Thanks for this unbiased and honest review. We are due to complete on our Clayton in two months and we have had no issues at all with Persimmon at all up to this point. Our finishing touches appointment was great and the staff didn’t push us one bit. I do wonder sometimes if some of the people who moan about snags actually do realise they live in the real world, it’s a heavy building on a new area, it is going to move and settle. Some of the complaints I’ve seen are just pathetic and the trouble is bad news sells, covid-19 is a perfect example of that fact. Your review puts my already relaxed mood into an even more relaxed mood about our build. Thank you.
I agree with you. There is going to be issues unfortunately with anything brand new.. snags happen!! a year and a Half in and they've still been great and returned emails within 24 hours about our 15 month snag touch up etc!!
I've purchased through persimmon. Mine will be built December 23. So far so good. I went for 5% deposit contribution. The only thing that you need to take into account with this is that the contribution is taken off after so you pay stamp duty on the price before the reduction. Also agree that the standard offer is very basic. I have ended up spending 18500 on upgrades to get the house I want. However, the minimum value that the mortgage company gave the house was what I paid minus the deposit contribution and including all the upgrades so I think they do still offer good value for money.
Recently moved into a Persimmon home and its awful. The build quality is horrendous they used the cheapest materials and labour they can find and slapped the houses together. Multiple problems with my home . The garden has become a swamp because all the builders rubble buried in the ground under the turf , faulty wiring which has led to us not having smoke alarms or c02 alarms , expansion cracks weeks into moving in , a staircase and bannisters that were incorrectly fitted leaving a gap at the top step from floor and a leak in the bathroom which has ruined the ceiling. The fibrenest internet is also very unreliable. Persimmon wouldn't commence any repairs on the house since its rented and housing association who own the house claim the bodge jobs are not thier problem so I stopped paying the rent . At least I can hand the keys back and move out if any further issues occur
Me and my partner are buying with persimmon and we ended up getting flooring and white goods (integrated fridge, dishwasher and washer/dryer) for free! We just asked and they where happy so I definitely agree, just ask for as much as possible 😃 the worst they can say is no 😊 x
@@paigeobrien5085 we just asked if there was any incentives available when we first reserved our plot! We asked if they could give us anything for free. They offered us free flooring and then we asked if they could do they appliances. They had to go back and ask the manager but they came back and said yes. I was probably lucky because we where on the first phase and first people to actually reserve on the site. But I have heard from other people that they usually Chuck things in if you ask x

Hey, cool video thanks. My wife and I have just early birded a plot for a new build. I have a question with regards to upgrades? If we want to get for example £5k worth of upgrades will that be added to the value of the house or do I need to pay for the upgrades via cash? In essence can I add any upgrades to what I will borrow from the mortgage lender or will I need to source the money elsewhere? Thanks in advance.
hey! it was 20% upfront cost the day we chose them, and the rest have to be paid with the solicitor fees once you move in.. so in answer to your question unfortunately they can't be added on the mortgage! but you do have some time to gather the cash until the other 80% needs paying hope this helps :)
just make sure you're happy before you move in! and don't be afraid to say if you're not!! they were super understanding with us and we said about the tiniest of marks or scuffs on the paint for example and they were happy to cover it! xx

We have just bought a house and super worried because of all the negative reviews. The house finishing on the outside isn't the best. But I am more worried about leaky windows. Hopefully we don't have that problem.
Considering a Moseley, is there any 'loft' space? I know the top floor is the main bedroom but wondered if there was any storage beyond just the single cupboard on the top floor...
Yeah there’s a tiny bit! By tiny I mean that we’ve got our air beds stored up there with our seasonal decorations 🤣 it’s alright though! But yes the storage situation is a bit rubbish to be honest, that’s why we changed our downstairs WC to storage!
Hey I have a question. We have reserved our Persimmon home which is due to be ready in October this year, when did you need to pay the mortgage deposit? Is this at the end when you exchange the contracts or within the 42 days from reservation. Thank you! :)
hey! unsure if its different for each company but we paid deposit once we secured the house (after reservation) and solicitor fees and finishing touches payable at the very end :)
Hey, great video! We bought a persimmons home too and was so worried as all i heard was "new builds are rubbish blah blah" but we've had no problems! A few snags as you say but they've been good as gold getting it all sorted!

@@BonnVoyageTravels don’t let the negative videos scare you - obv with every thing there’s going to be negatives but it’s been fine with us! Obv new build snags and cracks but customer care have been pretty efficient 👌🏻 but yeah.. we had no choice either was the only way we would get on the ladder - and it’s been positive :)

@@BonnVoyageTravels they included whole house flooring for us! Just ask !! Say is there any incentive on finishing touches or flooring you could add in for us!! I can’t see them saying no if it’s between you reserving and not! And if they say no then that’s the worst it can be! But everyone I’ve spoke to neighbours friend etc who have a persimmon they’ve been given something! X
Ours is great. We went with the “fastest” package because we had to be guaranteed a speed for work but my next door neighbour has the cheapest option (£14 or something) and it’s just as fast… whether it slows down once all houses are complete I don’t know!
Good luck watch when things go wrong , you'll be going round in circles trying to get things fixed ps after the first year after you get some shrinkage cracks around door s and windows get your own decorator to fix them
@@Wr5379-g2y we’ve already had a few problems but they’ve been great in fixing them to be honest. Yes we’ve been told just to suck it up and do those ourselves hahaha we can expect the shrinkage cracks though! Might give them a chance but we shall see 🤣🤣🤣
Just starting the process with the Persimmon, reservation down and sorting out the mortgage, etc. The upgrades definitely need to be a consideration. Especially if you’re at a popular development, like me, where they don’t need to offer incentives. Zero. Ouch. But at least you can make your house to your spec at least. I’m getting a mixture of Persimmon floors and doing it myself.
