I love Karnivool. Kinda sad that we can only hear the high pitched "All it takes you" part twice. It's my favourite part of the song! It tickles all the right spots for me.
The riffs have sub riffs. Check out Emptyself music if you love these guys. Someone mentioned Porcupine Tree. Thanks for that😊 This is almost symphonic classical layering.
I found out about this band a few years ago, (due to unfortunate circumstances revolving around Rick Beato's copyright strikes), but he said this band was one of the most important ones of this decade. I trusted him and gave this band a try, but... I was still a little strict with my attempt. Normally, bands I try start off really good and go in undesirable directions in their later material, so I skipped to the chase and gave this band the ultimate test; I started by listening to their newest song first. Safe to say, this band passed with flying colors. From their newest release, and then from the beginning and onward, every Karnivool song slapped.
Took me years after I've hear this song for the very first time to come and say thank you, Karnivool if you read, you have no Idea how this song changed my life. I'm looking forward to see you guys live!!! 🔥❤
Wow! I was looking for an old project of Sleep Token called Umbra and it brought me here! What is this gen that I have discovered in the annals of you tube?
1st time I heard this was on a DVD featuring some of the best songs and their music videos that made it onto triple j' s hottest 100 back in 2010. We're now here in 2024. Moral of the story, good music never dies
I've just come back to this video for the first time in a while. It's got me thinking about its meaning through a new lens. While I am not religious per se, I have spiritual beliefs. There are quite a few spiritual/religious references in Asymmetry song titles. For example, Aeons is (as I understand it) a Gnostic idea regarding the fixed passage of time associated with a star sign e.g. "the age of Aquarius" for which there is an associated spiritual deity. Alpha and Om presumably refers to Alpha and Omega which is a name for Christ and God in the bible. Eidolon is a spiritual vision of someone passed. On this basis, I'm wondering if this song is about the idea of Rapture, i.e. at some point the good people will be purged off this plane just leaving the bad and unenlightened to endure earth. The girls are dressed in white presumably as a symbol of good (and hence disappear at the end). The tv coverage represents the lies and fear perpetuated by the media. Ian's lyrics speak of our loss of humanity and connection to spirit and we basically await our rebirth (reset it all). It's actually a deeply prophetic song given what has occurred over the last few years (it being released 10 years ago).
I was in my late 20s. I'd decided to see just how far I could make it on a pushbike, hugging local train lines as much as I could. This song and the album itself gave my adventure a life-defining memory as I ventured through 8ft high weeds and crossing creeks just to go. Go anywhere. I love you guys.
Nationalism vs Aotearoa. Fascism no vision or Kupes daughter being free. Old men with their novels and videos wearing their virus crown vs secure all public sector jobs and then letting the spirit of Matthew enjoy the royal ground.
