If Sims 5 happens I won't be surprised if being hungry was part of the base game and eating was part of the "Basic Needs" Expansion Pack.

My wife introduced me to the Sims 4 by making a character of me in her household. I picked "clumsy" and "good natured" as traits, and promptly had a heart attack on the treadmill. My sim would fall due to clumsiness, laugh due to being good natured, and would be in good spirits to continue running- this looped until my sim was in hysterics, on a treadmill, and his heart gave out.

Honestly, sometimes I get defensive about TS4, but then I realise, I'm playing a copy that I got illegitimately, with all the DLC, with too many mods to count. At this point I'm not playing TS4, I'm playing what the community has made of it. Thanks, sims community!

This comment will be unread but well I was part of the beta testers for the Sims 4 before its release. I was absolutely shocked by the disappearance of open worlds, shops, cars, insects, pools, toddlers, ghosts, playable jobs and much more as we players expected "rabbit holes" from the Sims 3 to go extinct in the Sims 4. With other testers, we warned EA about the cruel lack of content in the game, and they basically responded that "they had to make sacrifices to implement the complex system of emotions" and that they will never change anything before release. When the game released they compensated the lack of content by paying every influencer on Earth to play their damn game and say it's amazing. They still got roasted by the community and had to kneel to add pools, ghosts and toddlers for free, but damn. I am very worried about what the Sims 5 will be.

I just miss the open world so much. All my sims 4 sims are the biggest loners because the loading screens just make going anywhere so annoying too me. As soon as I play with more than one sim they are basically never leaving because I hate that I cannot control both of them at the same time unless they are in the same place. Weirdly, I also just loved watching my sims travel to different parts of their town by bike or in a car because I loved the animation and how realistic it made the game. There was just so much more to do.

My theory for gatherings like weddings in the Sims is that each lot has a max total of collective brain cells. The more Sims involved in a thing, the thinner the brain cells are spread between them.

My favorite was the excuse for no color wheel being performance. As someone who knows quite a bit about how game development actually works, i can tell you that changing the color of an object is quite literally one of the easiest things your GPU can do. The way they did it, using unique textures for each swatch, is actually less performant since you need to stream in and out those textures, and store them in memory especially if you have multiple objects with different swatches. This was simply done out of either laziness or simply to save server resources on the multiplayer game. (I dont know how it can be lazyness though, its actually about 2 lines of shader code). Its only (slightly) less efficient for networking, since instead of sending 4 color values, youre just sending which swatch number youre using. This is absolutely the reason.

As someone who finally picked up the Sims 4 because it went free-to-play, I'm glad the base game is free nowadays. It makes pirating all the expansion packs and DLC content so much simpler.

I know I'm late, but my biggest gripe with Sims 4 is that making sims is great, building a house is even better. But after that I'll play for maybe 15 minutes and get bored because there's nothing to do. Despite what they said on release the sims have no personality, nothing ever affects anything, mood is completely irrelevant, and they even turned off wants by default. There is a complete lack of content after the build stage. And the amount of content you get in things like stuff packs really makes me wonder how many people are really working on Sims 4. Because let's be honest - things like 25 objects in a stuff pack, many of which don't even have any animations or interactions like windows or lamps or general decor items, shouldn't take more than a month to make for like 5 people max. Especially when you consider that many items nowadays are just covert recolours or resizes of items that already exist.

Nothing more infuriating than traveling to an apartment building in the sims 4, having nothing loaded but blank walls and no furniture and needing to go to a separate loading screen to visit an apartment in the same building you didn’t specifically “travel to”. I’m literally looking at the inside of the apartment, LET ME IN! LET ME INNNNN!!!!!!!

The fact that they released a survey questioning what packs do the community want in the future and Star Wars was part of the poll and got the lowest amount of votes yet they released Journey to Batuu like weeks after is so insane LOL

I’m an avid Sims 3 player and I’d like to add that emotions were already technically in 3. When you go over the mood bar, it says what state your sims is in. While it’s not as in depth as 4, it still does it’s job, and it is balanced out well with the moodlet system

