Live 3 Comments Thanks for that Tom. The Beatles played Crewe's Majestic Ballroom twice, first time was on the 13th of August 1962 (with Pete Best who was sacked two days later) and the second time (with Johnny Hutchinson on drums, Ringo was there but didn't play) was a week later on 20 August 1962. Must have been part of the same "World tour" eh!
We saw, emphasis on the word saw, The Beatles at Dodger Stadium on Sunday, August 28, 1966. ‘Tis a magical musical memory, still turning in the windmills of my mind.
In August 2001 I was in Spain for a few weeks, and due to meet up with my then girlfriend in Ireland at some certain day. I caught a flight out of Madrid to Liverpool so I could finally experience the city on my meandering journey to Ireland. With no internet connected mobile phone like we have today, I was totally in the dark that the day I flew to Liverpool so I could soak up the experience was obliterated by the yearly Beatles-fest; almost everything was totally full. I found one hotel available for a single night and had to get out of town, there was nowhere to go. Someone suggested Chester, and there were a few places that weren't totally booked, so that's where I went. Wonderful town, I recommend it to anyone who goes to Liverpool, absolutely visit Chester. As for Liverpool, I remember almost nothing- I walked by the Cavern on Mathew St, but as I know it was rebuilt in a different spot after they built a car park over the original location, it was without much meaning to me.
