Was surfing around listening to gospel music and came upon this video. From a stranger very far away in America, congratulations to you, Richard and Claire. God bless you and give you 25 more years together.
A moving service for someone who will be missed by the many that knew him - but not the evensong I expected. No regrets though. Rest in peace Tommo / Michael.Condolences to Jo and Olivia.Nice homily by his brother.
Listening late in the evening online with a fine glass of Burgundy wine in my hand in my maison secondaire in Southern Burgundy. I can't get closer to Heaven at this point in my earthly existence.. Thanks again for a well sung Evensong- Continued excellence in music from Lincoln Cathedral!
Missed it Sunday. Gratefull that I can listen Monday - a day later. lovely sound. A well sung evensong i- which is consistently so at Lincoln -is a salving ointment for the soul.- Keep up the good work - Psallite sapienter!
Lincoln ievensongs are a beacon of how an Anglican evensong should be sung - quality performance, well chosen music and excellence in rendition of both clergy and musicians. I am a faithful listener online - now from my maison secondaire in southern Burgundy. Keep up the good work: Psallite sapienter!
Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace, good will toward men. We praise Thee, we bless Thee, we worship Thee, we glorify Thee, we give thanks to Thee for Thy great glory: O Lord God, heavenly King; God the Father Almighty. O Lord, the only begotten Son, Jesus Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father: That takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us. For Thou only art holy; Thou only art the Lord; Thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art the most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
One moment please, while I check a small detail...... There was a young lady from Chicester Whose curves made the saints in their niches stir One morning at Matins The heave of her satins Made the Bishop of Chichesters britches stir. ......ahh yes, just one " t ".
We’ve been enthroning Bishops since 600 AD at least. The first Archbishop of Canterbury and all of his assistants were “enthroned” according to Bede - if it was good enough for the first generation of the church it’s good enough for now - and after so so long we have a duty to treasure our heritage. This is the stuff that makes up our national heritage and culture if nothing else
The cathedra, or bishop's throne, is the symbol of a bishop's authority to teach and govern in his diocese, a ministry exercised in service and charity to the faithful.
This old heap needs a decent set of reeds on the pedal division not to mention mixture work on Swell and Great. To quote Dr.Philip Marshall...An overblown harmonium !
Lovely video - really interesting content and captions perfectly timed - but I think you may have made a mistake (for me at least) with that psychopathic metronome...😉