OMG thank you for putting the "sanatized" feeling into words! I was always feeling like Sims 4 was missing so much egde. I just couldn't articulate it. One example: In Sims 2 I had a cowplant as a university student. And it would eat my teachers without me noticing until I checked my grades and realised they had dropped because of this. And it ate my two roomates next. I brought my roommates back from the dead but they ended up being zombies instead of real Sims. And they kept destroying everything. I kicked them out and put them in their own family and I played a long time with them. It was fun. But something like this would never happen in Sims 4. I also loved building own apartment lots and things like that, but that doesn't work in Sims 4. You can't even make a community place with more than one function. I used to build malls with shops and restaurants and pools and things for fitness (mainly because I didn't want to travel to many different lots, so I wanted to have everything in one place). This doesn't work in Sims 4 either. You can't have a Spa and a Restaurant on the same lot, it won't work. And you can't open your own store at your home anymore either, another thing I used to do in Sims 2. I can mainly compare Sims 4 to Sims 2 because I didn't have a good laptop when Sims 3 came around and only was able to actually play the game again with Sims 4. Sims 2 will always have a special place in my heart, I recently started playing it again and while the graphics aren't as pretty as Sims 4, it's still my favourite of the installments. (Together with Medieval tbh, that spinoff was wild and so much fun). Edit: English isn't my first language so errors/faults/weird phrasing come as a free stuff pack!

When I was very new to Sims 4 I accidentally bought the My First Pets pack instead of the Cats and Dogs pack. Instead of spending $40 to get cats and dogs I accidentally spent $60 to get cats, dogs and hamsters. That was a rough day.

Whoever doesn't play the Sims 3 any more, I don't know what you miss about it, but here is what I miss: 1) The color wheel and the ability to design each and every detail of a house. Speaking of the Sims 4 furniture, with many pieces of it being rather ugly-looking, there are a few different color options to choose from, but the overall ugliness of that furniture remains. 2) The open world and the ability to follow your sims, or the NPC's you would like for them to meet, wherever they go. For crying out loud, simply exploring the open world means a lot to me. That includes any game based on the open world, not just the Sims 3, whereas in the Sims 4, only certain lots can be explored and WALKED around, which is yet another story. I mean having no cars to drive. 3) The camera followed my main characters in the Sims 3, but it won't do it in the Sims 4. Seriously, what's up with that? 4) Clicking on certain buildings in the Sims 3 had brought up quite a few options about them: from getting a job there to taking classes and improving certain skills. Can we do that in the Sims 4? Nope. Bomber... err... Bummer... The list can go on and on, seriously; yet, the major pain in the rear is that certain things do come back in the Sims 4, with new DLC's, but it all was just there, in the base game of the Sims 3... PS: If something isn't broken, don't fix it.

It shocks me how seasons, jobs, colleges, pets, and any type of WEATHER wasn’t added in the base game. Those things are a big part of life, how are they not included in a life simulation?

The thing I hate the most is that EA strips away all the previous game features to sell them back again as Expansion Packs, in full game price. They can't keep getting away with that.

This entire video is just SO telling coming back to it now that they've announced the Sims 5 will be "free to enter / download" I can't say I didn't see it coming but I CAN say we are ALL disappointed in the future of the sims.

Hi, I’m a user who started playing TS4 after it became free! I liked the base game a lot for the first couple months, enjoying the autonomy of my Sims and their goofy lifestyle more than anything. I had not grown up playing other Sims games and was quite impressed with it at first. I was introduced to the cracks for the game through my sister, which made me wonder what made the DLC good enough to pirate. I was big into custom content and that tied me over until they released Growing Together, which made me realize just how expensive the DLC packs were. I’ve since purchased both Growing Together and the horse pack, and I do regret it because of how broken and disappointing they are. Growing Together’s brand new milestones and some life features were broken right off the bat, causing some young sims to be unable to progress in development and some to completely change appearance after a loose tooth falls out. It really feels like EA is a money hungry company at this point

