So glad I shot hundreds of rolls from the 1960s to the end. Just took out one of my binders of slides shot in 1990, look like they were shot yesterday. Ditto for family slides from the 1940-50s. There will never be a film like it again.

The project wasn't actually as spontaneous as this video would have you think. The documentary would make you think the trip was like this: -Steve walked out his apartment around NYC looking for photos but could only find one worthwhile. -Steve then gets a spontaneous idea to make a series of portraits where everything is controlled with one picture per person. -Steve then just decides to go to India to photograph Rabari shepherds before moving on to Parsons, KS to develop the film Here's the real story. -Steve scheduled a portrait session with Robert DeNiro and used up the first six frames with three portraits. -Steve then used up frames 7-14 on Indian cultural figures, a sculptor's studio, and a Turkish photographer. -Steve then photographed the Rabari shepherds. -Steve went back through NYC where he took candid pictures of people, a picture of some weird street art, and a self-portrait. -Steve then went to Parsons, KS where he took a picture of his feet in his hotel at 4 am while watching Stephen Colbert. -Steve used the last frame on a statue giving a salute. www.vanityfair.com/culture/photos/2011/02/last-kodachrome-slide-show-201102_old

I had the great opportunity to meet Steve in person at a book signing session in Auckland, New Zealand in 2006. I asked him how to become someone like him. He said never stop photographing and find your niche.

again some of these images are complex, wonderful and just a feast for the eye, allow them to sink in, at least 6 secs per images, 3 secs is like a blink and unworthy of the photo. Thanks and good luck!

Wonderful images for sure! Tip. tone the music down 40% and give the IMAGES more time 5-6 seconds minimum..and less. This could be a visual meditation but is a rush job now. Thanks Steve!

I still want to know why he didn't shoot a portrait of Paul Simon on that roll. After all, Paul Simon did write a song about Kodachrome 64.

I remembered her famous photo, so when I found out about this documentary, I couldn't wait to watch it, but I couldn't watch it because there were no subtitles in Korean, so I got a DVD with Korean subtitles and finally watched it. Your channel is watched by people from many countries and it would be better if you could support subtitles for as many countries as possible.

I hope National Geographic has given money to these people who have helped try to find the girl . The families have a very very difficult life & for the western world to profit aka the magazine itself , they should at least give some food or animals

Obviously every photo was to some extent meticulously vetted but that fact that there's not one bad frame on an entrie roll of film is kind of remarkable, certainly fitting for the last of it's kind too.

I've had this saved to my "Watch Later" playlist now since 2014-2015. Only now, whilst going through and cleaning out that list (which had over 1,100 videos!) do I get to watch and appreciate this gem. Thank you for this wonderful experience of your life. I hope that your life has been full of love and fulfillment since this was originally posted.

Back in the late 1970's....Nikkormat FT2. Any Nikkor lens. Sunny day. Polarizer filter. Hot chick with beautiful skin tone. Kodachrome 25 was my absolute, Absolute. ABSOLUTE hands down winner for wanting guaranteed beautiful, sharp, vibrant color (especially flesh tones) as I saw it through the lens. Printing on Cibachome was absolute killer.
