I knew about neopets, but I was never really into it. I have to say, the entire story of Neopets is incredibly fascinating and a great lesson in human nature. I also have a quote which pertains to the neopets black market. The black market was a way of getting around government control, it was a way of enabling the free market to work, it was a way of enabling people. Milton Friedman
I was never allowed Bratz dolls since my Mum thought the makeup was a bad influence on me and little kids but I thought Barbie was too girly and for babies. Somehow I was allowed monster high dolls (granted after a long debate with my mum). She hated how "revealing" they were and how they looked too mature for me but when I was a kid I payed no attention to how skimpy their clothes were. They just looked cool and they were just new characters that I could add to my made up world with the different dolls and toys I owned.
My boyfriend recently got addicted to sims 4 since he saw that it was free and played it nonstop. I guess their strat to make the base game free to play worked
I'm only 31, but when I see a glittery web page or designs of the 90s and early 2000s PCs and interfaces... It makes me feel as if I'm in the coziest place and time.... the feeling of peace and comfort I feel when looking back at my young self learning all these new things, looking out the window, and seeing the trees and the bright blue sunny skies, ...getting yelled at by mom for being on the computer for too much... seeing the interfaces for the first time, the loud keyboards and the clicky mouse with the ball underneath that you had to clean so much...using the media player to play "I like big butts and I cannot lie" It was THE time for my stupid young self, and I miss it dearly. Makes sense, though, it was my childhood. first PC I saw and used was my cousin's Windows 95? 98? back in 1999 I wasn't allowed to use it for long SpaceCadet Pinball, Paint and solitaire, note pad narrator... is what I remember first experiencing on PC, we didn't have internet, and this was in Puerto Rico, we weren't inside playing all day, we were always out surfing, so I never learned about the internet or computers, until 2002-03 after my family moved to the states, and we eventually had our own PC, I used the computer offline, until we got internet around 2004. Then I discovered RuneScape in June of 2005, and my internet presence really began after that, just because of that game, I really miss when things were "skewmorphic" and bubbly...
Green pastures, bright sunny day, a clean gleaming city in the distance, trees and plants and ofcourse, turquoise water... There's something about that ideal, it's like we achieved harmony with nature and civilization... But today? It's all dark roads, bland pasty colors, fewer colors, and lots of sharp edges that poke my brain and give me headache.... I miss so much when apps were bubbles, when logos were art, when interfaces "popped" out and drew attention..... Why even change that? It was fine...
One of my greatest Sims memories was getting Sims 3's pets expansion. I pre-ordered it and installed it immediately so I could make my dogs into the game. One of them glitched in the Create A Sim section by turning into a glitched Slenderman. I was so terrified I jumped out of my chair and ran out of the room. Then I was too scared to close the program out, so I had to navigate the computer screen with my eyes half closed. All of this happened with two Japanese temporary transfer students in the living room with me, with no context as to what just happened. All they saw was a preteen freaking out when 10 minutes ago they were having the happiest day of their life. I refused to open the game up for a very, very long time.
I thanks the warrior cat fandom for being so … ummm themselves ? long story short : I have 6h to make a work on fire and ice I thinks and I didn’t finish the book ( didn’t even finish the first chapter) but then to the fandom , I got wiki , animation and resumer that explain everything to me
I had an unhealthy obsession with this game as a kid. For at least a year I’d wake up and only think about Animal Jam every single day, no exceptions. I was a shitty kid, though. On one occasion I hacked into an account my friend had, even though they weren’t rare. Then on a second separate occasion, I made an acquaintance online who said they’d help me scam people, which was something I did almost regularly… then I scammed them and got my first ever black long collar. As an adult I feel super bad looking back on it all, because even at the time I knew it wasn’t okay. I think I’d get an adrenaline rush from scamming people as a kid… and that’s why I now blame Animal Jam for me becoming an adrenaline junky (>.<)
I’m was out of the target age demographic by the time virtual worlds got huge. So everything I know about them is purely from RU-vid videos. But this shit is FASCINATING. Like screw National Geographic, this study of human nature is absolutely riveting.
As a Pegasister who was v late to the fandom. It’s all this was going on while I was simply trying to catch up on the series. I still haven’t watched the last season… but I am a die-hard mlp fan so I’m subbed
Me and my sister loved this game! My sister actually introduced me first and her den was always the best to me! We eventually got membership and everything afterwards got better! Now I don’t play anymore. It’s just not the same ya know?
As a seasoned GGG player, my absolute favorites were the interior design/bedroom maker type games, which very easily translated into me becoming a huge Sims fan. But I could never stop going back for the absolutely bizarre Korean "sue" genre/brand games that I would lose every time because I couldn't read Korean I also never played Pony Wood, but I did play clone game they had called "Bomber Pengu" lmao
Companies keep doing bad business decisions like this to “make money putting profits before people” and as a result end up loosing tons of money and any potential for profit . We need to stop supporting the myths that these bad business practices are a good way to make money , they clearly are only a good way to both screw people over and lose money .
5:37 as a 13 year old roblox player, i remember these lmao it may sound crazy but i started playing in early 2015 before i turned 5, so i remember the blocky avatars and pill babies. edit: thank you for the warriors tangent lol i played that game too, did you know the old one and the new one share a dev? at least one of the devs from wcue worked on forrest territory i have like all the gps lmao and play several other of the wcrp games
When I was kid I was limited to like two “big gifts” for Christmas. In 2007 one of those was Sims Castaway for the Wii(I know). Upon booting it up it took years to load any menu. It looked truly horrible, like when you put 720p video on fullscreen. But also the colors were terrible, so drab and repetitive. I immediately got completely overwhelmed by the crafting. And confused by the resource gathering. I suppose some of my experience can be explained by it being the Wii version. But still I was very let down.
I think it’s pretty obnoxious to cut out the same content from previous games to release them as DLC again. Shouldn’t previous DLCs be included as base content in the next entry and new DLC be…new? Seems like pets and toddlers are continuously cut on purpose to make more money.
splatoon fans have copied off of this but instead they get it from salmonids, a sapient race with its own culture and customs which basically turns it into a "foreigners spread diseases" thing that is a little too close to the whole covid racism fiasco. and they post their weird shit in the in-game square, which forces people and children to be exposed to it against their will where the only way to not see it is to disable all online interaction besides gameplay altogether
Oh I was OBSESSED with an MMO called "Dragon's Prophet" like. you could catch and breed dragons and you could ride AND FLY AROUND ON THEM WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?? (the absolutely RIDICULOUS amount of grinding you had 2 do to reach the higher lvls but STILL)
I started playing the Sims 4 in 2023 after playing the Sims 3 on my friends laptop. I was thrilled that only needed to pay for the expansion pack, but was pretty disappointed: You can’t play the pets! This makes them kind of annoying. Also I learned to ignore all the moods except for „inspired“. Overall I like the graphics and building houses but it wasn’t quite what I had hoped for. I am still debating getting the Sims 3 instead
I have a oc named planet DX based off of another character of the same name that is practically a remake of another OC but he appears as a black and white gas giant planet with two ring system's and red and blue polygonal eyes he also wheilds a black and white sword and has a red and blue hat and has a variety of different forms and is also one of 3 managers/creators of my version of the universe.
Y'know, I always thought the flash sentry controversy was a bit immature but after learning of the Tara Strong tweets, I don't think I can blame them anymore
I remember going into stores buying and collecting the moshling figures. I never completed a full series though. I think the closest i got was series 3 just missing one
