Hi, this video is my inspiration to return to the aquarium. I often encounter the phenomenon that after a period of planting, the tree will turn yellow and die. I turned on the lights and fertilized. I do not understand. Why is that, can you suggest me, thank you.
Hey! Thank you for your feedback. I read that mudskippers have a high tolerance for freshwater and have discussed this with people who have kept them under these conditions. What I learned is that mudskippers cannot reproduce in freshwater, just like Nerite Snails and Amano Shrimp. I made this paludarium last year. Four mudskippers lived in this paludarium for about a year without any problems. Then I dismantled this tank; this video is from last year. I uploaded it to RU-vid now. I definitely don't want to give viewers incorrect information. We should pursue this hobby without harming the animals.
Hey there! Mudskipper keeper here. This tank will NOT be suitable long term for mudskippers. They will die quickly due to the fact that they need BRACKISH water. Please do your research so you don’t do things like this.

Mudskippers can live in both fresh water and brackish water. However, they need brackish water to reproduce, just like Nerite Snails and Amano Shrimps. Around the pond inside the tank, there is a sandy area and a muddy section they need.

You can make diy aqua soil by mixing 0 size charcoal, garden soil, and 0 size crushed Lava rock. Charcoal and lava rock will be colonized by good bacteria and also give your plant nutrients. You can watch Y U L I A A Q U A S C A P E videos on YT
Hi, here is some of plants I use and I recommend for low tech tank: Slavonia Natans Pistia Subulata Echinodorus Americanus Cryptocoryne Anubias Lagenandra Meeboldii Red Ludwigia Repens Hygrophila Corymbosa Pogostemon Octopus Myriophyllum Mattogrossense Java Moss Pinna Lotus Bolbitos asiacata Afflame Rotala
really pretty tank love how informative you are, you have the perfect narrative voice! i'm inspired to create a similar ecosystem hopefully it will be successful like yours!!
Good idea with the second jar! Wild weeds need a tall container because they grow so fast. I hope it will be enough for them, and that you'll see some worms and other bugs in the soil soon.
There is something you really need to do for a natural ecosystem tank like this, it's collecting some leaves or mud in a natural pond or stream outside. It contains all the microorganisms that your tank need to be healthy. This will lid to a more complete ecosystem. If you want more informations, check the channel : father fish. He made a ton of videos on this topic.
Thank you for your advice. In such setups, these tiny creatures will gradually form on their own within the aquarium. I think you didn’t watch this video fully.
Tank size and the amount of plants and fish is why no filtration can work. If you have a small tank, it's harder to achieve. But balance between plants and the amount of fish is key.
You’re so right. It’s possible to make no filter in small tanks too, as you said balance is so important. In coming weeks I will publish a video about nano filterless tank with nano fish.
Thank you so much! I have two LED lights for this tank but I got time long time ago and I don’t remember their power. These ones are cheap lights. Nothing special.
What's funny is that I have a system similar to this (Father Fish method) with my 10 gallon long & it's up in the 8.0 range for alkalinity despite the use of botanicals. It turns out that it's the Seiryu stone that's making it alkaline. ^^ The rest of the parameters are perfect despite diatoms everywhere & my shrimp are in heaven. ❤
