I was going to reference with time stamps but I was driving … Thank you for your video as I agree with most of it but specifically … 1. The lack of TUTORIALS! 2. The PRICE OF THE BINDER! I feel like the two little girls felt about the “9 quid for ****** ice cream!” 200 + quid for a piece of leather and a shiny piece of brass with hoops? This is why BuJo works and this needs more clarity. Your comments needed to be said … 👍
@@the_stationery_writer - I am testing the PLOTTER approach, but not using their binder. I found a 13 mm ring leather A5 binder on Etsy for a 1/4 the price and going that route; the paper kits are ok priced from PLOTTER but the lifters and else begin pushing it. A full compliment of refills is £75~$95 without the ‘bespoke’ binder!
also having something to say about "The limits of my language are the limits of my world"! I listened to a podcast by invisibilia a few years back that related to this very topic. It was surrounding the concept that words also create feelings- almost in that having a vocabulary for something creates a container through which you can now experience the thing. Super interesting stuff
Plotter has been on my mind for some time. I just never made the assertive decision to purchase it because of apprehension on the system. I’m happy you actually discussed the inners of it in a honest way. Based on this I feel like I’m better off with my current Filofax. TYSM for sharing…it’s caring!❣️✨
"The limits of my language are the limits of my world" is such a profound quote. I also loved how you connected the book’s themes to your own experience with motherhood, especially given how personal and vulnerable you were willing to be. Your introspective approach adds a unique depth to the review, particularly with topics as philosophical as these. Really insightful review-thank you for sharing!
just gotta say I'm obsessed with this. Please talk to me about books some more, haha. I've been wanting to get into more philosophically inclined novels so def going to check this out now.
Oh nice!! I'm glad!! I asked because I watched this right after your video about why you were moving out of your plotter after 2 months haha 😂 That gives me hope that maybe the plotter will still work out for me. I've been considering getting one so doing all the research ❤
Love the format of this video and hearing your thoughts! The combination of writing and the book talk. I was planning on doing a similar video soon so this was inspiring 🤎
Thank you. I hope you feel better now. I personally love my Plotter journal. I use it primarily as my monthly objectives manager to keep track of my art commissions.
akindofcafe, versamagic, and brilliance inks work wonderfully on TRP. I have made my peace with shachihata, but it's entirely too distracting how much it bleeds.
@@the_stationery_writer It's the versamagic chalk ink. There's a versafine and that bleeds. And I forgot another one: artnic (also named Versacolor) won't bleed. ✌🏼
I’m a leatherworker by trade, and I’d say don’t let anyone fob you off with leather that has holes, unattractive scarring, etc. Yes, that happens with a natural material, but reputable leather companies will pattern cut around holes, unacceptable blemishes, etc. We also don’t use leather that is excessively ‘fluffy’ on the back, or that has a weird smell, both are signs of poorly tanned leather. You did the right thing by returning the cover that had damage.
I Love my Plotters. I use my mini 5 as a wallet love love love it I used a little project manager things to put things in that I don't want people to see when I open my notebook private things like financial. It's so nice because I can put a grocery list on it and then throw it away where if I was using a notebook it would just be ugly in it. I also have the Bible size I'm bad about stuffing so it doesn't allow that it always looks nice people always ask me where I got it because they think it's beautiful and I only keep the papers in there that are prettier look nice if I miss one up I can just take it out.
They’re called Himekuri and they make a lot of different designs! I got mine from Yoseka but they’re usually only available around the time planners come out (end of the year) and usually sell out.
Hi A!! This video showed up on my recommendation page and omg the colors swatches are so cute! Glad you are loving these inks and thank you again for your support:) Always great to see you! -RJ
I got so burnt out having too many planner systems so I decided for 2024 I'm just sticking to 1, so far the Jibun Techo has been so useful for me since I'm more of a tracker kind of planner user. I still have other notebooks but they're no longer for planning/organizing specifically. One sketchbook and one morning pages journal. It was so freeing for my mind! These kinds of videos help so much with figuring out what works and what doesn't. So thank you for sharing your experience 💖💖💖
@thestationeaywriter i love your green Sailor pens, which is your favourite? And mind sharing the Kraft Traveler’s notebook card number which holds your ink swatches please I’d love to get acquainted with the booklet, I’ve received my first Midori Tn notebook last week
Sure thing! It’s the “craft card file” the number is 028. Congrats on your Travelers Notebook and welcome to the community 🙂 it’s such a wonderful creative tool. My favorite of the greens is probably still the Dragon Palace. Partially because I have some kind of bond with that pen, it was my first Sailor.
