For both the scanimated and filmed version, the recording sounds exactly the same. Believe it or not after listening to them, they reused the same recording for both of them. In the taped version, you are hearing the original unaltered high quality recording of the fanfare used back in 1976 for the film reels.
I think on some Magnetic Video VHS tapes, they pronounce it as VI-ACOM By the way, current prints of this show (like as of last week) do not have this logo 😂. They show Hatos-Hall then cut to Fremantle 😂
Mark Elliott's voiceovers for Disney were and always will be iconic. They wouldn't have been the same without him. A huge thank you to him and God rest.
The artist who designed this is a certified genuis, and I'll tell you why. I'm a network engineer, programmer and technology enthusiast who dabbles in audio-visual, radio and pretty much anything that uses electricity. While this was my favorite intro bumper of the 90s, the knowledge I've gained lets me appreciate it even more. The beginning of the intro shows pulses of light passing through film toward a screen. This is, before the advent of digital projection, the way movies were displayed at theaters around the world. The beams of light are then transmitted to the RGB electron guns of a CRT television, which blast the phospher, line by line, dot by dot, in order to display the image - the HBO Movie title - in all its glory on your TV screen. Of course, they skipped the step of converting the light from the film into electrical impulses, which would then be transmitted by satellite to your local cable operator, before being encoded and sent into your home, but for a 21 second intro, that step wouldn't be feasible. 😂 Either way, it's truly brilliant.

Every time I hear this song I think of this commercial. I remember the first time watching this on TV I was busting up laughing. I just showed this to my wife right now cuz the song was on the radio and she was dying laughing

I have some questions about the music: Who composed the music? When composing this track, what did the composer call it? Is there an extended version of this track?
You and me both. I don't have any clue which music library it's from. An extended cut appeared in a 1981 Image West demo reel detailing the campaign they created for Dutch TV channel Veronica
