Tom Meros takes us on a journey through the rock n' roll universe, as he travels in orbits with the people who participated in the universe's creation.
RIP Gary DeCarlo. No telling how many times I've watched this video. Thank you to Paul Leka, Gary DeCarlo and Dale Frashuer, for one huge, monumental song that'll be here indefinitely!!! Randy A Carlisle // Oldies DJ
He SHOULD’VE SAID ,“3 out of 6 MIRACLES”…but, to his credit, He remembered MARV TARPLIN. (Marv was inducted with the REST of the Original Miracles into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012).
From Wisconsin, I, my cousin and a friend were there for sailboat races. After practicing that day, we talked to a local guy about what was happening that nt. He mentioned a few things and then said, " ... and the Beatles are at the stadium . . " My cousin who was crazy about the Beatles went into shock, his jaw hit the ground saying, "WHAT ?!?" So we got there, were able to buy the expensive, but doable $3 seats up top. Headed down with the stampede, got about 10 ft from the stage when the group went into their trailer. And then ended up near the front. I believe they were singing DAY TRIPPER, and then during the riot switched to, "HELP!" Awesome time.
Saw Dickey at Euclid Beach Park July 13th, 1964. He was there with The Four Seasons. The opening act was Cleveland's own group The Motions, "Big Chief", "Beatle Drums", "Land Beyond The Moon". The Four Seasons were great! They performed "Ragdoll", "Walk Like A Man", "Sherry" etc. Dickey performed his hit "Patches" and at the end of the song he sang, "Patches, I'm coming to you..."Blub..Blub" 🏊♀ Ha! I'll never forget that! That was a great show in the summer of 1964 and the entrance price was $1.50!!!! 😯
I saw them many years ago at an everton away match jumping in a van I think John mentally got married in St Anne's Overbury Street my parish at the time
There is actually more twists to the story: a Baltimore DJ, named Buddy Dean, "WJZ-tv"who Cortney Collins character is based on the musical, "hairspray" accidently played the B side of the Ballard single and found he liked the twist better then the A side and recomended it to Dick Clark at the bandstand who loved the song but supposedly didnt want Ballard associated with bandstand because he considered him too adult for the audience, so he had the Cameo Parkway studio musicians in Phili, Pa re-record and found an unknown to sing that sounded like Hank Ballard , "Ernest Evans" and even nicknamed him at the suggestion of Evans wife, the unknown singer was Chubby Checker.
This made me cry. It was such a wonderful time, our youth. I met Peter and Gordon when I was 12. I got Gordon's autograph first, and he looked down and said, "What a pretty little girl. I liked the pretty, but not the little girl. Then I ran to Peter and got his autograph and asked him how Jane and Claire were doing. I've never forgotten. I saw them the 4 times they came to my town. What a wonderful time we have lived in. I will always love them. I am sad that Gordon died.😢😢😢