Awww you’re the sweetest, thanks so much and your Dragon pen is stunning indeed! I love mine and got the Tokyo limited edition which has blown me away. Blessings
Tardy to the party over here. Thank you for your honest opinion! This is my first year using rings as an adult (I use Hobonichi exclusively, and rings sort of gave me nightmare fuel from when I was in hs and our school gave us ringed planners), so I was considering Plotter. Then I saw the size of the rings. Then I saw LindseyScribbles' video where she noted she could only fit a month in. Nope, not for me, especially considering the hefty price tag for essentially a ringed planner that can only hold limited space. And I agree, archival is difficult, and another reason I hesitated to try rings. But I do know how to book bind and will be turning my Filofax inserts into little tear away notepads--it's actually easier than you think and you don't really need to buy a bunch of stuff. Books for weight, cardstock (I reuse package boxes), some elmer's glue, binder clips (plenty at my office), scissors...you can do! A good "how-to" is: blog.papercraftpanda.com. It'll actually be easier for you if you keep the "shell" of the plotter refills...anyway. I decided on a Filofax personal size and I plan on getting some inserts from Plotter, Raymay Fuji, Cloth and Paper, and also making my own with purchased downloads. Happy planning!! I've subscribed, I might just binge your content today!
Do you mean the tab dividers or the things towards the back that kinda open up? The ones in the back are the project folders that Plotter makes. The tab dividers are made by Davinci and I get them at Yoseka.
Beautiful! 😍 I love olive greens and I did expect it to be similar to Nuts, but it's nice in its own way. I am waiting on Yoseka to restock Sailor Tuzu, myself. 😁
@@the_stationery_writer Now that I think about it, that makes a lot of sense. I'm usually late to these things and was under the impression I missed out on the first batch 🥴. May I ask where you preordered from and what estimated arrival you have? Thanks!
I pre-ordered from EndlessPens but their preorder is sold out currently. I honestly still don’t know when I’ll get it haha it seems like this pen got delayed or something because it originally said May on the Sailor website. I would just sign up for the stock notice on Yoseka.
I know my comment comes 4 months late, but I agree with your views on Sterling Ink. It's refreshing to hear anything other than absolutely loving Sterling Ink and how incredible she is. I fell for the trap and pre-ordered. I was even one of those who tried to sell theirs off (with no success LOL). Now, I am using it just fine, but Sterling Ink won't get my business next year and I even have an idea in mind for what I'd like. Thanks for sharing, take care!
I do just have to say that there are a TON of different and nice looking archive binders for personal size (which is what plotter Bible size is), if you want one that is similar to travelers notebooks but even has the year embossed and a box that goes with it then go over and check out Franklin Covey's archive binders, i wish they had A6, if you're using a true A6 ring binder there actually ARENT any nice, low cost, archive options.
Thank you! Finally an in depth review on this product. I'm surprised at how tiny the rings are for the price point. Seems like it's more flash than substance; not for me when there are so many more practical/still luxury alternatives out there.
Thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it! I like videos that show use in general because pure hauls make it hard to actually ‘review’ anything at all! I think as with most planners it’s a very individual issue because what works for one might not for another!
I am utterly obsessed with my Plotter, it's been a real game-changer for me (though I don't use mine as a planner). But I am so appreciative of your candid and authentic presentation here. I struggle to find creators that aren't scared to give their honest take on popular stationery items, or, if they are more forthright, it's just for rabid gate-keeping (what constitutes a commonplace book, bujo, etc.,). Plus, you are so right that the majority of Plotter content = unboxings. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for expressing your opinions and pointing out some pretty significant flaws with a few features of the Plotter. And I wish Designphil, who widely distributes their Midori and TN products, would begin offering Plotters to the international market! We need more content beyond "Oh it's such pretty leather"; it's kinda hard to make informed purchasing decisions about whether it's actually worth it on a practical level. There's a lot of Japanese channels I find helpful, but it would be cool to find more English-speakers who, like you did here, offered specific breakdowns of how the inserts/accessories are working out for them. 🙂
