Books are my life! Fantasy Horror Thriller Crime all things fiction with a sprinkle of Classics. Oh … and I love me some gluten free chocolate rice cakes and a hot tea whilst reading! Also big believer in Karma, put out in the world what you want to get back! 😉
My Beautiful Bestie! I’m sending all the love and hugs from across the pond! You really touched my heart here because I watch my husband deal with fibro everyday and I know how debilitating it can be. You are such a warrior. And as someone who has to film and edit himself, I understand what a Herculean task it is, which is why I had to scale back my output from weekly to “whenever I have the time.” So, post whenever you can. Don’t let is stress you out, because like my girl Alicia said, “We aren’t going anywhere!” Love you so much bestie. Congrats to the girls! They are both awesome. Also LOVE that jumper!
@@KindlesandKicks I think you would get a kick out of this book bestie and the jumper is the shiz!! I had to have it! Representing!!!! And thank you, you always say the best things to me ❤️ and encourage me to just be myself. (The song from just friends is in my head now if you’ve seen it… “be yourself be yourself”Ryan Reynolds) 🤣 I will take your advice hun, Alicia’s and Pats you all have shown me true friendship. And final note for the hubby… fibros a bitch!!! But it doesn’t own us, love you guys 🥰
Great review Dee. Sorry to hear you’ve not been feeling the best and it’s understandable that other things come before the channel. I’m subscribed so I’ll catch your vids whenever you bring them out, once a week, once a month, I’ll still be sure to watch 👍 Ps All the best to Jos in her new job and Congratulations to your Phoebe on graduating 🎉🙌
Great breakdown. I haven't read anything from him but he seems quite dynamic, this sounds like it'll be a fun starting place! Sounds like your girls are doing great. Definitely take care of yourself first, and we'll be here whenever you can post!
@@birdieandthebooksalicia94 I won’t Alicia, an that’s the right attitude it’s a hobby I need to see it as such and not give myself a hard time feeling I’m letting people down 💖
@@throughthepages_with_dee it's very easy to do and to stress yourself out cuz I did it last year when I started my channel. So it's very easy to fall into that so I'm trying to consciously not do that ❤️
Hi Dee. Great review! Thanks for the explanation and update on your life. I can totally see you celebrating the graduation properly! You show them all, Dee! I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling your best. I hope you feel better soon. Sending love…
They are going to make a show from the books,I think. I have the first one but have to admit I have not read it yet. Tfs and hope you had a nice holiday.
@@throughthepages_with_dee I am reading a The Antique Hunter's Guide to Murder by C L Miller and enjoying that - that is a lighthearted murder mystery too .
Glad to see you back from vacation bestie! Book isn’t the same with your presence. I had no idea hardbacks were released before paperbacks. It’s all about the Benjamins, hardbacks generate more revenue. Tell my niece congrats on her new job, her presence will be missed on the channel, but I’m proud of her!
@@KindlesandKicks will do bestie she is really happy and thank you, so happy to see you too I think we both needed it haha. It’s annoying to me as a paperback person that i sometimes have to wait another year for a new release but as you say money makes the world go round. Hope you and hubby are good and I’ll tell Jos later today, thank you 🙏🏼 bestie.
I’ve loved The Thursday Murder Club! Such a fun and charming series. Best of luck to Jos on her new job and to you as you figure out where you’d like to take the channel!
I agree with you with everything needing to be in paperback first. I feel like in the UK you get it faster in paperback than we do for some reason I'm not sure why.
@@birdieandthebooksalicia94 Right?! It just doesn’t make sense to me to buy the nice edition first if you end up not enjoying the book?? At least you can pass on a paperback to someone else and not feel too bad about the cost, but some hardbacks can come in at £22 and I’m not paying that if I don’t enjoy it 😂
@@throughthepages_with_dee exactly that's why I'm not buying books by new authors and hardcover cuz in the US dollar it's literally like 35 to 40 dollars for a brand new hardcover now
These were great answers bestie! You've made Kings of the Wyld shoot up my list. I've been tagged by Brian and you, so now I definitely have to do it. I will find time this weekend, because I'm curious how I'd answer the questions.
Great responses. Funnily enough, the second time in less than 10 hours I watched a video only to find myself tagged on it, lol. Here's my answers! 1. What is your strategy to stay focused and engaged while reading? Read stuff I'm interested in, lol. Once I'm interested, that's natural. If I'm not, then I need to wait for when I can focus. 2. How does your environment influence your focus and what can you do to optimize it? I'm a full-time caregiver, so I typically have to make sure my wife's taken care of and comfortable before I get around to reading. 3. What methods do you use to retain and recall information from what you've read? I've been writing out my thoughts on books for well over a decade, used to dump then on a blog, then in a Google Drive, and now I'm just posting on my channel. 4. How do you approach difficult or challenging material? By only reading it when I have the time to focus without distraction/interruption. 5. What role do note-taking and annotation play in your reading process? I'll put together some notes after I'm done reading a book, but I don't bother with that while reading - I just enjoy reading the book. 6. How do you balance reading for pleasure with reading for personal or professional development? I use work hours for personal/professional development, as it's the company I'm working for that's going to benefit from whatever skills I acquire that way after all. 7. What is the importance of setting reading goals? None whatsoever, I read whatever I want, as much as I want/can, and wherever that takes me. 8. What are some strategies for overcoming reading slumps or lack of motivation? Switch up genres for slumps, and if I'm unmotivated I just don't read. It's first and foremost a hobby for me, I refuse to let anything make it otherwise.
YES!! You pronounced Sazed like I do. Apparently it’s incorrect, but since there’s no pronunciation guide given, I’m going to continue pretending it’s correct. Sorry. Just a random tiny thing. 😅 Alright, as to the whole video: The over-explanation of the magic system is one of the most common critiques of this book. I wholeheartedly agree with you on the characters. I’m glad you enjoyed this. Book 2 is a bit slower, but that’s due to the nature of the story, not because he’s writing it poorly. -T
Haha no worries I think you’ll like Starks books John , it was a great interview I’m hoping I’ll be able to grab mr sledge vs next once I’ve read his book 🤞
Great reviews Dee! Once and Future Witches sounds pretty good. Speaks the Nightbird is definitely on my list to read. His book Boys Life was one of my favorites.
Great review and comparison Dee! I love both the book and the movies, but you’re right about the book being better with lots of unique elements. I love Blade Runner 2049 as well.
Thanks Chas haven’t seen blade runner 2049 so I can’t say it’s good or not but the book was definitely better than the 80s film I’m happy you think so too.
@@Talking_Story loved it! Such an interesting way of doing a murder mystery but still I got Agatha Christie feels from it in a neo Dickensian world, superb!
