I love to read and have been a reader ever since I was a little child. I always have a book on the go and if I don't something is wrong!
I read primarily Christian Fiction but do dip my toes into classics and clean fiction at times.
Thanks to the support and encouragement of my bff this channel was created. All book reviews I share will also be posted on my blog C Jane Read (link below).
You are doing great on your goals! I have participated in your reading challenge and have really enjoyed it. I didn't switch any of the prompts out for bonus prompts. Even though I am not much of a re-reader, I used that prompt as the impetus to re-read. I will participate again next year if you host the challenge. I don't have any suggestions, I just look forward to what you will come up with 😍.
I just discovered your channel and reading challenge in September, so I would love to participate next year! I like that your prompts aren’t too specific so there are always lots of books to choose from for each one.
Wow I’m super impressed. Congratulations! Honestly, I could never. One, cuz I simply read books too slowly and two, I would be stressed trying to meet all the goals it’d take the fun out of reading. But it’s fun watching you crush your goals!
Way to go, Janette! I think you’ll like the Christmas Quilt because it was heart-touching. I guess I’m not alone with my rereads goal. 😆 I won’t be meeting that one. I think you can get them all met. I love making goals for reading. It makes it fun and I learn so much about my reading. I’m already thinking about next year, but really just dreaming at this point.
I only did the prompts for September and October. I already had some books that I was dying to read that fit those prompts. Next year, I will be co-hosting an adult reading group at my Church. I will have to discuss books that our library carries so I will be a bit limited already with what I will be able to read. However, if I can make a book fit the monthly prompt, I would be happy to participate. I already have a 2025 reading list with 4 new to me authors lined up.
Hey! I commented on sprints the other night that I do love your bonus prompts. I would love to participate in another challenge from you for next year.
You have some great reading ahead of you! I loved My Phony Valentine, but I DNF"d My Lucky Charm. I keep thinking I should give it another try because lots of people have loved it. The MC just annoyed me. I have liked books I read by Toni Shiloh, but I wasn't overly excited about In Search of a Prince. So much so that I haven't read to Win a Prince yet and don't know if I will. I can't wait to read Robert Whitlow's new book and the Irene Hannon series!
What a fantastic haul!!! And, nooooooo, do not unhaul...just rearrange your shelves...or better still, add a new bookcase so you can buy even more books. 🙂I love Irene Hannon's Undaunted Courage seres...Oh, and I read my first Robert Whitlow book thanks to you and I'll definitely be reading more, so thanks.
I love your idea of adding a bookcase, but I did just do that in March. I have already rearranged the shelves a bit and have ideas of what else to move around when I need more room.
1. Counterfeit Kingdom, because it changed my view on some issues. 2. Counterfeit Kingdom, for the same reason. 3. The original 4 books in the When Calls The Heart series, but Elizabeth Camden’s Hope and Glory series will most likely become my favorite once I read the last book. 4. Julie Klassen. 5. Christian Non- Fiction 6. Still Adelaide Cowherd from The Librarian of Boone’s Hollow. 7. 1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice. 8. I will have to take a rain check on the quote. It will take a while to come up with an answer. 9.Into The Whirlwind by Elizabeth Camden. 10. Family Mystery 11. Emmett and Adelaide from The Librarian of Boone's Hollow.
I think that you would enjoy The Librarian of Boone’s Hollow and Return to Boone’s Hollow as they cover the Great Depression into when America entered WW2. Both books are filled with faith. As for Julie Klassen, I don’t know if you would enjoy her, but maybe a book like The Dancing Master might be a fit for you.
Quite the haul video! I've not read any books from any of the authors mentioned. I've made quite a list of books to look into and see if my library has a copy. I've promised myself not to bring any more physical books into the house since I've been mainly reading ebooks and listening to audio books lately. Thanks for all the great suggestions, and I'm looking forward to your next video.
I just added We Three Kings to my list of Christmas books for this year! May I give a "don't prioritize" recommendation? I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I didn't like Toni Shiloh's In Search of a Prince. There wasn't much in the way of character growth for any of the main characters, and the relationship felt awkward and rushed to me. I also had some issues with the content (e.g. sexual sin being glossed over like it was no big deal). I'm going to give the author a second try because that was my first book by her, but it didn't leave a great impression.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Apparently I wasn't even sure what book I owned, that's how interested I am in it 😉 I'll get to it someday, and now I'll know to be cautious.
By chance you weren’t in Lancaster County were you? The Christian bookshop I go to here has sales just like that, shelves with 50% off paperbacks and 75% off hard covers. I love it. Great haul!
I love Lynn Austin and can't wait to read All My Secrets. What a find. I also love The Blue Cloak. I've read all the books in that series and enjoyed them. It's amazing that they are all based on true American crimes.
lol I’m trying to participate in way too many reading challenges this month. Katies, Annetober by chautona, the middle earth one by Reese, and victober.
You definitely ended up with a nice mix of genres! Loyally, Luke is finally on its way to me from my library, so I plan to read that soon. I will continue either the On Central Park series by Jocelyn Green or the Ryland & St. Clair series by Nancy Mehl. Or maybe both!
