What is your slip ratio for the 5 gallon keg, or do you polish these cars first? Laying those recesses with slip is something I couldnt even dream of right now!
I normally start with the logo and vent as it's one of my alignment points. Before stretching out, I squeegee in another few inches, which is something else you showed me. I will start with the headlight this time and see how it goes. It's black !!! Great.
🤣😂 are you going to tack in the middle around the vent or tack around one headlight and stretch over to the other headlight? Both are good options. When you tack in the middle, you can get distortions around the vent when you stretch away from it. It's a lot of stretching. What color is the corvette?
It's slip solution in the keg with the hose and tac solution in the spray bottle. Sometimes, I put water in the spay bottle as well. Here is a video that goes over my solutions and ratios: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xGjn2rwh-W4.htmlsi=KFlR9jiA3IXrVoUz
@@EncorePPFtint It's me who thanks you, you are a good man no one shares their know-how with such precision I would thank you all my life may the good GOD protect you
I wa5ched a bit of the video to see how often I was saying the. It's quite a bit! I was still learning to talk while I was working. My videos have gotten much better. 👍🏻😁
The order I install is exactly opposite starting at the front , blinker corner, fender/bumper alignment then align A pillar area and stretch down. Have you tried this and if so why did you decide to start at the back of the fender?
Kits are designed to be started in the back and be stretched to the headlight. In CORE, if you find a fender that has the numbered tack points, you'll find that they want you to start by the a pillar. Then stretch down towards the ground, and then towards the headlight. Personally, I've just always done my installs this way. It's easiest to line up the whole fender when you start by the a pillar, IMO. 👍🏻😁
@@EncorePPFtint Thinking about why I start in the front is likely because 25 years ago when I started installing PPF fender installs were only the tips or very limited front portion of the fender. One thing I've learned as an installer for 30 years is always keep learning and be open to trying new techniques. Everyone has something to teach someone.
What brand were you using? It's so true that only the front edges were done! PPF only came in 30" rolls at that largest. Things have changed. I started with 3m and then moved on to VentureShield. I remember having to sell PPF to every customer. Almost no one knew what PPF was! Now, most customers are searching it out.
@@EncorePPFtint I've been tinting since 1990. PPF was late 90's early 2000's. Mostly small stuff making patterns from masking tape. Bulking on a car wasn't much of a thing because film needed to steamed to form. Same films you mention - 3M, Venture Tape/Ventureshield, Clearshield.
I use a professional hair dryer. Works wonders on heat sealing as well as drying the edges. I do this first and then us the same heat gun you have for a final seal.
Do you only use the hair dryer when you are trying to speed up the drying time? If I'm trying to speed things up, I use an air compressor or a battery-operated blower.
Yes, I use it to speedup the drying time. I use to use a air compressor but found the blow dryer using heat works better up here in Wa, especially in the winter.
Hey Brent, thanks again for your excellent content . Did I hear you correctly say 8 mL of seventh generation soap for every gallon? That’s only like a quarter of an ounce. Is that the correct measurement?
Yes. I know that seems like a crazy small amount, but it gets the job done. There is a learning curve to using so little soap. You can start with double that soap and work your way down. Running more tacky, like I do, allows you to move faster and keeps the PPF from slipping all over the place. It also helps minimize the amount of tac solution that you need to use during an installation.
We currently you PremiumShield NextGen. We are switching over to a brand that we will be able to offer to our RU-vid viewers. The switch is going very well. 👍🏻
I really love the extended length tutorials. Very helpful to a new person in the industry such as myself. Just curious what brand of PPF you most commonly work with?
Awesome, I'm glad to hear that! No doubt there are a ton of tips you can pick up on in the videos. As you work more with the PPF you'll pick up on things that you can't absorb until you have more practice. 👍🏻 We have been using PremiumShield NextGen. We are switching over to a new brand that we will be able to sell to viewers. It's a great PPF to work with.
I'm changing your name to Mr. Patience. I get a little wound up when I take too long in one area. PPF installation is not as easy as you make it look. As always, thanks for taking the time to put these tutorials together !
🤣😂 As you know too well.... it does take plenty of patience. I tell my customers that the job takes what it takes time wise. The final product has to meet my expectations. Things definitely get easier with practice, but some cars end up being way more involved than you anticipated. I just did a Toyota Crown. It sucked! There are lots of tedious pieces. Thank you for taking the time to comment on the videos!
Not only are you an amazing teacher/explainer but you got great ppf skills!! Cant stop watching your videos! Would you recommend that after my class next week I go work at a shop to learn?
a human is never able to apply consistent pressure across the length of an edge. Anyone embracing pppf is also signing up for their car paint to be cut up by the installer
