All well and good but for my money i find todays game boring. Yes they are better shooters but the defensive felexibility you talk about is a joke as all the 0layers 1-5 are looking for 3's so the d is essentially the same. Todays guards could never have guarded wilt Kareem , Akeem or Shaq. They wouldve been crushed. The imprtance of rebounding and crashing yhe boards was never addressed either. Something that added immensly to the game of the 80s and 90s. Ir barely exists. And lastly palmingand traveling is so ridiculous now you cant consider the games to be the same.

New? This is as old as the dribble. This is what guard play used to look like before the NBA implemented the 5 second back down/back to the basket rule and then legislated out contact. When perimeter defenders were allowed to actually defend and challenge offensive players for space on the floor, being able to function and see the floor out of a back down dribble was mandatory.
