Hello my fellow sword enthusiasts. I have created this channel to express my passion for something that I have been around for over 30 years ... SWORDS!! The purpose of this channel is for me to share with you what I have learned about the swords I buy and thus have an interest in. I try my best to give a consensus of opinions on each of these models if possible. When I get ready to do these reviews I first look to see if others have posted footage of that particular model being used and their thoughts on it. If possible I will include that footage in my videos. WARNING!! My videos are not short. Next, I add in a comprehensive experience of my own with this model including the following: unboxing, initial reasons for getting it, cutting, and a overall impression. What qualifies me to do this? ... my passion for swords and experience with both Japanese and European martial arts ... although I make no claims of expertise in these arts. I'm simply a guy who loves swords.
Just ordered this blade. My one concern is the item description. How long is that handle? That doesn’t look like a 6 3/4 long handle? A 6 3/4 in handle would seem more of a hand and half sword? My ds viking sword handle is almost 5 in.
Hi here in Italy it is impossible to find an Albion Alexandria!!! Can you help me? It would be fine even second hand or with some small defects. Thanks for your help... On the official Albion website they don't say how long you have to wait for the order to be finished and paid for... so I don't trust it. Help!!!!! See you soon…
I ordered this sword about 7 or 8 years ago and it was terrible. It was rattling around in the scabbard like an old tractor and fall/slide right out of it at a ~30°+ angle. The Fuller was not the same length as shown on the website but only two thirds of the blade's length. On one side the fuller was longer than on the other side. The upper third of the blade was bent to the right. The blade also wasn't getting much thinner near the tip but stayed almost as broad as near the guard. There were epoxy stains on the blade near the guard and on the leathergrip. There was also epoxy looming out of the gap between guard and blade. Scratches all over. Bad sharpening job (like really bad). Their "costumer support" was just saying that this was normal because their swords being "hand-made". Since I live in Europe I did not send it back (very high shipping costs and I had already paid customs) and instead had it "repaired" a bit at a local craftsman (lessen bent in the blade, remove epoxy, and a scratches). I have not ordered from DSA ever again (and I had planned to order at least one more sword and a dagger). I was extremely disappointed. I had bought this sword to have a latin saying etched into the fuller and put it on display in a standing vitrine in my office - well I did not put it in there obvsly. The 270 bucks china sword I bought around the same time for practicing (ordered it with two blades (+120) one sharp and one dull for sparring) was of better quality(except the leather on the grip) and performs nicely to this day. I can't believe to see this sword in your hands looking that great. I would have loved to get one like you did.
Sorry to be negative, but your background music makes it hard to understand you. (In my case, severe hearing loss both ears) Otherwise, love the reviews.
I almost purchased the cold steel Warrior katana. Comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the master swordsman that forged it by hand. Don't get me wrong Cold steel makes pretty good products but something told me to stay away, I could print a certificate of authenticity. I'm glad I stayed away and ordered a truly hand Forged t10 spring steel katana with a real hamon, it's razor blade Sharp and all the fittings are tight. Unfortunately at 6:15 the hamon on that sword without a doubt looks like it was applied with a wire brush. They basically put a steel stencil over the blade and create the fake Hamon with a wire brush rotary tool.
Could you turn the music up a little more please? I was almost able to hear the info I was seeking. Geesh this was hard to set through. Like trying to carry on a conversation in the front row at an 80s heavy metal concert, except without cool music. Like the never end music and credits rolling at the end of a star wars movie.
Thank you for being open & inclusive with other enthusiasts channels. In my humble opinion it makes RU-vid (in general) more a community & makes for a better experience. I watch RU-vid for entertainment of course, but essentially for information, to learn.
Your channel stands as a paragon of undervalued excellence within the RU-vid community. Each review you present is meticulously crafted, showcasing an unparalleled depth of analysis and an unwavering commitment to impartiality. This is in stark contrast to certain other content creators, who seem predisposed to levy criticism against entities like Dark Sword Armory with a fervor that borders on the prejudicial. It appears that their critique is less about the quality of the craftsmanship and more about the brand associated with the product. Were an Albion sword to mistakenly feature a Dark Sword logo, one can't help but speculate that it too would fall victim to their biased scrutiny. Your approach, however, transcends such partiality, offering your audience insights that are both enlightening and devoid of undue prejudice. I applaud you sir! 👏
I have some ideas for such a video presentation to improve it. While watching it again, i found that especially the close up video footage but also the other stuff is much too good to have this big text overlay on top. It would be nicer to watch it without the text overlaying the whole picture. In addition, we can't appreciate the sword fully and read the text at the same time. So better put the text smaller and down to the bottom like classic captions of videos and movies. So one could enjoy the pictures fully and stop the video to read the text. Or put the text into an extra scene, white letters on black background or vice versa and then line up the text only parts with video only parts. Or put the text into a text to speech converter/AI voice and put the artificial voice over the picture.
I’ve had mine for about that long only it’s slightly upgraded with real ray skin & mine has the blood groove. A blacksmith friend of mine recently sharpened it for me and he said it is a very well made sword. Definitely real folded high quality steel. He used the Japanese word for folded steel but I forget how to spell it! Lol! I believe mine was in the 400 to 500 range at the time.
You have the only review of a Skyjiro with a bohi. This has been very useful to share to people interested in a Skyjiro with bohi. It's helped me sell a few.
Mine came as dull as a butter knife and took me 3 months to sharpen. The saya was damaged, but fortunately, it was something I could repair. Sharpening the blade left many scratches on the sides of the blade that would take a very long time to polish out.
@@rybakarol Apparently CS doesn't care because shipping dull swords is still going on under it's new ownership. I never bought another CS sword after that.
I would like to share my Swords of Northshire experience. I actually ordered a completely customized shikmizue. Truly custom made. I requested a 36" overall length, Ebony wood for the saya, a 24" 1095 carbon steel blade, shiny sharp, and brass end pieces for the top and bottom. It costs me just over $600 and what a great blade! The entire piece looks like an everyday walking stick, but inside a deadly straight katana. Almost no rattle when sheathed, good fit yet a quick draw, and the blade is perfect. Kudos to Swords of Northshire for a great job. You can't go wrong with Swords of Northshire.
