I'll put this to watch later
I learned piano when I was student, and teacher focused on all the classical pieces and I just followed to play on the notes, many many years later after I stopped playing, I have no idea what I was playing and what chords are all about and I lost almost all past knowledge of piano. After seeing these videos, I understand the Great way to start learning chord first so that you can make your own music later on with ease and keep the hobby going.
Awesome video. I am learning to play the piano for rhe first time. I just ordered my Donner DDP 300 and would like to subscrive to you channel to get started. Thank you,.
I never really practiced once I switched to chord based playing rather than formal classical. I couldn’t stop finding stuff to play around with. Piano should always be fun…..
Saturday morning at the piano-reminiscing of 1973 when I would ride my bike about 3/4 mile to my piano teacher’s house for a weekly lesson. Taking notes of your 5 warm-ups. #4 (Reaching Really Hight) is my favorite, and Flowing River will be my new challenge to master.
I was paying for pianote until they banned me for criticizing their lessons in comments; their attitude is basically like; "worship how good out teacher is in the comment section, that is all it is for... if you say something about how the video would be better by making a change = BANNED"
Thanks for pointing out the necessity of correct finger placement for scales, honestly I was getting a bit lazy but you’ve motivated me to play correctly!
My issue is staying awake long enough to practice. I’m 2 years in and already tackling Chopin Etudes with my instructor. Balancing work, marriage, fitness and a baby is my struggle.
An interesting video Kaitlyn. Having attained some skill and musical knowledge on guitar as a youth, I took up the piano/keyboards around my mid-twenties. At first, I didn’t succeed. I probably should have given up there and then. I’d have saved an awful lot of time and money. That was well over 40 years ago. I subsequently put in thousands of hours and found I could eventually play quite a lot, in a certain slapdash sort of way, but never have I, even once, felt at home on the instrument. The spatial and physical properties of keyboards seem to appeal only to certain personality types; one I don’t possess. Rick Wakeman once said something along the lines of, ‘if you don’t start piano in a serious way, before childhood is out, you’ll never fully develop the required musculature to cope with the instrument’s demands’. I have to agree. Certainly in my case, it’s true. My very best wishes to all the late learners out there.
Just as with guitar, there is a difference between learning some basic major and minor chords to accompany yourself singing and playing simple songs. As opposed to being able to sight read music, play complex compositions, play jazz or classical music. The former is not that hard, the latter will take years.
Lack of progress is the big killer. And scales. Why do people play scales? What does it do other than ingrain the sharps and flats? Your progress on the Chopin piece is because you are an exceptional player, an outlier. Most people cannot progress like that.
Hello.... I just got the DEP 20 a few months ago and I think it gives you the most for your money, the keys are weighted on the heavier side which i think is better, I'm planning on upgrading to a better one in the future, may be a Roland FP 30x but for now I think it's a good piano, greeting from Nogales Sonora México......
I ordered the book you recommended. Now I have to convince my fingers to work the keys. I can touch type about 80 words a minute without looking at the keyboard, so I am confident that I might eventually be able to not embarrass myself too much playing the scales.
I just bought myself a keyboard after wanting to play since I was a teenager. Im 26 and never really done anything that involves coordination, I fear I am unteachable. I can’t even get my finger placement correct and keep crossing fingers and lifting my fingers to hit the right notes. Also really struggling with incorporating the left hand as it feels really unnatural to play something totally different with the left hand. Anyone have any tips or is the keyboard/piano just not for me 😭
Have you tried jazz? In this vein, I once had a classical guitar student in my theory class. She knew that I taught jazz, and she. came to my office and said "I think I want to switch to jazz. I heard it's easier." BWAHAHAHAHA!!
I'm a new piano student, and since I'm retired, I have no excuses for not touching the keyboard every day. When I was learning to play golf, the best investment was not in clubs or club membership, but lessons. I can buy the best equipment, join exclusive clubs, but I can't buy game. I'm paying for weekly piano lessons now, as well as the annual fee for Piano Marvel to fill in the blanks during the week. Between the two sources, I can see improvement every week. Equally important is the excellent online instruction from Kaitlyn, and others. The generous free training and guidance are wonderful!
What motivates me most is knowing, what separates me from people who can NOT play piano, is just ENDURANCE. Every 12-year-old wunderkind is just so good because he/she invested much more time than me (yet 😁)
Kaitlyn, how long is the free training? Is it something I could come back to and pick up where I left off if I don't have time to watch it all at once?
As an adult beginner who's listened to SOOO many songs over the decades, not being to replicate songs as quickly as I enjoy listening made me lose tons of motivation. What's helped me is taking the approach a young child would take as a student. Patterns more so than music.
You left out the worst of the bunch. One I've come to hate because so over used by most piano teachers and overplayed by others...Let It Be. I refuse to play/sing that one or comp anyone on that song even upon request : )
Hi Kaitlyn, these are great points and excellent advice! My motivation is I want to learn how to play a song effortlessly and smoothly, such as Piano Man and one that I love is Passacaglia.
👋 Thanks for watching! Be sure to watch my free training, where I show you exactly what to learn on the piano so that you can play your favorite songs fast! www.try.piano.ly/free-training
Thanks for the early morning motivation! I like & will try the 90 day goal for the piece I'm working on, "Easy winner". Hoping it will take me less time than that, even though 90 days seems just around the corner LOL Also, love that white piano in the back! Someday I hope I can get one similar. Thanks again 👍🏽
You're welcome! Good luck with 'Easy Winner'-I'm sure you'll do great! 🎶 Glad you like the white piano. Hope you get yours someday! Thanks for your support!
Life can sometimes throw unexpected challenges our way, but I'm glad to be back and share more about staying motivated with the piano. Let's keep encouraging each other on this journey!
Update: she replaced the Casio Previa with New Chinese Donner digital pianos complaining that Casio doesn't hold up well with students and they're not that Durable 😮
