What I Want You To Know is a gripping, intimate account of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, told through interviews with US combat veterans who share deeply personal stories from their deployments as they consider the tragedy of their wars. The film delivers profoundly honest veteran experiences and considers difficult and timely subjects that include moral injury and veteran suicide. Executive-produced by two veterans, the film won the Audience Favorite award at the Maine International Film Festival, and was an official selection at The International Film Festival The Hague.

Speakers:
Tommy Furlong served as an Infantry Officer with 3rd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment from 2008-2011, deploying in 2010 to Afghanistan as a Rifle Platoon Commander, Weapons Platoon Commander and Fire Support Team Leader. Tommy left the Marine Corps in 2011 as a Captain, and worked for the Home Base Program. He earned a graduate degree at Northeastern University and works in the semiconductor industry. He lives in the greater Boston area with his wife and two children.
Producer / Director Catie Foertsch is an experienced commercial filmmaker who lives in greater Boston. This is her first feature-length documentary film.
Alan Pitts, film participant, is the son of a member of the US Army Special Forces and brother to an Army reservist who also deployed to Iraq. Alan joined the Army in 2001 and served in the 44th Engineer Battalion, 2nd infantry. He served in South Korea until his deployment to Iraq in 2004. He was seriously injured in an ambush in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, and retired from the army as a Sergeant in 2006. He’s worked with several organizations that advocate for veterans, for political causes, and against militarism. He currently lives in Colorado with his wife and son.
Dean Maurer from the School of Social Sciences will moderate the panel discussion following the movie screening.
