For an interview that’s over 40 years old now, it’s still in great condition. Gary was 22 years old here, not much older than his eldest daughter’s current age now.
I loved the Berserker album, image and overall sound (ppg wave) but totally get that people may not have been into this as a single. Not exactly radio-friendly. So in hindsight I can sort of see why Radio One didn't play it at the time. Some of the cr@p that they did play though! 😂 Still love it. Looking forward to BMG rereleasing this and Fury etc in the near future 🤞
I was really hoping that Numan had written a song called "I Can't Stop Wogan". The chorus I imagined would have gone; "I can stop drinking, yeah, and I can stop smoking, right, but IIII just can't stop Wogaaaan!"
@@kimberlymason1060 Although I already knew the story, I appreciate your sharing of some knowledge. I love his Bass lines and his passing was such a waste.
Great seeing this. Interesting that while Gary received very little, if any, radio play in this period where he was desperate to have another chart hit, he did get coverage on Top of the Pops.
i cant stop followed the top 30 single this is love into the singles chart, whilst that song reached number 28, i cant stop stalled at 27. totps played the song, it was heavily promoted but radio 1 just wouldn't touch it resulting in a day of protest from fans. Numan speculated at the time that he guessed he had upset someone in high places. With airplay the track would have likely gone top 20 but it is an annoying track. Not a song he's ever gonna perform again.
f*** me I remember watching this! I was absolutely made up seeing it. kids I went to school with used to rip the shit out of me for liking gary. wankers the lot of them
Love is unsafe I'm sure Wrong love, Wrong time, Wrong move. Love is too short, too sharp. Wrong men, Wrong place, Wrong heart. I don't believe in love and I don't believe in you and I don't believe in anything Love is too cold, too close. Because pictures TV Love is you ??????? with film. You don't know me at all.
Even when Gary lost his passion, he was still miles above the disposable pop stars of the era. Of course now he's back at the top of his game. He never gave up.
I assume you mean Numan's Les Paul. I recently pointed out to a friend that it's the same one he has always had. That white Stratocaster on the other hand used to belong to Allan Holdsworth, so it has as well.
