Welcome to Movies & Music w/ AJ! New reaction videos every week!
👦🏻 My name is A.J. and I grew up in a movie and music family. Every weekend we were at the movie theater or the local video store. My parents let me watch and listen to whatever, so I was able to develop wide-ranging, diverse, and mature tastes at an early age. My headphones were full of '70s prog rock to '80s punk to '90s gangsta rap. My screen was lit up with award-winning dramas and campy sci-fi flicks.
📸 I've since worked as an entertainment journalist in Austin, TX, writing film and album reviews. I was also a concert photographer and videographer for a few years in Austin.
🎥 Now, I'm a filmmaker myself! I have written and directed two short films, including my film "Felted" which won a Gold Remi Award at WorldFest Houston. You can watch my films on Vimeo: vimeo.com/ajmiranda
Thanks for reading and subscribing!
P.S. I have room for Scorsese AND Marvel Studios in my heart. ❤️
If you want to hear the psychedelia try Anthem Of The Sun first, and then Aoxomoxoa. After that you maybe be ready to bring out the big guns. Live Dead.
The Boston album came out one year before this movie, and at one point in this movie you can hear More Than A Feeling playing in the background. I think it's at the McDonald's when the city's power goes out. So I think there is a deliberate reference there.
Saw this when I was maybe 14, and I laughed harder than I was physically capable. Didn’t know it was possible for something to be so funny. Blew my mind.
it was the 70's. We didn't have video games and most of us didn't have cable. So we did shit like jumping into a baby crib and break apart a doll. What?
One of the BETTER rock albums ever produced. Definitely in my top 20. They can jam and this album is fierce, just like the cover art. But ABRAXAS is in another league.
21:34 none menicing WTF are kidding dude that shark is massive bigger then any normal shark it's 25 feet and 3 tons that's 3 cars and at least half the size of there boat yet you don't think that's menicing. Wow
barncard here. The hard panning is entirely my fault. The band gave me 100% mixing freedom, a single point of view. I'm a stereo freak, sue me.The drums are not panned to one side, but the acoustics are split hard left and right because their parts are complementary, one strumming, the other picking. Also except for 'Operator' , it was the basic quartet, single drummer.
You are a wise young man. Americans just don't understand that the young generation is always the next group of people who will run the 🌏🌍🌎. Old ideas just won't work for the future of the United States of America. Just like 📺☎️ Model T. Whether you like it or not. Changes will happen
DID U SEE THE WHOLE MOVIE ? CUZ IF U KNEW THAT THE PRIEST AT THE END WAS FRIENDS WITH THE FATHER WHO JUMPED OUT THE WINDOW & HAVING HIS HEAD ALL THE WAY BACKWARDS LIKE BURKE WHO DIED TOO OUT THAT WINDOW.. WISH I CAN TALK TO U PERSONALLY TO MATCH NOTES...
Hey….AJ, what happened to you? I just found your channel, and saw that you haven’t posted for over 2 years???!!! Even your Vimeo does not exist anymore. Where have you gone??
I just realized that in the wide dutch shot you pointed out, the buildings in the background are od Espenard Gardens. A housing project in Harlem. When Ice T is first approached about going after Nino Brown, Ice T mentions that's where Nino and G Money are from
My favorite thing about it is that it can be enjoyed by people who aren’t fans or don’t even know anything about Omar and Cedric. As a Volta fanatic, it was awesome seeing so much of their lives, but it still stands on its own as a great piece of art about deeply intimate friendships and the power they can have in producing beautiful things.
Napoleon was 1.69 m (5' 6'' 1/2''). This was an average height. But the Anglo-Saxons, being filled with a persistent hatred of Napoleon, continue to convey the myth that he was small.
I love this movie! And I read Tom Hanks was hesitant to cast Tom Everett Scott Because he looked a little like him and his name was Tom but thankfully he did I can’t see any one else playing shades ❤. And I loved hearing the story about how you met your wife and does she do reviews with you?
Very interesting commentary! I really enjoyed your analysis of this crazy film. I'm curious, would you say this movie is Kafka-esque? I don't know if I'm way off with that one 🤔
Mulholland Drive is the best film of all time. But Blue Velvet is up there, too. Top 10 for me. His second best. Twin Peaks the Return is the greatest event in television history. I'm being grandiose, yet accurate. Your observations about Lynch are spot on.
