The principle is the same, KD even said it himself it made it easier for him to make the decision to leave OKC because LeBron paved the way when he left for Miami
Watching CWebb’s reactions to the takes just makes me realize he deserved to be a Champion more than anybody else. As humble and honorable as anybody ever. He wanted to win the right way
The big issue with the signing was that it was the team that had gone 73-9 and had an MVP already. Plus their roster was stacked. Everyone suspected Kevin of leaving OKC but none of us really thought he would join the team that had just beaten him. That was what made the move so weak and bogus.
Aye don’t worry C Webb. I’m apart of this new generation that grew up and witnessed the news of Kd joining GS, breaking out. I was at the gym and everyone on the bball court was talking about it and calling out how bogus it was for Kd to do that 😂
Ppl wants to defend KD by saying he left bc of Westbrook. Man cut it out. Westbrook and the rest of the team were great the first 4 games by leading 3-1. They choked as a team. Both Russ and Kevin did not trust thzeir teammates in games 5, 6 and 7. It was to Coach Donovan to put a system where everybody share the ball. Westbrook is not Jordan. If KD and all the players in the locker room had a great conversation on how they wanted to play, ofc Russ would have change. But they did nothing. KD chose the easy by join the Warriors. Yes he got 2 rings. But even in 50 years, no one would forget his choice by joining Golden State. If it was San Antonio, the story would have not be the same.
These guys flip teams cause that's how they did it in AAU ball. AAU calls kids up to come play with their team to just win a tournament, then he goes back to his normal team. It's normal for these new guys to bounce around. Even the top h.s. teams bring in kids from other states to play for them. I hate it but it needs to start with AAU, as far as some sort of guidelines
They didn’t answer the question. It’s not the fact that he wanted to leave OKC for one reason or another. It’s the team he went to after having them down 3-1 and loosing to them. I don’t care how you slice it… that is a punk move to go join the team you couldn’t beat. You don’t like your current team, fine… leave. You don’t like the city, fine…leave. Just don’t go to the team you couldn’t take off. That’s not competitive it’s cowardly. 8yrs or so later you can still see KD is a mental midget.
KD's legacy would've been better if he joined the Wizards and played with John Wall & Bradley Beal winning a ring for his hometown of DC which was very possible, i can honestly see that team beating the Cavs in the ECF which can go either way but will definitely be a 7 game series, and then extract his revenge against the warriors in the 2017 finals this is a way better script for KD's legacy in my opinion! 🤷🏾♂️
@@ao1461 Of course not that was a bitch move on KD'S part from a competitive standpoint he ruined the parity of the league that's why I said he should've went to DC he wasn't gonna win no title staying in OKC with Westbrook especially after they traded Serge Ibaka to the raptors that 2016 offseason
The worst part was it destroyed the competition for the next 2 years, I watched the Warriors that 73-9 season they were must watch T.V. playing at a whole different speed than the rest of the league, they pushed themselves to get the record then ended up getting dragged into a couple 7 game playoff series and gassed out, but they were still clearly the best team in the league they just need to shoot for more modest win totals like 67 so they stay fresh for the playoffs, so even after they lost I still thought they were the team to beat but knowing the Cavs had found a way made the next season's potential very exciting especially since OKC blew a 3-1 lead to the Warriors so there was that dynamic, even though Golden State had the edge it was still gonna be interesting to see it play out then in one fail swoop the league is flipped upside down and it took 2 years and an Achilles injury to get back to competitiveness, another decision that I think doesn't get talked about enough is Kwahi Leonards decision to leave Toronto for the Clippers, they had all the right pieces, beating the Warriors even with Durant injured was pretty impressive, now it's like Kwahi doesn't even exist anymore
I’m 5 years late but I was a die hard okc fan die hard KD fan I’m not mad that he left it’s the fact u was 1 game away twice from beating that team man and u go join them bruh and just ruin the league it’s just soft bruh he coulda went anywhere but he chose the team that beat em
If KD had joined San Antonio and won a championship or 2 there his legacy would be MUCH much greater, hell I think if he even stayed in OKC and didn't win a singe ring but still was the mvp arguably best player in the league type player for a few more years his legacy would be higher than what it is right now. It's honestly really sad to see that this man left his brother in Russell Westbrook, the city of Oklahoma that loved this man to death, he left them for the team that he was up 3-1 against and HE underperformed in those final 3 games against them, he, the last mvp not named Steph, joined said player on a 73-9 team the best record in league history, he left for the team that beat him and joined his rivals to beat his friends.
Let’s be real if he joined San Antonio it’s still the same thing as joining a rival. The Spurs and Thunder had faced each other in the playoffs more times than the Warriors and Thunder did.
@@chozen3769 doesn’t matter if they beat them that one year and that they were a small market team lol. Both the Warriors and Spurs were championship contenders and they would have been stacked either way with KD. There were going to be fans ticked as well if he joined San Antonio.
@@nickv3740 obviously no shit people are gonna have something to say no matter what you do even if he had stayed in OKC people woulda said what an idiot staying on that team. the point is the spurs would have been by far the best option when it comes to his legacy and chance of winning.
@@chozen3769 best option in chances of winning? No. His best chances of winning clearly were with the Warriors. As far as legacy? Definitely not the Warriors or the Spurs. He also would have been looked at as joining a stacked team because the Spurs had won 67 games without him and had two stars on their team already.
Joining the exact team that beat yo ass 🗑 Talkin shit about the guys you once defended Hypocritical 🗑 Theres 30 other teams to play for If he went and joined the celtics or even the rockets nobody would say shit but okc fans I like him goin to Brooklyn make your own team dont join finals teams or teams that wooped yo ass unless its hometown
One great example would be if Patrick Ewing had joined the bulls after he lost to them in the playoffs he faced the bulls like 5 times and only beat them once when Michael Jordan was playing baseball and Patrick Ewing was top 5 players in the NBA at that time for years
Highkey fuck Isiah Thomas for saying that the league being predictable is a good thing. Worst part is he's said that while Chris Webber was sitting right there
KD could've went to any other team except Lebron's and people would've been ok with that. Everybody pretty much figured he was gonna leave anyway. But the fact that he went to the team that beat him, the team he was up against and should've beat is just disgusting. The warriors should not have been a dynasty. But he got his rings tho.
For everyone who says they hate Durant for cementing Golden State's dominance, I don't see you gushing over the 04 Pistons or even the repeat Rockets. People only give a shit about dynasties when they look back, and Durant is the kind of guy that does not want to be forgotten when he retires.
