Dr. Ross has a unique natural clarity when developing or explaining models of cognition. She is able to clearly communicate the pathways to attain a higher understanding of the reality of the human thought process. I am a huge fan, and send her many thanks. My work in mapping and identifying cognitive functions has benefitted from listening to her logic and reasoning about creating thoughts and seeing the conception of thought into reality, logically. Hey Professor McBride, awesome video. As someone who played baseball for over 12+ years, I think your metric makes way more sense. Traditionally, we're taught to 'move the runner over' and other high iq baseball ideas, but executing these actions do not necessarily add to our own personal game stats. I think this metric will give way more credit to the supporting team players and weigh their contributions fairly against big offensive hitters.

Very interesting! These metrics can probably be easily incorporated into scoring apps like "Game Changer" that are frequently used by Little League coaches. Do you have similar metrics to quantify contributions on the defensive side?
Glad you liked it, Maria! I'm still working on how best to do pitching and defense. Getting them incorporated into apps like Game Changer and box scores more generally is definitely one of the goals. Not quite there yet.

Thanks, Tim! I'm sticking with baseball for now. There have been a few applications of the Shapley Value to soccer, but those conceptual approaches differ from mine dramatically. So the comparisons aren't very close. My approach takes advantage of the discreteness in baseball action from play to play.
