Great Video, many thanks for posting it up 😊, we are picking up a Golf next month which has this system, do you need to pull up the parking button every time you park, then press it down again when set off ? ( like you were using a mini handbrake I suppose) many thanks
Hi, thanks for the comments. As long as you activate ‘auto-hold’ you realistically never have to touch the handbrake again unless you want to drive without your seat belt. Having the seat belt plugged in is the key to it working correctly. Glad to be of some help.
Thanks! 👍 I sold it a while back but it was a fantastic bike, in fact so good I had an identical bike a few years later and since then I’ve had three other Triumphs.
Hello... im looking to buy a 2019 plate tiguan. With around 65k mileage. Just a bit concerned as the mileage is quite a bit more than what id usually take on what will be my next car. Should i be concerned? What problems if any have u had? How expensive are they to maintain. Is there anything i should look for?
They are great cars, with 65k I would make sure that it’s had the gearbox serviced. It should have been serviced around 40k. The sunroof water drains can block with silt and can leak into the car. It’s an easy fix inside the engine bay. Google it. Other than that it’s a great car. Mine went three years ago and I still miss it. Good luck
A Cupra Formentor hybrid. Great car and cheap to run as we have solar at home, but I miss the ride height, the sunroof and the space in the car and the boot
Thanks for this. I’m in the process of buying a MK7 Golf. It will be my first time using an electronic handbrake and auto hold. Just a question, on a steep hill doing a hill start. How long does the auto hold last before you need to apply electronic handbrake?
Hi mate, what did you think of the sound acoustics in the tiguan to the golf, i know i had mk1.5 tiguan and acoustics wasn’t very good, all the golfs ive had, the set up sounds far better, obviously No dynaudio fitted in any, saying that the mk 5 golf system wasn’t much kop Cheers
Erm, about the same to be honest. I had the standard set up in both, maybe the Golf was a little better, probably owing to our being a smaller car but there wasn’t much between the two
THANK YOU so much. I had mine set on auto hold, and life was good until she went in for a service and they mucked around with her, and I forgot all the ins and outs. Awesome and simple film, and you showed the buttons and dash. ❤
Hi do you know with the new tiguan 2024 .....should the autohold be on always if turned on? as ours seems to turn off. We assumed it was on as we drove it home from the dealer and parked on our sloping drive and came to a stop and assumed it was still on and it started to roll towards our house...so autohold had not stayed on? Is this a fault with the new car or one of their quirky new things you have to set up somewhere?
I’m not sure I’m afraid, I’ve swapped to a Cupra so not sure how the new system is set up. But I guess if auto hold is on it should stay on, the only reason i could think is maybe it wouldn’t work if your seat belt wasn’t on to begin with and then it would need operating manually. This used to be the way it was set up in 2012 cars but they changed it in the 2018 model, maybe they’ve gone back to that set up. Let me know how you get on.
Hi mate hoping you can help, I have just collected a Golf GT same as yours, but for some reason when I start the car and go to set off it rolls back when releasing the footbrakes, I thought this would hold?
@@kaieshabish22 Thanks for the reply bud I appreciate it, I have managed to figure it out now. Basically I didn't realise that once you blip the throttle and get to the bite point it releases the handbrake automatically, the place I got it from didn't explain it properly.
It was a cracking car, had it for four years but it went to a new home two years ago. The only issue I had was the engine battery started to fail near the end and a replacement was about £300, luckily it went just before it fully gave up and so I swerved that cost. I swapped it for a phev Cupra Formentor and although I love the Cupra I really miss the toys on the Tiguan, the high seating position, the pan roof and the matrix headlights. So much so I’m looking to replace the Cupra with another Tiguan. Hope this helps
Hello! i know this video is a bit old however, i’ve just got one of these bikes and want to replace the rear indicators, will “modern indicators” plug and play so to speak? or will i have to do a whole load of re-wiring, thanks!
Hi, sorry, not really my area of expertise but I’m guessing if you’re using LED’s then you will need some in line resistors because the current will be too high for the low voltage LED’s. Don’t quote me on that though. I haven’t had the bike for many years now but it was my second and what a fabulous machine.
I still have the bag, not the bike though. It is very good, was only cheap off eBay. Something like this I think www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155757792281?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vVBE0PVaT6K&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=XQTrrV-OTmW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Your video literally answered my question in the first 12 seconds, I’ve been looking through loads of Tiguan videos trying to figure out if the boot is big enough for my German shepherd. Answered now! Time to buy one 😂
I’m currently looking at getting a 180 4motion TDi Tiguan and have never used an auto DSG box, my hgv’s all have auto and are relatively smooth but in a car I would like to ask.. How responsive is the gearbox to change and is it smooth ? Does it clunk down say decelerating from a motorway slip road to a roundabout you see you can move away on approach clear, like does it get confused or lost ? Is there any turbo lag setting off from stationary ? Thanks in advance, great review and nice to see an in depth look at things other reviewers may not see as important.
Thanks for the comments. The Tiguan was my second DSG, it’s a great gearbox if serviced within the guidelines. It needs oil changes every 40,000 miles, so make sure this has been done, especially in the more powerful engine because it may have been used to tow or by someone who wants a bit more oomph and so will have had more strain on the box. In eco or comfort mode it’s as smooth as you like, indistinguishable gear changes most of the time, kick down is a bit harsh but that’s to be expected and sport mode seems to give a false jolt in an attempt to make the car feel a bit sporty. Moving off can be as steady or as swift as you like, just depends how heavy your right foot is. There is no way I would go back to a manual, I have a PHEV Cupra Formentor now and the gear box is even better because the electric motor takes up any slack from any gear changes either up or down the box. Good luck with the new car, drop me a comment in the messages if you need to know anything. All’t best.
