Watercolour landscapes, buildings, trees, and seascapes are all covered in my step by step watercolor videos demonstrations. Patrick Ley-Greaves is an experienced watercolour artist and tutor, he will help you overcome basic and more advanced problems in watercolour painting.
My channel looks at how to paint landscapes, seascapes, boats and buildings. We take a look at artists materials that are needed to paint successfully and how to develop a relaxed attitude to painting that will help you succeed in becoming an artist. I look forward to you joining me on this never ending journey!!
When mailing someone one of my handpainted cards I always apply cold wax to it so it won't be destroyed if it should happen to get wet in transit. I was thinking of applying a thin film of wax by ironing a piece of waxed paper over them to seal them. I imafine that would do just the same and be much less expensive. Any thoughts? Do you wax yours?
Patrick was kind to help me six years ago. He was a great teacher. Thank you for your lesson. I was a bad student. I still struggle with painting landscapes. Patrick had some very talented students or subscribers. I was in awe of many of them. My photo reference was of Mount Sneffels in the Colorado San Juan mountain range. The photographer was the skilled Adam Schallau. I believe Patrick moved his channel to oil painting. I hope he is doing well. I love these Fall aspens. I wish I could do them justice with my watercolors. Alright, I need to give this painting another go...
My honest opinion - your painting is absolutely Gorgeous!! I love it! I would like to get lost in this picture for a few hours... I'd have this on my lounge wall if you offered!! Completely beautiful and right up my street! Thank you! Subscibed to your great channel! Love, Mel in Devon 🍰🌻
I frequently struggle with the "when to stop" ...but the detailing, particularly with eyes, can really make the personality shine through. And when it's right it draws you in. It's a beautiful portrait. Thank you for sharing.
I've probably seen this video 8 to 10 times over the years and it still gives me immense pleasure watching you paint Patrick. Your painting channel is sorely missed.
Are you selling all rights in the artwork?? Including the buyer's right to reproduce and sell unlimited copies?? Might want to check if you're automatically protected by copyright law, or need to say something more, or don't care. Otherwise your artwork might go commercial at some greeting card company without any compensation to you, the original artist.
We have all missed you Patrick hope your holiday was fun and productive. please could you tell me what software you use to upload your videos ,as I am thinking of joining RU-vid , but haven't a clue how I go about it.
I love this video, i hope you had a great holiday, & i will look for your new videos, when we go out i always take photos but rarely have any success in recreating them in paintings , thank you , i have painted alone with you. ❤❤❤❤❤
I need to try the general outline method. I think it will help me. Your trip sounds great. Hope you and yours have a great weekend too. My husband went out for golf today, they have a lot of fun.
Looking forward to getting away. We just need the weather to be a little dryer. Such a wet winter. Our local river (River Severn) has burst its banks numerous times this year! I used to play golf years ago, my favourite hole was the 19th! May well get back into it when I retire. I Hope he had a good round.
Think you made the drawing method look like like old Etcher Sketcher, if you can remember that toy. Much harder to an outline like that. Not many could do it. I prefer the rough shape sketch, and paint the detail way. Still enjoyable if you can get it right first time.
Oh yes I remember the Etcher Sketcher they were great fun. Absolutely understand what you’re saying regarding sketching. Outlining often helps me forget the complexity of what I’m drawing that’s why it works for me. But not always.
Actually lifting out the highlight in the eye looks more natural than a stark white highlight because just the hint of color left gives more depth. Imo.❤
Language smanguage. Pooey on those that policed your speech. I wonder if they actually paint or just watch others because I know very few artists that don't get frustrated and throw a fit. It's real life. Thank for sharing your knowledge!
Your more than welcome. I hope it’s of some help. I don’t often get viewers from Australia, what a fantastic country to live and paint. Hopefully one-day I’ll make the trip. All the best.