I started playing the Sims 4 a few days ago. I used to play Sims 2 & 3 a lot but Sims 4 scared me away with those dozens of packs and whatever. Anyways, here are some things I noticed: 1. This game is sooo easy. I remember having a household with four adults in Sims 1 and oh my, I had to juggle all their need paying close attention. Here? Two adults and I can relentlessly force them to do my bidding for HOURS before I have to let to go to the bathroom and the kitchen real quick before they resume working on their computer etc. Especially the social need is so easy to fix back up after they have been alone for a while. It takes forever to go down. 2. The first Sim I created lived right next to the second household. Like their house was right next to mine, I could even see it. But whenever I wanted to go over there...loading screen. Are you kidding me? In reality I could even throw a stone from my window against theirs and here I need a loading screen to say hello? In Sims 3 I spontaneously rode my bike to the city to go shopping constantly and now I need a loading screen to visit my direct neighbour?! 3. Friendships seem unbreakable. Once someone is your friend their friendship bar seems to never go down even when I don't get in touch. Other games where way stricter where I had to make an effort to remain friends with them. 4. I was having fun but also being underwhelmed at the same time? It was bizarre. I noticed a ton of tiny little thins that bothered me. A few examples: No burglars? Whenever I buy a fire alarm, I also buy a security system. Here? Nothing. No cars, no bikes? Seriously? When I go to work I won't get picked up, I just leave the house and disappear from the spot? My pregnant Sim was barely an inconvenience. Like she started to walk funny but nothing else changed, not even her mood. Speaking of moods: During their wedding they were both CONCENTRATING INTENSELY. Like maybe it was because I didn't want to bother with an actual ceremony and spontaneously did it in their living room but they were super focused like they were trying to find a cure for cancer while they were getting MARRIED. what on earth is this emotions system doing? The emotions are hardly appropriate and barely affecting whatever I am doing. I have 16h in this game and the emotions don't even faze me anymore, I can effortlessly ignore them. Feeling flirty after taking a shower? Who are you even? I myself feel refreshed coming out of the bathroom but my Sims want to flirt afterwards. Sure, whatever floats your boat.

I’m one of those ppl who downloaded The Sims 4 after it was free! I always wanted to play it when I was younger, but it was always too expensive. October last year, I saw it was free, and was excited to get my grubby little custom character loving hands on it. My reaction was that it honestly felt kind if bare and boring. There was nothing to draw me in, and with most of the stuff that I thought was cool when I watched youtubers play The Sims 3&4 locked behind pretty hefty paywalls, I ended up dropping it after a few weeks. In my kind of beginner opinion, if the base game was that simple the whole time, it should’ve been free a lot sooner.

I always thought that the Sims 4 emotions were at least a little realistic because I related to a lot of how their emotions worked, then I found out my family has a history of rapid switching bipolar So... Yeah

When I was in elementary school, I asked for the sims 4 cats and dogs expansion pack for the holidays and to my surprise I actually got it! Little me was ecstatic.... and then i found out that it was an EXPANSION pack lol I proceeded to awkwardly tell my parents that I thought that it was just. a version of the Sims 4 with cats and dogs added in and not just a pack that would add them into the Sims 4. I was lucky they were willing to buy me the actual Sims 4 after that because I was a kid who just saw cute animals and a game I was wanting to play not realizeing it was a seperate thing

I purchased every single sims 2 and sims 3 pack as a kid. Every birthday or Christmas, my main gift list was Sims games. The sims4 is the first time I've ever not purchased a sims game, and that SHATTERED my heart. It is almost like I had a collectors' mentality about the packs, but I also enjoyed them. I've played this game since I was 8 and LOVED this franchise since I was a child. Sims4 ruined that love, and that's sad to me.

I laugh that the studios said that making SimCity offline playable was "impossible" then within that week, someone hacked it to be played offline 😂😂😂

One of the big scandals in the Sims community was the terrible, terrible EA builds. I remember Strangerville having houses with completely empty rooms and a house with a nonfunctional kitchen (because the counters were blocked by a fruit bowl), Get Famous having a mansion with no toilets in any of the bathrooms, and Realm of Magic having a house with a staircase that led to a blank wall instead of a door. Now that they've started getting Sims community members to do the builds it has been a massive improvement and I'm glad that they took in people's feedback on those builds, but it was dark days for a while there.

And, this is exactly why none of this will ever get better and they will never care about the feedback from the community. This ending speech, exactly. If you will buy it no matter what. And if you will defend it no matter what. Then what reason do they ever have to try to win you over? Their job is already done. They've already won you over without ever having to lift a finger. All they need to do is collect their cut.

i had a wedding last week in my game with wedding stories and all of the guests decided to sit in the middle of the aisle, my sim couldn't even walk down and then I realized the groom had somehow left the lot....was holding back tears my wedding was ruined man

In The Sims 3 Late Night we got: vampires, apartments, celebrities/fame system, and hot tubs but all of those things were in separate packs for The Sims 4 🙃

We haven't even talked about how the weather in Seasons wasn't compatible with ANY other pack, creating difficulties combining them but not being able to fix these issues or remove certain contradicting features (:

I remember before the game came out and EA was advertising a game with real consequences, where small changes and interactions with sims would have long complex effects on the world over time. Kind of a butterfly effects situation.. Needless to say, none of that ever actually happened.

