Nope. Both those planes used the M2 variant, which by late war got 768rpm. This thing has the M3 model, and accounting for the lesser accuracy of the following arrangement, I imagine that it’d be comparable to an entire finger four wing of F-86F Sabre’s all firing on a single target.
Fun fact, the twin mustang only shares a few parts with the P-51 (less then 10) and was build almost completely from scratch outside of having it look like two mustangs
Its nice once in a while to go ground pounding with the gun pod, so you can destroy light pillboxes using one set of guns at a time, so you have double the ammo.
1:30: Yeah about that, I'm not sure if it was in the patch notes, but those M3s are now M2s. The Gunpod is still M3s, but the 6 in the wing aren't anymore...thanks Gaijin. Why did they change that?
Honestly I think this thing needs to move up in BR but with an equivalent drop in repair cost. I feel like it’s the sort of plane that would do about as well against early jets as against late props
On Accident... apparently the pilot realized that he wasn't going to be able to slow down the aircraft during its FAA testing for high-speed taxi so he pushed it and flew for 5 minutes instead of risking a bad landing.
@@JonManProductions True, but it was a first flight nonetheless! Even though it was an accident, the plane is basically airworthy. Within a year, she'll start appearing at airshows, possibly at Oshkosh. Considering it is one of only five surviving F-82s, I'm pretty excited.
@@JonManProductions Just an update on this comment. The XP-82 did its first "Official" test flight today! If you are interested, here is the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wEJwLcj6qEU.html
@@vanataaa9349 Let's press F to all the planes supposed to be at Oshkosh this year... On the bright side, she made a heck of an appearance at Oshkosh last year! And she will surely be at Oshkosh next year.
Ah yes, the F-82 Laser Pointer, aka the plane I try to take out immediately provided it isn't somehow several thousand meters above me, who is at 6000 meters in a 109
Quality JonMan content, exceeding expectations. I love it! Also, question.. Do you need to only fly in straight lines like the P47 orrrrr? Also, you just earned yourself a sub. :)
CaptainConcerned Sr. The PBJs are much larger, have a lower top speed, are less maneuverable, worse at altitude, have the non-upgraded MGs, and climb slower. Of course the BR is 1 lower and they get bombs and defensive guns, but it's not a pure freedom machine like the F-82.
I like to think this plane was the result of a prank. Two pilots are waiting for their next sortie and they come out to see the grease monkeys glued their planes together
Willis 1945 Yes it was used as an all weather intercepted since no jet at that time could do that, it also had the first kill in Korea even though it was designed for WW2 escort.