Have just got a 2014 mk2 kuga so far very pleased with it .if it is any thing like my focus which i had for 11 year's i will be very happy man.loved the video.
Thank you. I really liked the Kuga. I got rid of it in 2016 and it was one of the most comfortable cars I’ve owned. Loads of space, drive well, looked good. I would defo have another.
Thanks for sharing. Love the auto hold etc, but was getting frustrated at not being able to release the handbrake manually, now I see why 😅. Only problem now, is remembering to pull on the old fashioned one when driving the van at work 😀
This is so true. I’ve now had auto’s for the last six years and getting into my wife’s Fiesta where you have to change gear, set the handbrake, keep an eye on the cruise control, dip the rear view mirror yourself and the rear windows are not even electric seems a bit too much like hard work to me
Just bought one of these 2019. After watching your videos I now know how it all works. Thanks so much for going to the effort of making these videos. Also Frank is great. I also have a frank
The Tiguan went 18 months ago replaced by a Formentor. I miss the VW loads, it was comfy, spacious, looked good, great tech and when my time is up with it I may go back to a Tiguan and plump for the Elegence model instead.
It’s was a great bike, I sold it 10 years ago back in March 2013. I absolutely loved nipping through town centre traffic and the start stop function was a game changer and I can highly recommend one. On average I was getting 114mph put the bike so can’t really complain at that. Good luck
My mechanic suggested to keep the handbrake off and the car left in gear as I'm working away and will prevent the handbrake siezing which happened on my mondeo.problem is how do you deactivate the electronic handbrake brake when the ignition is off?
It’s a Volport from Amazon I think. I’m sure i put a link in the description but if not it’s here. It’s really strong and doesn’t mark the surface either Volport Compact Magnetic Adjustable Car Phone Mount, 360 Degree Rotating Small Automobile Dashboard Cellphone Holder kit with 4 Pack Metal Plate Discs Universal Vehicle Smartphone Cradle for iPhone 7 /8/12/13 Pro Samsung Galaxy Huawei Mobile Devices & Satnav GPS Maps amzn.eu/d/cCjboRh
Great car. Mine went 12 months ago, loads of space, rides nice on the big wheels, still looks good, driver aids are ace and the pan roof is brilliant for rear seat passengers, you don’t notice it as much sat in the front
@@kaieshabish22 I'm rather excited, collecting today. Part exchanging my thirsty Audi S3 saloon, will be nice to see a decent MPG on the screen instead of 15 eeek.
Does the distance to empty or mpg stay on the next time you start the car like if I go into the shop and start the car will it show what ever it was on last
They had a white strip in the doors and along the sun roof as standard. Early ones had a fault with the sunroof strip lights so Volkswagen turned them off as part of a recall until a replacement part was developed.
Hi, how did you find the ride quality especially over bumps? We were all set on this model until we drove it. It felt extremely hard over bumps and pot holes compared to Q5 and X3. Thanks
I’ve got to be honest I was very impressed given the size of the wheels and the profile of the tyres. There are cars out there which are more comfy, I think if I went that way again I’d go for the SEL because they are fractionally smaller wheels with bigger profile tyres but the car gets all the same equipment. In the current facelift model it would be the Elegence
Crikey, I’ve no idea, I don’t think it effects the placement of the fuse box if I remember right, it’s been a long time since I made the video and I sold the bike soon after
@@kaieshabish22 I bought what was supposed to be the right tidy for the model year, the original fusebox mount is actually part of the original mudguard, I'll have to improvise something, thanks for reply
Excellent videos which I've enjoyed watching as The Tiguan R line 2 litre diesel auto (same as yours) is on my shortlist as my possible next car. Could you do a review of the DSG gearbox and its positive and negative points please? My current car is a 2010 Nissan Qashqai +2 (seven seater) which has the 2 litre engine with a 6 speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. I tow a small caravan and the Nissan handles it brilliantly, in fact the whole car has been totally reliable in the 9 years we have owned it. I have heard mixed reviews of the DSG gearbox and that is my only reservation switching from a tried and trusted "slush box" to a twin clutch gearbox. Your comments would be most welcome before I part with my cash!
Hi David, thanks for your comments. Unfortunately the car is long since gone after I had it for four years. The gear box was excellent and although I never towed with it my brother has the same car (on my recommendation) and he tows a fairly large caravan without anything to grumble about.
@@kaieshabish22 Thanks for the prompt reply. I am torn between the Tiguan or the Peugeot 3008 GT at the moment, both available with the 2 litre engines and auto boxes. The Peugeot has the Torque convertor box and the VW is a DSG, so trying to get opinions on both! Thanks again for the reply, glad you liked the car it looked great.
I like the look of the Peugeot, what put me off mainly was there was less space inside, the glovebox is a joke and more importantly I couldn’t find a decent driving position because of the small steering wheel and dash board set up, very comfy car though but the VW just felt that bit more polished.
@@kaieshabish22 bit cheeky to ask, I know you’ve sold the bike but I’m trying my hand to fitting this tail tidy next week and I wondered if I could give you a call If get stuck only if you think you could be of help. Cheers Dan