I miss the chaos from the sims 3. Sims bad at cooking could set the house on fire, i think dryers could also do the same thing, my favorite thing ever was when a robber would break in, there were these creepy nutcracker puppet sims that you could have do your bidding, and everu single sim in existence would autonomously do some chaotic shit. You could go out to a consignment store and a vampire could walk up and bite you.

I have a feeling Sims 5 will be multi-player opinional for a fee and alot of money grabbing shenanigans. Sims 3 will always be my ride or die! Also awesome video! Perfect to create a sim too 😂

It was the colour wheel for me. Having the freedom to change sims hair to three separate colours if I wanted to, and making every wood the exact same colour when decorating was brilliant! To then go to the sims 4 where you can’t customise was infuriating! There are objects in buy mode that I absolutely love, but the colour options and combinations are horrible, and so I never use them. It’s a shame. To THEN give us the colour wheel but JUST for pets almost felt like a slap in the face. I’ll never forgive taking the colour wheel away .

In Sims 5 there's gonna be a pack "seasons" and "holidays", then is Sims 6 it's gonna be like "rain" "sunny weather" "winter" "autumn" and then "holidays"

I was honestly genuinely upset about Journey to Baatu. It was a really cool idea and it could bave been a great expansion pack if only they had put a little more effort and time into it. My main issue with it is that after completing the story, nothing really happens. It doesn’t matter which faction you choose to work for, there are no actual repercussions. So what even is the point of making me choose and completing the storyline? The “aliens” being masks has also been a huge letdown. Like, actual aliens were already in the game, how hard could it be to add a couple more occults to CAS? Baatu could have been a really cool world to live in, but they just wasted it.

So I actually worked on Sims 4 as QA for about a year. This was around when Restaurants, Apartments/City life, and Pets were being worked on(though Pets was a secret even in the team at this point, very early in dev). If your restaurant works because the chef basically turns into a piece of the furniture rather than being an actual Sim, hey, that was me, I found the bug that made that necessary. Anyway, we got to meet the devs at one point, two of them came to talk to us at where we worked. They got a bunch of us in a room and we'd get to talk to them in small groups. When we got in there(maybe halfway through the line, we had over a hundred staff), they just looked _tired_. We talked a bit, and a question came up about the engine. We'd known for a while that they had been forced to use a new engine for Sims 4(which is where most of the massive problems with the game actually originate from) rather than iterate on the one that they'd been using so well for Sims 3. And one of the devs sat up like he was going to answer, but their 'company representative' who was with them just snapped over to look at him, and he slowly settled back down again while the other dev simply said 'We thought it was a good idea'. Never felt more sorry for someone.

see, the emotions system is actually a really subtle piece of storytelling- every sim has a mood disorder, and it's a very well done, nuanced depiction of daily life with this overwhelming mental health issue. EA wanted simmers with mood disorders to feel understood, and those without to be more sympathetic to people suffering with them. ... or it's just a bad, busted system.

I started playing in 2023, and I immediately got the vibes that this game was a means to sell the extra content. I enjoy the game immensely now that I bought some of the extra content, and it's so crazy to me that this game was originally supposed to be "stable". I'm flabbergasted at the fact this game still has bugs so many years later.

Maybe I never explored it enough, but the vacations from Sims 3 to Sims 4 was a left down. In 3, I went to Egypt, and there was a TON of stuff to do. In Sims 4, I went camping and ... Sat by a fire.

I really don't understand how Sims players can stomach all the DLC. I've wanted to try the series more than once now but going to the store page and seeing hundreds of pounds of paywalled features and content is genuinely repulsive.

