Hi, my name is Anne! Being a person of a very practical nature, this channel is part of my effort to take the time to find beauty, inspiration, and wonder wherever I can, but especially in music, books, beautiful places, beautiful people, and deep thoughts. In other words, I love to read, listen to music, make music, travel and explore. Oh, and I love coffee. On this channel, you'll find videos focusing on any or all of those topics. Welcome to my "wonder"-full life! (P.S. In my professional life, I teach the next generation about the wonder of music. Those kinds of things are floating around here, too.)
Creating up on 600 subscribers Anne. What I like about Jane Austen is her sentences when she is making a joke. The sentence starts of straight and then flips half through with the punch often landing on the last word, boom. She is the master of it. Best wishes.
I like hearing about your progress this year as I've only recently gotten involved in the book tube world 😅. Your comment about "truly wanting to read the book" is making me think... I don't read quickly or very much so I should be extra choosy😅. I like your journal 📓📑!!
I totally forgot to include The Letter Tree in my Disappointments in my checkin video. I guess it just didn't come to mind because I was only thinking of bad books lol
Wow, Les Miserables - good luck with that one - it's a chunker of a book. I read Paradise Lost a couple years back with Michael Romeo Talks Books and MJ at Reading This Life, I think that was my first buddy read here on Booktube. Happy post 4th of July and enjoy your vacation :)
Lovely flowers in the background, Anne. Yes, reading with intention. I've been trying to implement this for myself the last several years. I've made progress, but I still have a ways to go. Hope your holiday is happy and blessed!
My goal was to slow down and read more classics and I definitely feel like I’m meeting that goal. And I feel like it’s changing the kind of reader I am. I’m tasting good literature and so I’m finding myself dnf’ing a lot of modern reads because it’s lacking the depth. It’s very interesting, but I like it! ☺️
That is so true! The more classics I read, the more I want to read them. And the more brain candy I read, the more brain candy I want to read. 😆 The same thing happens to me with food, too. 😆
Ha! Dead trees all over our neighborhood. They're all on common property so the HOA is responsible for clearing them. They did mark one of them (probably the one you saw in the video), so hopefully will be taking it down at some point this summer.
@@insearchofwonder oh an HOA that will actually do something good. 😂 Anyways the deck is a great spot for your videos... Very calming... My 2 cents anyways.
It was great to hear your update. I have really been enjoying my reading this year. I can relate to what you said at the end about reading what you want to be reading. I made a list of 40 books I want to read before I turn 40 next year. It’s mainly to encourage me to get to books that I have been putting off because I tend to grab whatever sounds good at the time but don’t make as much progress on the books I really want to read. Happy summer reading!
I love the idea of 40 before 40. It's too late for me, but maybe I should do 50 before 50? I should do it now because then it will give me more than 5 years to get to it... great idea!
I tend to be a quick reader, so one of my goals this year is to savor my reading. I choose my favorite(s) of the month and then scrapbook in my reading journal. This has given me more time to linger on the story and enjoy it again. Also, I did not set a numeric goal this year and I am loving that. My favorites so far this year have mostly been classics with the exception of Born of Gilded Mountains.
Oh I like that - to savor your reading. And I like your idea of scrapbooking it. I didn't always set number goals, but I like it currently. That is subject to change. 😆 Yes, the classics always sit deepest and move the most.
