Yeah back in highschool a friend of mine had the '79 SS/396BB with a B&M gateshifter tranny,411rear end and I used to take him off the line in my '77 nova/'64 327/339 hp vette SB,M22 rockcrusher speed but by 2nd gear he would smoke that rubber and myself as well lol...good times...that is a clean and mean build my friend!
The only thing I don't like is the square signal lights beside the rounded headlights. And the bumpers stick out too far. But very nice to Malibu. Same as my mine. Yukon Territory Canada
Even though time has passed since this was initially uploaded & "My Ol' Lady" is an '81, you could have HAD my radio for free. It's on the rear shelf in the garage...
These chevelles look so darn bland compared to the Grand Am of the same year and platform. Its so weird the Grand Am didn't do better. It was supposed to replace the GTO and that just didn't happen. Cutlass and Regal ended up being the most Classic Muscle looking cars in the 80s with the others going the sporty direction
I had a 78 that I bought new, came with a 305 4 speed. When it was a year and 1/2 old I dropped a 350 4 bolt main w/650 holley carb. Saganoh 4 speed only lasted 3 weeks, then put in a Borg Warner super T-10 and Hurst competition plus shifter. It was a great little sleeper. Oh to be young again.
@@bruceh92 No. There were no overdrive autos at that time; they were still using 3-speed boxes. If you got an automatic, it was a Turbo-Hydramatic 350. The car could be factory-equipped with either a 3- or 4-speed manual box. I think you could only get the four-speed manual in the Malibu Classic (I could be misremembering that, though). I had a new '78 Classic, albeit with the autobox.
Little chilly out??? Wtf that's when they run the best...got a feeling that car is a garage queen.its a shame that car should be driven .so people can see it and appreciate it.i would drive the shit out if it.I must say shes a real sleeper.....a real beauty
Love these stock look builds. Guy in my town has a 56 wagon with a 396 in it and if it weren't for the one small dent in the header by the steering box, you would swear gm made it that way lol
