Hey there Chris, wondering if you ventured downstream past the niobrara confluence and up towards Springfield? Was navigating up and down the river difficult? Will be up there in Sept. and I've never been on the river through there and curious how careful I'll have to be to navigate the channels and not run aground. I assume your running Lakemaster, how accurate are the channel locations on that mapping?
I did not venture past the Niobrara, I’ve tried one other time and couldn’t find the channel. I have the most up to date Lakemaster and it might be 50% accurate, you definitely cannot trust it. I went from Verdel Landing down to the Niobrara confluence. I might go over and launch at Springfield this weekend. I would be very careful if I were you. What you got for a boat?
@@MidwestBassHunter I run a Ranger z521 and we’ll be launching from Springfield. I was really hoping to run upstream to Verdel. I know there is a channel that will get you there but without correct mapping or updated satellite imaging, it’d be risky and time consuming. Have you fished around Springfield out to Lewis and Clark?
I have fished L&C but not the river between Niobrara and the west end of the lake. I might run up this weekend and launch at L&C and make my way to Springfield. I have a tournament there in October and I need to learn my way up the chutes.
@MidwestBassHunter early morning we fish up the cove with a spinnerbait in the trees and wherever water was running in , lots of bait fish. Then we start at trees near mouth of boardman and fished plastic worms on the bottom, clear water nothing bigger than a 6 inch worm. When the water level drops those fish leave the vegetation and move to the brush for cover. Hope that helps next time.

I like the painted blades you can get on the Evo chatterbaits. I always change out the snaps on non-Jackhammers to Decoy egg snaps, as that is what the Jackhammers come with. Tungsten Evo is being released at iCast!
@@MidwestBassHunter I don't have a problem with the snaps, I've just had several of them pop loose while fishing. I end up bending the clip a little extra so they don't come loose again.
Nice! I am addicted to gathering tackle, too. I have giant storage bins full of bags of plastics. I probably only use 15% of the types of baits I have. It's fun collecting, though. Thanks for sharing.
I bet! I’ve got a bunch of other videos on the river chain but all upstream from Gavin’s Point Dam. I fish Lewis & Clark and Francis Case several times a year. In fact I’m going to Francis tomorrow and L&C on Saturday.
Oh yeah, them Walter’s are good down there. Years ago when I was a 5th grader my dad and I were jigging for eyes down there and I caught a 5 foot paddlefish. Pretty cool memory.
Yeah, I’ve got Nebraska covered 🤣 I did fish a couple days in Oklahoma earlier this year but the footage was kinda full of cussing from me and my buddies so I may not make a video of it…
Loved the video. I'm in central Iowa and really enjoy getting up to Okaboji each year. Was that a JBro's Jester lure you were punching with? Might be similar to it. They make great baits. I kill on Brushy Creek with their sentinal Tube.
