Lincoln Cathedral | Wren Library Repairs 2023 

You may have noticed that the Lincoln Cathedral Libraries have been closed since Summer 2022 and the books were removed by December of the same year. We have had to do this to safeguard our visitors, staff and volunteers as well as our collection of historic books.
The 17th century Wren Library was designed by the great Christopher Wren and in 1982, work was undertaken to reroof the library. Some of the modifications, undertaken on the roof trusses, have exacerbated problems in the major structural timbers. This video shows the extent of the cracking and failure to the ceiling.