I honestly think the sims team could make a killing updating and re-releasing the sims 2 & 3. I miss the lore of the sims 2 and the open world of sims 3 and the depth of story telling in both. I’ve bled money into the sims 4 but the spark just isn’t the same. (Mods help so much but I’m so lazy to update them 😭😭)

Hearing you describe how the sims lost its dark lore in the newest installment, I feel the fans for Animal Crossing also feel the same since the animals seem to have lost their edge a lot as well. They made them more friendly and less fleshed out in a lot of ways and many of them say the same thing (assuming they have the same personality type). It was fun to look up conspiracies on Animal Crossing much like it is for Sims. It's more casual on the outside, but finding the mystery was the real challenge. I miss it too.

I'll admit the most fun i get from the sims 4 is that I'm currently juggling 37 different sims with elaborate backstories that exist only in my head.

I don't really follow updates about this game since for the last however many years it's just been packs and kits, but I had no idea that for the 20th anniversary of the franchise all we got was a freakin hot tub??? Other franchise use these big dates to sell merch, announce spin-offs and reboots, etc... and all the sims fans got was an in-game item??

Every time you hear game devs go, "We're reinventing the genre", "we'll be going back to the roots of the franchise" or anything similar, you know you're in for an absolutely abominable time.

Also, to add to the list of drama: -Bust the Dust was ironically busted as hell. Dust spawned too quickly, the aspirations were broken, dust bunnies brought back insanely expensive items and constantly added money to your family. Also refer to the general packs point below -The NAPs were also broken where you could have every action plan active at once regardless of voting -The cakes in Wedding Stories spoiled because they were essentially kept in an inventory until the wedding. -The social menu is absolutely ridiculously bloated with interactions like Ask If Mermaid that are essentially useless -The packs all included mood buffs that overpowered any other moodlet and often were inconsequential things (e.g.the floor being clean) -Skintones in the update were extremely broken as mentioned and are still very broken. The cool and neutral skintones would often produce kids with warm skintones or would be outside the parents shade range. -In the NEW expac, the losing a tooth moodlet/function would make sims faces change when they age up by making the nose a lot smaller and move it up the face til they look like the Whovillians

The botched emotional system makes me absolutely cherish the Meaningful Stories mod. It's a game-changer.

I feel like EA's obsession with making an online Sims game is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of why people play the Sims. For me personally, at least, I play the Sims when I DON'T want to actually interact with people, but still want to fill my "social" gauge, in Sims terms. Having an online version of the game fully ruins the point - when your gameplay is fundamentally based on social simulations, and you remove the simulation part, of course all you have left is a glorified chatroom. What's the point?

You forgot the incident at the high school years pack! In short, an updated relationships feature resulted in some inappropriate relationship between adults and children.

Other controversies missed: the sims team's struggle with black hairstyles and incest. Less big but I've also seen fans complain about adults interacting with children while 'flirty', they cannot perform any flirty interactions with children but many people find it uncomfortable when a parent helps their child with homework and then bites their lip sensually as an idle animation.

I love hearing about your experience with the sims vs my own as I was a kid/tween when the first one came out. I bought the base game and 3 expansions with my 12th birthday money. I got really into the second one. Back then you could share the packs as long as you owned at least one pack, whichever one you installed last would be the one you needed the CD to use to play so me and my friends all shared our packs so we didn't have to buy them all. By the time the third one came out I was a young adult and I had no extra money, my computer could barely run it, I couldn't afford any expansion packs so I barely touched it and always went back to The Sims 2. I basically jumped from 2-4 I never got to fully enjoy the glory of 3.

I've not played Sims 4. I remember being frustrated with Sims 2 about the fact nobody aged at the same time, because of the isolated lots. Sims 3 was my absolutly favorite because all the city move so I don't have to quit my Sims to go âge its crush so they can continue dating. When I saw Sims 4 returns to close lots, I know it wasnt for me

I needed this after my sims 4 infant aged up to a toddler and she was covered in blood that I could not figure out how to remove in CAS. Decided to run with it and enable her autonomy to kill other sims with a mod…. immediately attempts to murder her mom and now there’s 4 urns on the sidewalk 😭

Stuff like this is why I’m so excited for other life-sim games like Paralives and Life by You. Not because I want the sims to fail and be replaced, but because I think competition will force it to improve

As someone who grew up playing Sims 1 and later Sims 2, I was never a big fan of Sims 3. It ran TERRIBLY on my computer and it seems to still have that issue to this day, even on high end systems. So I don't have a lot of playtime in Sims 3 for that reason and don't have nostalgia for it either, and think getting rid of the open world was a good thing in that sense. Sims 4 was a great upgrade visually in my opinion, but if you compare it to the Sims 2, the animations etc. are all underwhelming. Playing 'Live' mode in the Sims 4 is a pain in the butt, but I do love the Sims 4 'Build' mode - when that isn't buggy, lol. TLDR you play Sims 4 to build not to play with sims, imo (which isn't a good thing, it's supposed to be a life sim). The best one for me personally is the Sims 2.

