Nothing against Xero at all--I'm actually a Xero affiliate and really like the company. However, as far as MY taste, style-wise this one looks way better to me. And as far as fit, this is nearly a full centimeter wider than Xero. I can't even fit into Xero Shoes anymore, personally.

Nice looking boot. I don't like foam, even a tiny bit, but otherwise it seems to be on point. I'm in about a dozen pair of barefoot shoes and boots and my Jim Greens are still my favorite. Super, super high volume, which I need with my massive instep. But these ones here look way dressier. Any chance you can yank that foam out?

@barefootshoejosh 6 дней назад
Yes I like Jim Green boots for a work boot situation, heavy duty stuff, etc. They don't do affiliate stuff, and I don't really do the kind of work that would call for me to have a pair, so I haven't tried them. In regard to your question on ripping the cellfit foam insole out, I have to be honest with you--I don't know. I'm not one to try it and potentially ruin my boots. You might know more about shoes and feel comfortable doing that, and it might work great--I just don't know. They're super comfy the way they are, but I also appreciate that some people have a strong preference for certain materials. If you try it, let me know how it works out! Thanks for commenting. Of course you can rock some of these classic white socks. Glad you made this. I have been looking at these online. I just bought whitin high tops that actually arrived today! I wear a 9 1/2 or a 42. Their 9 1/2 are 43 apparently so they feel a hair too big, but not bad. If i buy these, i may get the 8 1/2 (42) because they don't sell a standard 9. Great review!

Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Please use my affiliate link in the video description if you end up getting some. If you're new to barefoot shoes, they may feel large at first (as compared to conventional shoes); but you will probably find that your feet spread out and find the freedom they've been craving all along! So maybe wear those 9.5 for awhile before you decide to go smaller. But if you've been wearing barefoot shoes for awhile, and you know the 9.5 is too big, then I'd say go for a smaller size. To each their own though! Do your thing!
@jeremebonesaw
@jeremebonesaw 9 дней назад
@barefootshoejosh yeah. I put them side by side to my other shoes like my 9 1/2 lems primal zen and they definitely are a hair big. I will leave the insole they came with in as it seems to fit better. However, these 43s on the whitins also seem to be the same size as my feel grounds patrol lite boots which read 42 so there's that haha. Great shie either way. Very roomy. Whitin also lists their 8 1/2 as a 42 so there's that. I just kind of took a chance on the 9 1/2 (43) since the sizing chart jumped so much and was unsure. Still very cozy and impressive for the price.

"Weatherproofing is advised for boots frequently exposed to snowy or rainy conditions." - Origo website. The tongues are not gusseted. The tongue starts right near the bottom lace holes. In my opinion, it's not really designed as a hardcore winter/waterproof boot. It's a stylish leather boot that is lightweight, minimalist, and is best suited for casual or semi-dress style in milder conditions.

Thinking of trying these. How do you switch from traditional shoes to these? Should I start with a few hours per day?
@barefootshoejosh
@barefootshoejosh 23 дня назад
@barefootshoejosh 0 seconds ago Transitioning to barefoot shoes is different for everyone. I started and that was that. I had no discomfort or anything. Quite the contrary, I couldn't believe that this is the kind of space my feet should have had all along. I began replacing all of my shoes with barefoot shoes, and I've been wearing them exclusively for about 12 years now. Some people need to transition more gradually. And this pair of shoes in particular is even less dramatic of a transition because the soles are pretty thick at 22mm. But yes, doing a few hours a day at first wouldn't hurt, then increase it a bit more as you continue on. You'll be rebuilding the strength in your arches that has atrophied over years of wearing arch support. That process happens differently for everyone; but doing in a way that feels best for you is what counts.

This is a casual, super comfy, stylish, thin-soled everyday boot... but if your "every day" consists of hard/dirty outdoor work, then the Jim Green is a tough, durable work boot--not really a comfy/casual boot that would be more suited for that kind of work day. Work boots have their place, as do comfy casual boots, but really two different worlds--which are you looking for? They seem to be pretty true to size; but what are your foot length & width measurements? You should trace your foot (while putting your weight on it), then measure the width and length on the tracing so you know your measurements. Then, look at the sizing chart for the boots, and pick the size that gives you somewhere between 8-15mm extra space in the length. That's my two cents anyway.

Ive had several pairs of Vivobarefoot shoes, including some within their Primus lineup. Im my experience with the lite and knit models(comparable to the Airhas models), the cost imo is rather unjustifiable. Ive had either pairs just completely wear down and apart surprisingly quickly at the sole and parts of the upper with mild to moderate walks n runs. The knit fairs better but are oddly narrow compared to the non knit counterpart. For near 200 USD, my sentiment is that the asking price is just ludicrous, based of course on my experience with them. But these Airhas models at a fraction of cost and similar styling are very promising and have held up just as well if not better than my primus models. I will say that the Primus trail knit FG models are some of the most versatile shoes Ive ever owned and have taken an absurd beating over the years and imo well worth the cost. Idk maybe I got a couple bad Primus pairs in the past tho but I am excited for more of what Airhas has to come

Going off of the sizing on their website, did you go with the size 11 (euro 44) just because of the 11cm width? Seems like they’d be way too long for you. At 27 long you’d have like 2 full cm of room at the toe right?

