The thing about the P-47 in War Thunder is that the game’s meta does not play to the P-47’s strengths (good high-speed maneuverability, exceptional dive speed and acceleration, very strong energy retention, high top speed at high altitudes), but instead to its weaknesses (poor low-speed acceleration, very poor low to medium-speed maneuverability, poor climb rate). Really for the P-47 to be at its most effective, it needs to start with an altitude advantage over its opponents and use boom-and-zoom tactics-like how it did in real life due to its role as a bomber escort. Really what War Thunder needs is more varied battle scenarios, including air spawns for the P-47 and even custom battles where both sides can start the battle at over 10 km altitude (this would also allow things like the implementation of GM-1 nitrous oxide on the Ta 152 and the addition of the Bf 109G-1/G-3/G-5-which have cockpit pressurization and can be equipped with GM-1).
Hot take, I think, yak 3’s arms are better. I’d rather have 2 12.7s and a 20mm than a single 12’7 and a dinky autocannon that fires too slow to be useful against fighters and too innacurate to be useful against bombers. Not to mention it Jams after a whopping 5 shots

I setup three buttons for my guns. I had my main guns which I spammed like crazy until I ran out of ammo, and I had another button for my gunpod as my reserve. I had a third button setup that would fire both at once if I needed to yeet in a headon.
This thing is too fragile for attacking bombers and runs out of ammo easily, but is a beast in dogfights!! If they have more energy just build up speed in a shallow dive to 500 / 550 and reverse their attack. All other cases, dogfight and use the vertical.