I got Sims 4 in 2018 when it was free on Origin. It was the same day I begged my parents to get it for me. And then my sister was like "IT'S FREE RIGHT NOW". Love it. Mostly play create a sim though lol.

Your content is so good! One random story about the sims- one time I was mid-marriage with my boyfriend, when I got a notification from his mom saying he had passed away and he turned into an urn right there at the wedding, the sims is truly a beautiful game.

I'm going to be honest. I hate the sentiments. My sim was roughhousing with his toddler and now every time he's around or tries to interact with her, she becomes upset. But he can't do anything about it because she'll just throw a fit ... Sis what on earth do you want me to do? You can't take care of yourself 😭

Something else about the Batuu pack that didn't get mentioned is that they had been sending out a lot of polls to the community at that time asking for feedback on what content to work on next. They included a Star Wars pack on one such poll, I seem to remember it got a shockingly low percentage of votes, and within a few days they announced the Batuu pack. I think the idea was that if they included it in a poll, surely everyone would be excited about the concept of a Star Wars pack and vote for that, and won't the community be so excited when they can get it immediately! But obviously that's not even close to what happened and it instead was a very transparent manipulation attempt on the part of the PR team or whoever was in charge of the polls. That was a big subject of anger in the first few days of the launch, but the poll has largely been forgotten in the grand scheme of things and I don't see it mentioned much anymore. I haven't actually seen an official poll like that be sent out since either.

I started playing the Sims 4 shortly after Cottage Living came out so I got the base game for $5. This was my first Sims game that I've ever played. It's interesting to learn about the past with Strangerville and Eco Lifestyle as those are two of my favorite packs.

I grew up with Sims 1 and 2, and played a fair bit of Sims 3, but when the Sim City reboot bombed I didn't bother going for Sims 4. Once it went free-to-play I gave it a shot, I realized that the 'me' playing Sims now, versus the 'me' playing Sims back in 2004, are no longer the same person. Wouldn't say my love for simulation games is gone, but it feels lot emptier playing it now. I knew it the moment I watched my Sim spend hours on his computer just like I literally am, and the irony was too intense.

If you want an actual good "Sims" makeup palette, the Trixie x Juno palette had a lot of Sims inspiration, even has shades named after bonehilda, the grim reaper, and joy despret (idk if she's canon or junos original creation but she's a sim)

I picked up The Sims Makin Magic as a 6 year old in 2005 not knowing it was an expansion pack and subsequently couldn't play it, though I was mesmerised by the box art, the magician, fairy, gnome, mummy, snake charmer, everything magical and whimsical. Then we bought The Sims 2 and I played it to bits (despite my first interaction with the Sims 1 not knowing there were expansion packs for The Sims 2, my family wasn't big on technology or gaming) and I have the fondest memories for that game and the endless possibilities it seemed to offer (my niece was practicing building houses because she wanted to become an architect). From The Sims 3 onward I started collecting more and more expansion packs (though no stuff packs). I didn't like 3 at first, but eventually warmed up to it and still have fond memories of that as well, especially World Adventures, Generations and Supernatural. The Sims 4 is really weird, because I was enamoured by Create a Sim and Build mode, but beyond that I have almost no fond memories of the game (even after 10 years). It constantly carries the promise that you can do anything (and I do fantasize about what I could do), but in the end I just spent hundreds of euros buying expansion packs, only to play the game for short amounts of times and not connecting to it like I did with The Sims 2 and 3. Part of it is probably my own life's background, my mental state and the fact that I've grown up, but The Sims 4 remains to me a pretty thing with no grit or vision, an empty shell of promise. As an adult I would much rather fantasize about and come up with my own ideal Sims game than actually playing the real thing, even though I would never actually release a game. I played The Sims 4 before The Sims 3. I was so overwhelmed, and I was like omg I can’t imagine how UNDERwhelmed people were going the other way around.

