What's the point of that room where the door almost touches the windowsill? A wall half way through it. What a waste of space! You'd have to be mental to buy these!
I've purchased through persimmon. Mine will be built December 23. So far so good. I went for 5% deposit contribution. The only thing that you need to take into account with this is that the contribution is taken off after so you pay stamp duty on the price before the reduction. Also agree that the standard offer is very basic. I have ended up spending 18500 on upgrades to get the house I want. However, the minimum value that the mortgage company gave the house was what I paid minus the deposit contribution and including all the upgrades so I think they do still offer good value for money.
Thanks for the video - can I ask where you keep your coats/shoes and also things like vacuum cleaner, mop and bucket, brush etc? Lovely house but seems a bit lacking on storage space?
I know this sounds stupid but my home demo is tomorrow and I took a visit to the house today and noticed its still fenced off, garden, brick wall, and path still isn't completely built and finished... and looked through kitchen window and still is a mess and boxes everywhere. Does everything have to be 100% completed at the home demo?
Just starting the process with the Persimmon, reservation down and sorting out the mortgage, etc. The upgrades definitely need to be a consideration. Especially if you’re at a popular development, like me, where they don’t need to offer incentives. Zero. Ouch. But at least you can make your house to your spec at least. I’m getting a mixture of Persimmon floors and doing it myself.
HI, Thanks for the video, one question I have is regarding the energy bills, is the house as efficient as they claim it to be? what about other bills like council tax, water, Broadband etc.
We pay about 89 electric and 35 gas a month for family of 4 pcm :) council tax is 140 ish a month in our area in the Moseley and broadband 35.. but they have different packages available for that as cheap as 15 pcm I think but not guaranteed a great speed with that one. Water about 250 per quarter ☺️ hope that helps

But I do have 2 toddlers who I have to bath 1/2 times a day on top of mine and my partner having a shower daily too.. and we water the grass and flower bed twice a day so I don’t think we help ourselves! We have meter so it’s all about how much we’re using 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Chloe, did the kitchen have space for a washing machine and a tall fridge freezer or was it just an under the worktop fridge freezer? Also what about dishwasher? Thank you :)
hey! yes there's a space for a washing machine and a tall fridge freezer! dishwasher and / or integrated washing machine are options for finishing touches but that then takes up more of the little cupboard storage space you get! so just opted for our own machine and fridge freezer and left the dishwasher so we had extra storage space xx
Hey I have a question. We have reserved our Persimmon home which is due to be ready in October this year, when did you need to pay the mortgage deposit? Is this at the end when you exchange the contracts or within the 42 days from reservation. Thank you! :)
hey! unsure if its different for each company but we paid deposit once we secured the house (after reservation) and solicitor fees and finishing touches payable at the very end :)
Hi, I have just bought a Moseley house. I am planning to get rid of the dishwasher and shrink the kitchen a bit as we don't use the dishwasher. Do you use the small table across the worktop as a dining table or what do you use as a dining table? Thanks
hey! sorry for the late response - we use it asa breakfast bar to eat at! stools fit lovely underneath! we don't have a dishwasher as we wanted all the storage we could get!!
Recently moved into a Persimmon home and its awful. The build quality is horrendous they used the cheapest materials and labour they can find and slapped the houses together. Multiple problems with my home . The garden has become a swamp because all the builders rubble buried in the ground under the turf , faulty wiring which has led to us not having smoke alarms or c02 alarms , expansion cracks weeks into moving in , a staircase and bannisters that were incorrectly fitted leaving a gap at the top step from floor and a leak in the bathroom which has ruined the ceiling. The fibrenest internet is also very unreliable. Persimmon wouldn't commence any repairs on the house since its rented and housing association who own the house claim the bodge jobs are not thier problem so I stopped paying the rent . At least I can hand the keys back and move out if any further issues occur
Thanks for this unbiased and honest review. We are due to complete on our Clayton in two months and we have had no issues at all with Persimmon at all up to this point. Our finishing touches appointment was great and the staff didn’t push us one bit. I do wonder sometimes if some of the people who moan about snags actually do realise they live in the real world, it’s a heavy building on a new area, it is going to move and settle. Some of the complaints I’ve seen are just pathetic and the trouble is bad news sells, covid-19 is a perfect example of that fact. Your review puts my already relaxed mood into an even more relaxed mood about our build. Thank you.
I agree with you. There is going to be issues unfortunately with anything brand new.. snags happen!! a year and a Half in and they've still been great and returned emails within 24 hours about our 15 month snag touch up etc!!
we have a family of 4 and its a. squeeze lol.. baby wasn't planned when we purchased... id say family of 3 would be the maximum id suggest but perfect for a couple
All indoors taps are included as standard, you get basic taps and can also upgrade them if you wish. The outside taps are not included, we paid £95 for an outdoor tap at the back of the house🚰
Thanks for your video! Did you get the normal white extractor that comes as standard? If so, does it work well? What about the white hob? It is easy to maintain and clean/does it chip?
hey! yeah the fan has worked fab so far! I actually like that you can push it away and can't see it. the hob is great. I just use anti bad wipes to wipe over after ive done dishes each day to keep on top of it! obviously if you're cooking something that splashes it shows very obviously but easy to clean and hasn't chipped at all or marked xx

Yeah I believe the en-suite have an actual shower unit haha! It’s just where you have a bath tub they don’t put a shower in! If you go ahead with it you’ll love your home!! It’s so exciting! X

Basically you can hear people walking around up there if you're on the floor below and we have 2 daughters and we thought we would put them up there so 1) we can hear them haha and 2) we don't wake them up with any banging.. hahaha! no other reason than trying to get our children to stay in bed !!
Dear Chloe, I am also in the process of purchasing a Moseley house. I would like to ask about the bathroom: it seems to be a tiny space in between the toilet and the towel radiator. Does it annoy you? Which width is the radiator? 450 or 600 mm? Thank you for the super useful channel!
450mm smaller one in the bathroom and yes if the radiator is on you have to sit on the toilet wonky otherwise you will burn haha! However, that’ll be the same as if the regular radiator is put in, too! We opted for the towel radiator as it does sit slightly more plush to the wall than a regular radiator (apparently) haha
Hi, can I ask if the garden fencing comes as standard? also what sides of fencing belongs to each neighbour? thank you :-) (thinking of buying a Rufford!)
Heya yes fencing is standard! Thank god haha. So you get one front of fence one side of the garden and the back of fence the other, at least that’s what they’ve done here!
Considering a Moseley, is there any 'loft' space? I know the top floor is the main bedroom but wondered if there was any storage beyond just the single cupboard on the top floor...
Yeah there’s a tiny bit! By tiny I mean that we’ve got our air beds stored up there with our seasonal decorations 🤣 it’s alright though! But yes the storage situation is a bit rubbish to be honest, that’s why we changed our downstairs WC to storage!
