I really want to do more fresh water stuff as i have mostly done just salt all of my life. Is this place any good for a landbased fisherman? and if not, where else could i go? i would love to have a proper crack at the trout too. love to flick lures mostly
@fishermansoffice
@fishermansoffice 11 дней назад
Hey mate this is definitely doable as a landbased spot. Plenty of ppl catch bass straight off the boat ramp pontoons also off the bank either side of the tanjil arm ramp. Access is a little more restrictive landbased but worth a go any day. As for trout I'd suggest heading to Noojee and playing around the rivers in that area, loads of options for trout fishing.

@saltylawaia8958 23 дня назад
Have mine in a 3000 and no click issue. What black handle part ?
@fishermansoffice
@fishermansoffice 23 дня назад
Safe to assume the main black handle that you hold in your hand while using would be what is mentioned here. Furthermore on that. Understanding that it is frustrating to have issues with something you use alot for enjoyment, Manufacturers warranty exists to correct these sorts of issues - no brand or product is immune from issues at times so consulting with your tackle shop usually sorts these niggles out nicely. I had to do similar with one of my previous generation Exceller reels where it had an anti reverse issue - the reel was sent back and repaired at no cost to me 👌 Being a removable handle in this case if your confidence is that shaken from it I'd just buy a quality 3rd party reel handle and do away with the original.

@@fishermansoffice Very well put thanks So many people want to rubbish a model or even a brand because of something that happened to their single rod or reel Especially untralight rods They'll get a majority of 5* reviews, and a few 1* The 1* reviews will go something like "rod tip broke on first fish" That sounds more like mistreatment before sale than manufacturer fault

This reel shares many parts with the Daiwa Ballistic LT. The handle play after a few outings is a little annoying. Though, it's a nice reel with smooth drag and good start-up inertia. I have the 3000D size. I do wonder if Shimano has better offerings at that price point.

I find the TD Black MQ to be a great Reel. Its really smooth and the drag click is nicely pronounced. I got the 3000 and added the Gomexus ball handle, 12lb (20) Tasline on a 10ft surf rod for winter beach fishing. Casts like a dream. I'd actually like to see Daiwa release this model in 8000 and 10000 sizes.

Agree some good tips, well done. You probably don’t need more than 15lb leader, and for your moving baits, I’d try and find a rod that’s got a little bit more play in the top or even mid section. Are there access points for canoe put-ins at the top end of the dam? Cheers 👍

@fishermansoffice
@fishermansoffice 4 месяца назад
Hi mate. It would depend on what species you were planning on targeting with it but would handle braids from as light as 4lb right up to about 16lb to 20lb. So if I was chasing trout or bream with it id more likely use a 4 to 8lb braid. For Australian Bass,estuary perch, Flathead and things like that I usually hover between 8lb and 16lb as my mainline. For light plastics fishing for pinky snapper and things like that between 12lb and 20lb would work fine also.

Why is Daiwa a much more popular fishing reel brand in Australia than Shimano? Maybe there are economic reasons? I am asking the question here in Europe, because in our country Shimano reels are a little more popular because they have a slightly more robust construction and are more durable than Daiwa, in general.I speak from experience because I not only use both brands but also service the fishing reels.
@fishermansoffice
@fishermansoffice 4 месяца назад
Hey mate, Awesome to see comments like this and discussion around quality/popularity etc. I would put it down to the way Daiwa Australia has done its job from a Marketing perspective getting the product out there and flooding social media by use of popular RU-vid creators and the likes of instagram influencer types also. Having said that they do make a quality product so like anything marketing only gets you so far. Shimano though their range is that of a similar volume and quality or arguably better to some opinions, is not marketed nearly as aggressively in this area. Daiwa also seemingly are always trying to come up with something new and sharing it yet I look at shimano and it sort of feels stagnant to me as far as what is being upgraded or changed (not to say that that is actually the case) but if you asked me if I knew what new stuff has been happening with shimano gear I wouldn't know because I never see shimano come up in my feed with what's happening or what they are bringing to the light tackle market.
@achonakin7361
@achonakin7361 4 месяца назад
@@fishermansoffice Hello. I only reacted and asked after seeing the differences. In most Australian videos, Daiwa reels are preferred over Shimano. I just wanted an answer to why. Maybe we don't know the secret. But thank you for your answer!
@watosmate8935
@watosmate8935 4 месяца назад
@@achonakin7361I've always been told shimano for reels over the yrs, not that I've ever tried any but only reason I went with Daiwa was just from looks of what I liked. And I hear Daiwa doesn't do any field testing of the new production line they just chuck it on the market and opposite for shimano, so I'd say that's why from marketing stand point they get more attention .

The 23 Exceler features a new ATD Type-L drag. If you look at the inside of the spool you can notice the grooves where the drag clicker ticks over now has an asymmetrical pattern, this allows the spools to turn more easily. I could feel the easier start up with the 23 Exceler comparing to my 17 Exceler.