I just started watching your videos and I’ve been binge watching them all! I love the longer ones as well! Awesome channel!! In reference to this video I got the Sims 4, because I too loved every other version. It tends to be pretty glitchy but the funniest thing to me is a Sim I made. I swear he has sentience; no matter how I try to make him nice he’s a jerk ass at all times; and I find it absolutely hilarious. I’ve tried to remake him from scratch without using my saved model and adjusted the personality traits and he still turned into a menace.

2 points: the Custom Content community and the fight between corporatism and passion: One thing missing from this video is a short segment of how the sims 4 desperately hinges on the custom content community. In no other game were mods and cc REQUIRED before the sims 4. Although in Sims 3 there were mods that fixed the game a bit, but i can forgive it because it’s such an old and ambitious game. However there’s no excuse for sims 4… mods make it playable and fun, and it’s a running joke that the team doesn’t mind popping out broken and unfinished packs because they know the modding community will fix it. This is a huge huge issue because these mods are made for free by volunteer creators. They are always 10 steps ahead of EA, and oftentimes get their work stolen or appropriated by the team itself with 0 recognition. The last part of the video is very relevant.. its hard to separate with this game because of the beautiful potential. There ARE team members that are absolutely passionate about the game, and very devoted to delivering a great product them and us players can be proud of!! However they are squashed by the greed of corporatism, forced to take things away, rush development, lie to the player base, and cut every single possible corner to squeeze every single cent possible. This creates so much resentment. We will never have a good sims game again if the function of the artists and developers are so in opposition to the company and brand.

My biggest turn-off in Sims4 was that I couldn't multitask. I hated not being in an open-world, because I always liked to have a full household with kids and animals and manage them going about their everyday life. It was challenging to keep track of everybody, and to me that was the most fun about the whole thing. Sims4 just didn't cut it for me then.

I remember being so frustrated with the emotions when the game first dropped. I can't remember why now, but for some reason I needed to kick over a garbage can, so I needed to be angry. Unfortunately, because I chose 'loves the outdoors' for my sim, the SECOND she went outside her emotion flipped to happy. I wore the angry hat, painted an angry painting and stared at it, got into a fight, and made it to this deep red ENRAGED, took one step out the front door - immediately flipped to green happy. I couldn't do it. There was nothing I could do to stay angry enough to get down 2 steps and kick over a garbage can. I couldn't understand how this was the system the team had raved about so much. Another example is of one of my sim kids who literally just watched his mother die in front of him. But his emotion was happy because he'd had a good day at school. Edit because my brain says to type one thing, but my fingers just smash whatever keys they feel like.

i remember trying ts4 when it launched, playing with one family for a few days, and then returning to 3 until the vampires pack launched at the exact same time that i had broken my game with no backups a few years later. to this day i still love several premade families from 2 and 3, but the sims 4 premades? asides from a couple i got attached in my own gameplay, they're all the same.

I'm a new Sims player. I have heard of it but I was never able to convince my parents to buy it for me when I was younger. I was able to play the Sims where you live with a grandma using someone else's game/ console before. I really like S4 so far and was lucky to grab the free packs they offered on Epic, but wished for more. I loved watching other ppl's Sims series on YT and getting invested in the stories! I'm now resorting to CC to enhance my enjoyment and once I find a job I can hopefully buy the packs that I would the most without paying 1k I'm slowly learning about the community I was never able to join, and this video helps a lot! Sort of like a sims museum archive. So far I'm liking Seasons, Snowy Escape, Eco Lifestyle, Book Nook, Vampires, werewolves, Paranormal, Tiny Living, Magic and Laundry. I heard S4 also did a hispanic month thing and was surprised they put a dish from my country which I was rlly hyped about and told my family I'm honestly astonished to how much change a large amount of fans can do petitioning and yelling louder even bringing their concerns w/ the white house lol

I just heard how you were wondering about how the Sims being free was for new players, and for me, it was like a door opening for me. I was stuck just watching the sims games and barely continuing playing Sims Moblie, and right now, I haven’t even touched it. But it becoming free has made me invested it learning about the community, getting back into the sims, and it really revitalize my Sims 4 era when I was younger.

If a new update for a game such as minecraft, or genshin impact where you are given so much new content, was priced the same as a sim expansion, it would be mental - while yes the older games had expansions, its lifespans have been over half the time of the sims 4, the fact the sims 4 has got away with this for almost 10 years is crazy to me