Good question. The marketing person at Atlantis just emailed me and was like "Hey do you want to review our boat shoes? Do you want to do the size 11 (EU 44) like you did in our other shoes?" So I said yes without taking another look at their sizing chart. If I had looked at the chart, I would have probably ordered a 43; but then again, going from 10.7 cm width to 11cm width might make me choose the 44, and that may be how I originally selected the 44 when I first started reviewing their shoes. But i live all my life with extremely wide feet 🦶 so i am just use to it now . How are you doing man? Josh I have a question ? Do you work from home ? This was a good video man. I enjoy watching your videos man so don't think they are bad because they are not . We have wide to extremely wide feet 🦶 & you are just saying what works for your feet 🦶 & what don't . Keep up the good video buddy .

Thanks for watching, Mack! I still have another review coming up soon with some shoes that might work on your feet, but some other videos have priority right now. You should trace your feet on a piece of paper, then measure the length and width and tell me what your measurements are. Let me know. Oh, and yes, I work from home.

Does the part of the strap on the bottom of the sole that makes contact with the ground doesn't make it uncomfortable? Won't the ground wear right through the strap?
@barefootshoejosh
@barefootshoejosh Месяц назад
Great questions, and both common ones. I had these same questions back when I started wearing barefoot sandals. No it's not uncomfortable under the sole (you don't feel it at all); and no, it doesn't wear out with normal use. I have a couple of pairs I've owned for YEARS and the strap is still not even close to being worn out. It's surprising maybe, but pretty awesome.

Hi this is weird but I typed a long response to your question a couple of days ago and now it's not here--so it must not have saved or something, my apologies. OK so it looks to me like the Impala is essentially the Ibex, except with a waterproof membrane. And the Ibex is the leather version of the Tundra, which I did review here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FQs2rYDbhF0.html If you end up getting something, please use my affiliate link: bit.ly/joshfreet and use my discount code JOSH10 to get 10% OFF! Yes in the best of all possible worlds, I would come back and do reviews later, like after wearing them 6 months or a year.. but then it would be old information, new shoe models come out, etc.. I feel you. Plus, I do have a normal full time job, kids/family, and a lot on my plate, so I'm doing the best I can to do them when I receive the shoes and trying to provide reviews of somewhat current stuff. As it is right now, I have like 7 or 8 new pairs of shoes ready to review so I'm way behind. Thanks for the comments though. I've never head of JOA or Ohne Project shoes.. shoot me some links when you have a moment, or I'll try to remember to look them up.

Hey dude , I heard these fit a bit smaller due to the membrain waterpoof lining. Would you recommend a sizing up?
@henrydavis229
@henrydavis229 Месяц назад
Just to add context , I wear 45 in Vivos (UK11) however I've felt that the heel section is often too tight on Vivos. The 45 in Vivos leaves me a thumbs width space in the front however after reading reviews on the real foot website, people said this model fits a little bit more snug compared to the real foot farmers shoe due to the membrane. So I'm contemplating 46s ...
@barefootshoejosh
@barefootshoejosh Месяц назад
@@henrydavis229 If you're still wearing Vivobarefoot--which are at the narrower end of the barefoot shoe width spectrum--you should probably stick with your usual size for Realfoot. I don't even wear Vivos anymore due to the width of my foot. I typically wear 44 or 45 in most barefoot shoes. For these Realfoot Highlanders, I got a 44 and they are just great. There might be the slightest difference between these and the Farmers--I don't own any of the Farmers so I couldn't say for sure--but my guess is that for you, you should just order your normal size. Measure your feet, and check Realfoot's sizing chart. Try to leave yourself some extra length.. in the case of a winter boot like this, I'd say shoot for 1.2-1.6 cm extra length. That's my two cents. If you end up getting anything, please use my affiliate link: bit.ly/joshrealfoot .. Thanks in advance!

@@barefootshoejosh okay sure mate thankyou . The reason I'm looking to buy these is actually the situation you're in - my feet are just too wide for Vivos now. I started my barefoot transition 6 months ago and since, I've discovered Vivos are so narrow! The magna forest esc and tracker forests crushed my big toe. I could get away with the fg2 lows as they were quite baggy all round however still not enough toe room! What other makes do you recommend for hiking shoes? I hike in all weathers up rocky, muddy mountains. I'm also an ecologist so I'm out in all terrains , all year round. I like the look of the highlanders however I wish they had a bigger tread... I'm open to buying both summer and winter hiking shoes, they don't have to be an all rounder. Thanks for your reply :)

I wouldn't size down. Find the one that fits your width, and gives you maybe 7-15mm extra length. Tighten the laces. If that doesn't work, there are some narrower brands out there that might help with fitting your volume, but I don't know enough about your feet to know.

Earth Runners sandals - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nQgCGes5VOc.html Besides the sandals being grounded, Earth Runners also sells Ionsync grounding plugs on their website, which you can put into almost any shoe, making them grounded. Must be comfortable doing DIY stuff though, and I've never personally tried this. Atlantis Handmade.. Loafers - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uSzH5yi1IGs.html Sneakers - studio.ru-vid.comQLbNknk89OQ/edit NOTE: only the Loafers or "Sneakers" I've reviewed are grounded, NOT the chelsea boots or deck shoes which I've also reviewed. They do, however, also have some lace-up oxfords that are grounded, and maybe some others. Also, there is the company Earthing Moccasins. @barefootshoejosh
@barefootshoejosh Месяц назад
@@TC1Z2L3 interesting. They're 10.7cm wide (in my size), which is fairly high on the width spectrum, but yes they didn't shape the toe box for full splay. Very few companies do, even barefoot shoe companies, due to trying to avoid the "clown shoe" look. Most companies are trying to balance foot health with also wanting people to like and buy their shoes. I think that's the reality. It also depends on the shape of your foot. For instance, my feet are mountain shaped, so even when splayed, these fit me OK because that's the shape of my foot. Whereas someone with pizza-shaped feet or with a hard slope might not get full splay.
